  • While doing an air filter change & fuel cap replacement on a 2020 Hypermotard 950, I decided to do a time lapse of the project. Hope you enjoy!

I like to have never figured that fuel line pushy thing on the back of the tank. Once ya know how it works it’s a snap. I discovered some gummy sticky gunk in the throttle bodies. It was causing the butterflies to stick closed really bad. Had to clean it off several times. It would get so bad the bike would stall and die at lights. I got really good at what you show in your excellent video. Never did figure out where the sticky stuff was coming from. It was almost like a coating that melted when it warmed up. I must have got it all out cuz it runs great now. I love the Hypermotard 950sp 🥰 perfect city bike.
    They should call it HyperHooligan
    Thanks for the video!
Now I can show everyone what pain in the a$$ it is just to change the air filter……gotta love it though
    Take care
    Arrivederci y’all from Texas

I appreciate it! I haven’t taken too much of a look in the throttle body, but I do occasionally stall out at red lights so it’s definitely be worth a look. Seems to be fuel mapping though because it happens between 1 - 5 % throttle and only in certain situations. Apparently there’s an update to the map, but I haven’t gotten around to doing it yet. Keep it on two wheels!

I had the same problem; it would stall at traffic lights when otherwise it shifted thru 2-6 without issues. Ducati said it was throttle bodies and after cleaning it it runs beautifully. That said, I think that it will be an ongoing issue; it stalled three hours ago will practising some maneuvers in a parking lot.

That sticky stuff is the liner from the gas tank being eaten Away by ethanol fuel. This is a problem that Ducati needs to address. I had the same issue with my 2022 SP. The fuel pump is not affected by this but the injectors are when you pull the air cleaner out take your injectors out and clean them this involves backflushing them you can also use an ultrasonic cleaner but you do need to buy a fuel injector activation tool you can even make a homemade one with a 9-volt battery.

Thank you! I honestly have always went with K&N. They come with a lifetime warranty and I've never had any trouble out of them in my vehicles.

why were you replacing the fuel cap ? and why didnt you just swap whole assembly over rather than dismantle cap and change the parts over ?

The fuel tank breather & overflow port have a really thin plastic wall and are easily broken when removing the hoses from them. I broke mine on a previous job & instead of getting the assembly matched to my key by Ducati, I just replaced what was broken which was the plastic fuel breather and overflow assembly.

I also broke my fuel tank breather. Can you tell me what you replaced it with? Thanks
