One thing about Little Mac that makes me want to continue playing as him is one fact alone:
People say he's garbage, yet they fear him in battle.
@@sirdabsalot1yt83 I mean once the KO punch is ready, people tend to platform camp and keep their distance.
SirdabsaLoT1 YT People only get scared of Mac in tournament once they see what higher level Macs look like. Yeah, his recovery sucks, but the ability to take a stock in 5 hits from reading a tech and THEN being able to take the next stock in 2 hits thanks to KO punch is super scary.

Maining little mac makes me wanna snap my switch in half. Getting a dair spike makes it all worth though

@@HELLRAISER02 it spikes low-mid 100s but yes if you want to be technical and lame im mainly refering to gimps on heavys. Being knocked down to the point of no recovery is a spike in my book dont you take that away from me

Some people never played Punch Out!!! His strengths rely on him catching you off guard and capitalizing off of it.

When on ledge you double tap side b very quickly and drift back to stage and you can make it back with double jump, up B if you time it right. Remember he has a wall jump too so Kalos, yoshi story and other stages are good picks. But also don’t bet your stock on it, it’s good for mix ups, but it’s best to stay on stage 90% of the time
I like to use side b and then a. It comes out super fast and is much more reliable.
Man honestly I suck at smash. I used to main ness and I’m really good with a lot of stuff about him, like his recovery. But... I realized I sucked with him. So I don’t know, I just wanted to play someone who was quicker, powerful, etc... and then I remembered that little Mac existed. What makes me want to play him is how he’s like the underdog, yet he’s an absolute beast. And his recovery is actually better than other characters, if you know how to use it right (sure, his second jump is shorter than Simon or Marth, but his horizontal recovery plus his vertical can better get you in to stage). And his super armor.... gotta love that
YESSSSSS, Mac's recovery has distance and lots of ways to mix it up. As long as you mix it up well to throw your opponent off, getting back to the stage isn't that much of a problem

But really, many judge him for being too simple. AND THAT'S THE CASE. What makes some struggle with him is not knowing his overall game plan. Point being, make use of your weaknesses as an advantage.
The side B at the ledge to cover recoveries is actually possible to recovery from, you just have to input your jump perfectly
I found out that you can use back air (at 64%) then a jab, for a jab-lock and after that a smash attack for some kills.
And that you can use a forward-air (at 75%) then a jab, for a jab-lock and then a smash attack for some kills.
(I only tested this on rob, so there might be some differences because of weight)
Do you think that we could use it as a good mix-up?
Mcp1 Smash approaching with aerial will always catch the opponent off guard, but we don’t use them that much for a reason. It’s definitely a good mixup, but I’d still primarily use stuff like forward throw and Down-angled Fsmash to start a tech chase

that's definitely mac's best option on shield with how crazy its shield damage is, but its still -13 on shield. If your opponent's shield is already weakened a bit, let it rip!
People say that Little Mac is bottom tier. And they're *RIGHT.*
Little Mac's entire character is about being the *UNDERDOG.* Underdogs are ALWAYS at a disadvantage, but they always find ways to *exploit a win.*
Tips from an experienced little Mac player(on platform stages):
When your opponent is on a platform above you you can do one of these 3 things.
If they are falling towards the platform, use up smash
Poke through the platform with aerials, if they are at a higher percent then try to follow up with side b
Use up tilt and bait them into falling into it
Use up special
If you ever hit a neutral air then immediately jump, do another nair and up special(this combo only works when your opponent is in the air)
Up special is a really good out of shield option and can guarantee kills at high percents
Characters such as link, Ike, chrom, or any character who has a large hitbox on their recovery can be easily killed by just using counter by the ledge.
If your opponent cannot be hit by down smash by the ledge, go to near the middle of the platform closest to the ledge and do one of these 3 things
If they roll on stage, up smash them just at the end of the roll
If they do a ledge attack, do a forward smash, dash attack or side b
If they jump from ledge, jump up and do an up b, especially at high percents.
Little Mac can juggle with up b
If your opponent is at the ledge while you grabbed it, up b them
If your opponent falls through a platform, grab them, don’t just randomly grab
Use aerials, they are really effective in mix ups and catching your opponent off guard, especially against heavyweights
Landing neutral air at all gives you limited options but they are really good
Don’t spam it, only do that if you wanna suicide with your opponent off stage
If your opponent is on the ground

I think I have most of this stuff down, except for the dash cancel into spot dodge. Kinda difficult to time. I only get it about half of the time.

If you’re doing it through the sliding spotdodge, you just have to do it a bit earlier. I’d learn the distance of the slide in training mode and learn the best spacing for it

Little Mac has the best ground game which makes anyone inexperienced playing against competent little macs ill equipped to even attempt winning. Myself included
He’s very polarizing, and you can get blindsided if you’re caught with your guard down.

Technically Snake could be considered to have a better ground game. Macs ground game isn’t as good as smash 4 unfortunately

@@masonmurphy5402 Yes. He lost his old down tilt and jab combos from that game, which were crucial as they were both solid ground moves that transitioned from combos to kill confirms

Up air to up tilt is true, and same for fair to forward tilt, but you have gotta do it right before he lands, easiest to do on heavy weights, and super hard to do on light weights and small characters, but its possible on all

Falling up air to up tilt, short jump raising nair to falling fair, up tilt to grab, down throw raising nair to falling fair, up tilt, wait for split second then down tilt to side b

Is it weird that I use KO punch to recover sometimes and hit my opponent?
Using KO punch to recover is a pretty good option, but only if you're recovering from higher up. It has crazy endlag and doesn't snap to ledge so using it when going low will just make you SD. Using jumping KO to get up from ledge is a good option that catches a lot of dudes off guard, it just doesn't kill till pretty late.
"Don't use counter to land on the stage." Then proceeds to get countered by the enemy landing on the stage 9:09

Are you not aware of dash walk? That is the optimal way to move and score tilts with Mac IMO. It doesn’t take any complicated weird dodge/roll tech either. Plus it will auto tilt at the end of the dash animation if desired.
I didn’t know about it back when I made this video, but I’ve learned about it since. I feel like it’s a really nice option to get in on zoners since you can get the initial dash but still have the control and micro spacing you get from walking afterwards.

Everything you just said is correct *as long as it's used on the ground and not in the air.*

If you can hit puff even once while she's trying to recover, she's dead. You can armor through her dair using neutral B. Up tilt can actually outrange a good number of her options. Rolling in is usually a bad idea because you're going to get read with sing 90% of the time. Jigglypuff loses stocks super easily because of her weight, but Mac also loses stocks easily because of gimping and sing. My recommendation is to go for an early stock lead and playing bait and punish. Puff's approach options are 95% pound, fair, and nair. Be ready for those, and she can't do shit.

I think they need to make little macs recovery a bit more better
I would be very happy if they buffed his recovery, but I cannot really blame the developers for not making it that great. A character with grounded moves this strong as well as a great recovery would be super scary to fight.
Well it’s a better recovery then smash on wii u because he did get a buff with his recovery but it was worser on wii u with little mac recovery
