My wife and I went to WDW at the end of 2020--as the park began to carefully reopen. We got a sweetheart deal on accommodation, and moved from Pop Century to a one bedroom at OKW. One of the nicest hotel rooms I've ever been in, and absolutely HUGE--nearly 1000 sq ft. A full laundry room, kitchen, beautiful living\dining area and fantastic patio. Just fantastic. My only real problem with this resort is the transportation--it has 5 bus stops, and I highly recommend walking to the Peninsular Station to pick up a bus, since that is the first stop and the buses come in largely empty.
The room that you are in is a deluxe studio. They are the most spacious on property. That room may be part of a one and/or two-bedroom lock-off. That is a standard deluxe studio at Old Key West. Most other deluxe DVC resorts have only one bed. You do have access to guest laundry for free on the property in certain places. You just have to purchase laundry detergent. The square footage of the deluxe studios here are 380 square feet. At Saratoga...it is 365 sq. feet. Riviera deluxe studio is 423 square feet. Hope this is helpful.
My favorite resort! Get the nachos at the the quick service! They are really good.. get a turtle crawl from the little bar you saw…we stayed in a 1 bedroom,2 bedroom and now we stay at the 3 bedroom grand villa. It’s as big as a house inside it.( we have 12 people in my immediate family, and it fits all of us very comfortably
No it's not too old. My dvc home. Very relaxing. I wish all you vloggers that review this resort would do your research on the rooms. If you do your research you would have known the difference between a studio and a 1 bedroom.
What you guys stayed in is the Deluxe studio. If you stay in a two bedroom villa, that door will be unlocked and it will lead you into the 1 bedroom villa (deluxe studio plus the 1 bedroom would equal the 2 bedroom villa). Those studio villas are the largest on property. I absolutely love OKW ❤
I think this is one of the better DVC resorts on the property. The theming is perfect in compared to the resorts with newer theming. The latter seemed to have furniture straight from IKEA. When it comes to the recent theming for its resorts, Disney has been dropping the ball. Have you or Casey ever had a prolonged visit to Key West, FL?
Old Key West has always had those studios. They are part of a 2 bedroom lock off if you book that. Also, OKW was last refurbished about 5 years ago so not that long ago. The studios are set up almost exactly like the studios in Vero Beach.
4 months late to this video because I was just looking for OKW room tour videos...but fwiw, the reason this is bigger than your Riviera room is you were in the tower studio at Riviera. Their regular deluxe studios are some of the bigger studios on DVC property :) and just as modern. Anyway, thank you for the detailed resort tour! Very helpful.
These room in the DVC world are "2 bedroom lock offs." It is a 1 bedroom suite with a studio attached to it. You can only access the 1 bedroom portion if you book the full 2 bedroom lock off.
This Deluxe Studio is HUGE! I have stayed at Yacht Club, Beach Club, and Grand Californian; those rooms are so tiny! The pull-out couches are awful! So uncomfortable! OK, you get 2 queen beds too! Holy Mother, there Is a Lot of space, Batman!
Riveria tower room is not even the same catergory as any of the studio accomodations. Also, a 2-bedroom lock off in DVC speak is a one bedroom plus a studio(which is a regular hotel room). OKW is the ultimate chill staycation.
OKW is our home resort. We bought into it when our daughter was just 18 months old and is now 27 so we have definitely got our money worth there. We loved going there when kids were young because they had sand at two of the pools and was laid back and the biggest rooms not including the studio. However one of the only DVC studio rooms with two beds.
Room looks great to me. Older sink? It's a sink. How modern should a hotel sink be?? The dresser and DVD player are a bit outdated but otherwise it looks fine to me.
Please do research on the resort/rooms/DVC before vlogging on them and saying absolutely ridiculous things like a studio was part of a 2 bed and "converted" into a studio. This is your full time job. What do you think would happen if people in other jobs just randomly said inaccurate info about their job/projects?

The one bedrooms at Old Key West are WAY more updated with vinyl flooring and shower doors from what I remember. At least from a few years ago down past the lake.
Enjoying the Staycation series as always. Have you ever considered checking out some of the Good Neighbor hotels as well, for those who maybe can't afford Disney prices or who want a little reprieve from the magic after being in the parks all day? Also,, had to laugh when you mentioned this resort was also available for "regular money"; I'm sure it wasn't meant negatively. It just came out wrong, and I'm aleasily amused sometimes.
Key west are the largest rooms on property, boardwalk is 2nd. The one bedroom or two room dedicated or lockout are very large. It is easier to get around Saratoga than key west. The one thing about dvc they maintain their rooms . As a member I truly prefer my resort Saratoga. I’ve stayed in almost every hotel or dvc room. Try beach club dvc resort next. I love it but with seven hotels in the area to crowded.
We will be staying here in September👍❤️. At OKW their is only two buildings that have a elevator. You are in a lock off room deluxe studio. Thanks for sharing 🤗

