At first I laughed, because the beginning is what I would have done. I could see myself and feel my frustration. My second thought was "wait and see", you pulled it out and I just love it! Thank you Scott. Not just an art lesson, but life lesson. Never give up.
Now you know I usually love your paintings but I have watched this video 3 times now to see if it will grow on me but I have to say that I am still crying!! It appears that I am in the minority but I find it too oppressive. I was liking it until the black went on the bottom section but then you lost me. Would I hang it on my wall?... I have to say no, sorry.
Hi Pamela! It is really cool to see peoples responses and there has been another person who really didn’t like it either! Maybe a strong response either way is a good thing! Better than no response or a small response! Thanks for your honest feedback! Much appreciated! 👍👍
I love watching your process. I must say I loved the look when you added the darker pigments to the bottom but before you blended it. It looked so crisp. I learn a lot from watching you.
I'm so glad you explained your process. it's really helpful for me to see an artist change directions like you did. and I really love the tree effect that you created.
Scott, I like your style. But you have to use big amount of watercolor paint for your artwork. I wish I had a lot of professional watercolors. There are like 2 art supplies shops in Iceland. It is costs a lot to buy from online Art Supplies shop in Europe and the US and Amazon. The shipping rate is high, Amazon has the far highest shipping cost. Thank you for sharing your beautiful artwork. xxxx
Hi Louis! Yes I think it was a success in the end but it is a pretty bleak painting and you have to work hard to obtain dark darks with watercolour on that sort of scale! Glad you liked it! Thanks.
Enjoyed this, so encouraging to keep going when your believe it’s ruined. I’d have given up. Question….what happens to the thick residue of watercolour paint? Will it crack when completely dry?
Hi June! Yes good question! Yes it does crack if on too thickly! What I try and do while it is still wet is remove any of the large amount of excess! It also dries more dull. The other thing I have been contemplating with these style of paintings is a number of layers of spray varnish once it has dried. That would protect it, enhance the depth of colour and make any dull areas actually come alive and would mean I can handle them with a little less care. I have not done this yet but it has been at the back of my mind for a while.....
I was looking forward to your next painting. This light at the horizon ...wow...it is amazing. When you started to put the dark colour at the bottom I first thought..oh no i´ts ruined now. Yeah I cried....but then you scratched with the razorblade and sprayed it lighter so a wonderful background was there. The last black colour that you sprayed towards the sky, would have not be necessary in my eyes. I liked the blue and dark orange which was rising up in the sky. I would have stopped there. Anyway its such a beautiful light at the horizon.
Thanks Scott always worth a watch 😉 l make a few train crashes l must say, but you can always find something to do with them. I sometimes tear them up and make collages with them 😁 This as always turned out great, loved the sunlight on the horizon, and the dramatic darks. Take care Alioban x
Hi Alison! Yes I do love the light on the horizon! And against the dark of the land and trees I love that feeling! Thanks! Good luck with the grandkids!
Hi Scott! I found your channel just a week ago and right away I fell in love for your loose style. You told somehere in your videos for beginners, how it could be scary to start with large paper. You are so right! Already for some years I have painted natural looking flowers, Mediterranean seascapes, houses etc. in "line and wash" in very small scale. Recently I have tried to find someone to teach me how to relax and let the warercolors show me the way how to enjoy painting without trying to do corrections too much. Thank you for your channel and your way of teaching! It looks like I will stay in A5 still for some time. 😄 Greetings from Finland!
Hi Bill! I hear you! I know what you mean. I am considering cropping in on the subject. I will need to look at it for a while and from a distance and framed so I can decide if anything needs to be done in terms of cropping, more painting etc. I always like honest feedback! Thanks!
At first I laughed, because the beginning is what I would have done. I could see myself and feel my frustration. My second thought was "wait and see", you pulled it out and I just love it! Thank you Scott. Not just an art lesson, but life lesson. Never give up.
Thanks Betty! Yes I was close to throwing in the towel! But I’m happy with what I produced in the end! 👍👍
@@ScottSwinsonif all else fails you can soak the paper overnight in the bath! Start again… exciting things can happen.
That is absolutely mad. You’re a magician.
Wow that was exciting scary and magical. You are fantastic Scott! Continued success. 🥰💕🐶💕🥰
Thanks Alicia! Yes it was pretty crazy! Highs and lows! 🙏
You make it look so easy! I love your technique and finished product. And I appreciated the "sound effects" in the beginning 😅
Love it, and that early morning light that magically set itself in just the right position……..but was created by a magician, aka Scott Swinson!
Thanks Sue! I’m just open to things happening and then taking them somewhere. Thanks for watching and being lovely! 🙏

