Very glad to see the Librarian's bathroom scare make it into this reel; that was one of the strongest reactions I've seen to this map _and_ for his channel. Something else I'm realizing: despite Sean playing on significantly higher gamma, his experience isn't impacted at all; the map is just so good it doesn't matter whether you experience it in the dark, because all of the tension and horror come from unsettling geometry and twisting familiarity, instead of just lurking in the dark.
And... You know... Kinda helps if the gamma isn't making the experience completely dark so even the viewers struggle to see some stuff. Like in the secret closet maz that the guy making the video had to try to up the whole thing to little success.
@@JayHog1992 Well, to be fair, the secret closet maze is a direct homage to House of Leaves. It's dark because it's dark in the book, and because, paired with the emptiness, confusing layout, and silence, it's genuinely a little unnerving. Does it make for a good recording? ...nope!

I still think Spazmatic Banana has the best playthrough. The video already is hilarious throughout. Two people reacting to what’s happening on screen and one of them being very familiar with DOOM and WADs in general makes the reactions even better.
While he wasn't doing outbursts, John Romero (a creator/dev of Doom 2) played it in part. I really wish he got at least to the bathroom blood part, but he's an elder mans, so. He was pretty impressed with it, though!

There's a ton of references in this game. The airport is a nod to the Langoliers. Story by Steven King about passengers on a plane and a liminal airport.