Old Key West has the biggest DVC rooms they're the best ❤ The dining or lack there of is my only complaint for the resort . The atmosphere is really cool there 😊Great drinks from the bar and have utilized the quick serve . Some studios have the couch and not the two queen beds . Not a fan of carpet .That room seems a little dated . We do a pros and cons each time before our next stay . Saratoga is our home resort which is usually where we end up due to availability 😊 Boat ride is cool ! Enjoy dinner 🥰 Thanks for taking us on your staycation loved coming along !😊
That’s funny you finally do a staycation video at Old Key West Resort and stayed in that exact same room when I stayed there !It was nice being close to the lobby and the bus stop there ! We love OKW we always stay in a 2 bedroom villa it’s huge! Great bus transportation and so close to DS! The BOAT ride is the best! But..last time we were there in 2021 I noticed the lobby needed updating the rugs were really dirty, so I’m excited to see it when we go at the end of September
Riviera also has studios, the tower suite room you stayed on is not their version of a studio. The studio at Riviera is nicer but it is more expensive- Old Key West is a nicer price.

My fiancé and I are getting married at Disney’s Swan Resort next year. Would love to see you do a staycation Sunday there to see all the ins and outs of the resort of the Swan and Dolphin. Love the staycation Sunday videos, keep up the great content.
Don't forget about location when comparing resorts. When someone can take the skyliner to Epcot/HS compared busses its a big difference for a family going to the parks. Not as big of a deal for a staycation though.
I thought the Riviera room you stayed in was the tower studio room? That is a different category than the deluxe studio room and isn't an equal comparison. Riviera does have deluxe studio rooms too. Maybe you could do one of those for a future staycation?
I have stayed at old key west in a very similar room as that and it was cheaper than pop century. So it really does help looking at different properties in case there are deals.
Just out of curiosity…have you ever tried using you AP card as a room key? If it is linked to your MDE account, it should scan for everything a MagicBand does.
Kyle...I hope you saw the Wisconsin license plate in the bar at Old Key West. A good friend of mine donated it. Sadly, he passed away last year, and recently one of his son's got the plate on his vehicle.
I don't know. I stayed at boardwalk dvc studio which seemed larger. Different vibe. Your room is more square where bw was longer. Still a nice room. I think if you had the room you thought you were getting you wouldn't be criticizing as much.

1 bedroom and up gets laundry. You are technically staying in the lockoff portion of a 1 bedroom lockoff, as opposed to staying in a true studio. True studio wouldn't have had a connecting door. Riv you'd be trading less space for skyliner access honestly. I tell members it depends if you're just looking to snooze and be active park goers or if you are looking to relax at resort as far as the either or
hi Kyle! Its the studio portion of a two bedroom home. Was always this way. That door does connect to a one bedroom home. And combined they make a two bedroom home. There are also studios that do not connect to one bedroom homes. That is the only difference between your studio, which is a studio lock off, and a dedicated studio which cannot connect to a one bedroom home.

(you can see his work in the gardens as well.) The Driftwood Lodge in Waldos for a beer and a look, and then Ocean Grill for a nice meal. Trust me you won’t regret it.

I've never been to Key West before. I love the vibe. The room was actually a good size for a studio, I like that. Wow, a vlog of firsts for me, I've never been to Terralina - the food looked good.
Yep that sink and shower head were definitely old. The way he discribes things just make him sound uneducated and spoiled. Making judgement on things before even using it. ALSO when traveling with multi familys you can ask in hotels for joining rooms. And if they need to seperate joining room to rent them out they will.
Old Key West is my favorite resort by far. We love the space, and the boat to Disney Springs. We were just there late May... same building as you guys actually. Top floor, 1-bedroom. Huge balcony with a fantastic water view and fireworks view at night. I'm sorry you guys seemed disappointed with the room. Most of the rooms at OKW have been refurbished recently. Ours was, I'm surprised yours was not. Note: Only 3 buildings at OKW have elevators. Might be important to some. Love the staycation Vlogs! Waiting for the Poly Bora Bora Bungalows. I haven't stayed in one.... yet!
There are 2 kinds of 2 bedroom villas. The studio you are staying in is considered part of a 2 bedroom with a second door upon request😊 Love Old Key West! It's been our home away from home since December of 1991❤
Love the staycation Sunday videos! We will be staying at Old Key West in one week! It’ll be our first time staying there. The rooms look outdated, but the price is amazing! Half the price when compared to most DVC rooms. Super excited to check out the resort 🎉
Kyle and Casey inspired me to do a staycation with my parents the other weekend we stayed riverside and loved riding the boat to port Orleans and Disney springs.. the Mickey beignets are delicious at port Orleans! They had speciality haunted Manson ones that had marshmallow and cookies and cream powered sugar 😊
It looks very beautiful. It all looks nice and homey as for the room looks good. Maybe it needs a little updating but it’s old Key West maybe that’s the theme the only thing you’ve got to say how comfortable the bed is and you hardly ever say the price what about the hotel the dolphin or the swan you’ve never stayed at the hotels at Disney springs? You have Hilton the hotel I stay in Windham not bad hotels maybe not up to your standards I love you to see you try good job, Casey and Kyle.