Beautiful painting bro❤

Another amazing outcome, Scott. It all came together with the dark "trees" at the end. Beautiful. Thank you!

Outstanding! Loved it!!!! So free, imaginative and fun
Scott, I am very new to painting in general. I don't understand how you are scrapping the paint.
The final image is sooooo atmospheric. Good decision making Scott. 😊 Thanks for sharing.
Hi Cathy! Thanks! 🙏 I think it worked in the end! Pretty interesting process! 👍👍
Great lesson in letting go and trusting the process! Scott, are you going to be doing more demos? I haven’t seen you posting any in awhile.
I could just feel your anxiety so strongly at one point. Same happens to me! Most unpleasant.
Hi can I ask the thickness and size of your mdf board…thanx
The way you blended those watercolurs by tilting is genius. Love it..
Thanks Shilpa! 🙏

Hi Rohi! Yes! Such and interesting journey! It sounds like you were there every step of the way!! 👍👍👍👍

It's just Awesome 👍❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so very much for sharing your talent- I LOVE this and I learned so much!
Hi Susan! No worries! Glad you love it! Happy painting! cheers Scott
Yes, it WAS a train wreck for a while there -- but then you totally SAVED it, and it's beautiful!! Thanks so much for this lesson.
Yes! I know! It was terrible! But I’m happy with the end result! Thanks so much! 🙏🙏
Hi Scott! This was fun to watch. Always a surprise in the end. I’m learning to draw, so I’m not painting too much right now.
That’s a great idea sue! Good luck! It will be fun for you to return to watercolour after a period of drawing! 👍👍👍
Love what you do and the excitement you feel, that’s really what it’s all about. Fantasic
Thanks Morven! Yes it is what it’s all about! 👍👍👍
😊
Thank you very much! I enjoy to watch your painting a lot. Amazing 🤩
Thanks Vicky! 🙏
Love what you do and the excitement you feel, that’s really what it’s all about. Fantastic
Thanks! 🙏
Lovely - it's so good to see experienced artists make their way through potential stuff ups. Brilliant.
Wow! that was impressive...I almost couldn't watch there for a while but the end result was amazing!
Hi Scott! This is the last video I’ve gotten from you for some reason! I don’t have any from July or August! Missing you!😔

After the spraying of water and lovely music, the paint does it’s dance😍.
WOW, Oh WOW, this is amazing!! I love it! I need to give this a try with large paper! Thank you!
Delightful!!!
Love it!!!
Magic!

Twoja twórczość mnie fascynuje, pięknie malujesz i jesteś inspiracją dla.mnie, ja jestem na początku swojej drogi, pozdrawiam serdecznie 🤗🌹
Hi Scott. This turned out beautifully and as you pointed out that glow of that gold through the trees is amazing.
Beautiful work Scott. Masterful mate 👍🙏
Loved this style. Just great techniques that create natural shapes.
Great to see your work in progress and how you get started
This was an interesting one! Not a common colour palette for me!
Brilliant Scotty, braw lite
Thanks Gaz!! Like a crisp early morning up near Loch Lomond!
Absolutely fab!
Thanks Den!
¡Love it! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks!!! 🙏👍
Love the freedom of your work
I love it!
Probably one of your worst efforts, far too much black needed some interest in the foreground. Sorry!

I just love your abstract mind creating your abstract paintings. You've really inspired me as a beginner 😊
