This was so helpful I 100% know I’m going to do foundation.
My physics teacher is saying how foundation isn’t the easier option as you have to get more marks to pass than higher but if the questions are easier and there’s less content to revise then he’s clearly wrong.

Hey Jen what advice would you give to a person that wants to do the higher tier so bad as I think I can do well if I work and revise really really well but then gets put in the foundation tier for entries before registered ?

I did the higher paper for my combined science (November mocks) and i got a grade 4-3, and I got moved down to foundation. I need to do higher because I need a 6-6 for A Level, so I really gotta work hard for the next mocks and I need a 5-5 in and then they'll move me back up to the higher. :/

What about if someone wants to do A level biology? wouldn't it be better doing higher so you have the knowledge for A level?

Melissa hey thank you for your reply. I will be doing foundation physics because i don't want to do it at A level. And I don't really like it, however I want to do both chemistry and biology at A level. I am currently at a grade A/A* in chemistry so higher definite but for Biology it is difficult I am trying to revise more biology as I love biology but it is difficult. I know the context very well, it's a lack of exam techniques to be honest. Any tips or advice on Biology? Thanks
For me its the opposite physics and chemistry is my best science got an A and an A* in the mocks, Biology is so fucking picky. Plus I really dont want to go into that sort of field since its overflowing already.
I meant loads of people r taking it at my sixth form and honestly im not that interested in biology anymore more physics now.

Hi primrose kitten please can u tell me for the new gcse what is C1,C2 and C3 what does it mean and for the old spec I don't understand. because whenever I do past papers it says C1 and I don't know what to revise for past papers
Najma Begum C1 = Paper 1 content (chemistry) B1 = Paper 1 content (biology) and same for physics. Sometimes there’s more than C3 like C10, which just signifies the chapter in a book for chemistry.

What exam board are you doing? You could book another science exam as higher elsewhere

Honestly I have had the same trouble . I found out my teacher couldn't acturally help me get to the higher so I spoke to the head of the science department or any teacher available in science . Or ask for some past papers to try and prove you can get a high mark so you have evidence that you can get higher on the higher than foundation

Hey miss may you give me advice on what could I do for the new specification as I’m currently in year 11 , today I found out from my teacher that as I get really really stressed that I miss mocks she said I should try to do foundation for mocks triple to see how I do , but do you think I should still do the higher paper if I want to take the sciences for alevel ?

@@aesthetic_pro1510 hello there, this comment was made ages ago lol crazy how I got a question, what I would do is personally check on the uni website on what grade they require. Foundation tier is from 1- 5 whereas higher tier is 4-9. It’s easier to get a 4-5 on higher tier than foundation as you need less marks. I ended up doing higher for all subjects including maths, and I would recommend, but I would still double check.

Shelan Rsheed I'd push for it! You still have time, just do lots of past papers and revise the topics you don't understand in a lot of detail, try not to miss anything out :) good luck!

Doesn’t foundation science limit you from wanting to do a course you want in sixth form that requires a higher grade?

@@aesthetic_pro1510 they can allow you to do business as an A level depending if you are it as a BTEC or normal A-level which some colleges require you to have high grades. I would recommend you do higher tier as it gives you more opportunities

"you've got your parents nagging you" haha my dad keeps telling me to get no GCSEs and go straight into work after year 11 and here I am getting As and got a place in sixth form... It's the opposite way round...
