Did you end up using a wood backer behind your new wall pack light on the corrugated siding? I am getting ready to mount 15 of these on a bunch of self storage buildings, but they have corrugated siding like your barn. Wondering what is the best way to mount them? Thanks!

I mounted them straight to the building and sealed the wiring pass-through. When I mentioned “wooden backer” in the video, I was referring to the interior framing of the building. Super easy!

@@WrenchAddiction Thanks for your kind reply. Our install went really well. I ended up using some dense foam strips to fill the gap caused by the corrugated siding. Hopefully that keeps bees/wasps and others from building nests in the gap.

You cant compare a im guessing 50w HPS wall pack with a small reflector surface to a LED wall pack thats clearly bigger that will distribute the light better..... HPS and LED actually have almost the same LUMENS to each other per watt.. for example a 25w LED puts out roughly 2600 lumens.. at 50w LED wall pack puts out around 5k or so lumens.. A 50w HPS is around 4k.. A 150w LED would put out around 15600 lumens, a 150w High pressure sodium light puts out between 13-16000 lumens. Do you see a pattern here ?
Try this test with a wall pack in a bigger box for more reflection/spread of the light.. I garuntee you will see the HPS is brighter. This fixture yes.. uses roughly 22-25w compared to that HPS light thats probably a 50w bulb.. but again get a bigger fixture with more reflector and the light will be brighter even with a 50w bulb..
The big advantage LED has isnt the brightness over HPS per watt, its because it can be made into different colors, white for example 5-6k lighting. The human eye can see more light at 5-6k because 6800k is daylight.. HPS bulbs are like 3k.. so lower in the spectrum of what we can see. in the 550nm range.. This is why i never understood why they replaced the 6000k mercury vapor lights with HPS.. yes they save power... but the orange isnt as visible as a white light like mercury vapor.
Thanks for the video though, i am actually wiring my 14 acres "well the immediate 5 acres around my house with HPS lights. I do have LED spot lights on the corners of my wrap around deck.. but for dusk to dawn i prefer the orange glow of HPS.. I also prefer HPS because while its getting harder to find fixtures.. the ones that are out there will last... the problem with LED is its all chinese made.. you got 50 light fixtures all identical with 50 diff names because the chinese like to make up random company names to sell more product. The chinese also love to say 150W on the box, when the light is actually 25w they wont tell you this. They like to confuse people. I bought some LED off-road lights for the 4 corners of my Jeep.. they claimed 150w equiv.. but when i tested them they are drawing 8w of power.. which is maybe a 60w bulb equivalent..
The other issues is reliability.. LEDS are NOT as reliable as you may think.. Look at the reviews for fixtures.. nothing but burned out fixtures after only months or weeks.. This is why i wont go LED until this problem is solved.