Studios do not have laundry facilities. OKW has the largest rooms and I believe they are the only resort that has two queens in their studios.

OkdKey West is beautiful. The style might not be to your liking it it doesn’t make it outdated. I look at it and see the functionality.

Yeah very nice. The only other Studio with 2 "real" beds that I know of is the Resort Studios at the Grand Floridian.
OKW and Saratoga Springs are def the most peaceful and relaxing DVC resorts IMO. Feels much more quiet than the resorts closer to the parks

Look into Magic Candle Company. They have identical scents of all of the resorts and rides. Great addition for the new apartment.
Every Disney resort has its own smell . Saratoga Springs smells like a horse stall and of course Animal Kingdom Lodge smells like a zoo.

hi Kyle! Its the studio portion of a two bedroom home. Was always this way. That door does connect to a one bedroom home. And combined they make a two bedroom home. There are also studios that do not connect to one bedroom homes. That is the only difference between your studio, which is a studio lock off, and a dedicated studio which cannot connect to a one bedroom home.
We’re going to try to stay here thanks for doing this video. Hey, if you do Vero beach for a Sunday staycation, you’ve got to check out McKee gardens! And also check out Waldo Sexton’s places. (you can see his work in the gardens as well.) The Driftwood Lodge in Waldos for a beer and a look, and then Ocean Grill for a nice meal. Trust me you won’t regret it.

Gnocchi is one of my absolute favorite Italian dishes. It’s pure comfort food! I’m sorry it wasn’t your favorite. I love the room - yes it’s dated. But it’s spacious & that’s a plus. I also love the option of taking a boat to DS. Love Staycation Sundays! ❤️
Studio means exactly that. Just like a studio apartment. One room...lmao. If it is a one bedroom it is no longer a studio. Good vid though.

Kyle, did they expand the store? It looks bigger than I recall. This is my home DVS resort, but it’s been a long time since I have stayed there because the kids love Animal Kingdom Lodge.

I've never been to Key West before. I love the vibe. The room was actually a good size for a studio, I like that. Wow, a vlog of firsts for me, I've never been to Terralina - the food looked good.
Yep that sink and shower head were definitely old. The way he discribes things just make him sound uneducated and spoiled. Making judgement on things before even using it. ALSO when traveling with multi familys you can ask in hotels for joining rooms. And if they need to seperate joining room to rent them out they will.

Old Key West is my favorite resort by far. We love the space, and the boat to Disney Springs.
We were just there late May... same building as you guys actually. Top floor, 1-bedroom. Huge balcony with a fantastic water view and fireworks view at night.
I'm sorry you guys seemed disappointed with the room. Most of the rooms at OKW have been refurbished recently. Ours was, I'm surprised yours was not.
Note: Only 3 buildings at OKW have elevators. Might be important to some.

There are 2 kinds of 2 bedroom villas. The studio you are staying in is considered part of a 2 bedroom with a second door upon request😊

Love the staycation Sunday videos! We will be staying at Old Key West in one week! It’ll be our first time staying there. The rooms look outdated, but the price is amazing! Half the price when compared to most DVC rooms. Super excited to check out the resort 🎉

This resort was clearly dated. It’s needs TLC. Looks like aFFlorida super 8 or Econo Lodge. Kyle, try the Hilton Resort by Disney Springs.

Kyle and Casey inspired me to do a staycation with my parents the other weekend we stayed riverside and loved riding the boat to port Orleans and Disney springs.. the Mickey beignets are delicious at port Orleans! They had speciality haunted Manson ones that had marshmallow and cookies and cream powered sugar 😊
It looks very beautiful. It all looks nice and homey as for the room looks good. Maybe it needs a little updating but it’s old Key West maybe that’s the theme the only thing you’ve got to say how comfortable the bed is and you hardly ever say the price what about the hotel the dolphin or the swan you’ve never stayed at the hotels at Disney springs? You have Hilton the hotel I stay in Windham not bad hotels maybe not up to your standards I love you to see you try good job, Casey and Kyle.
