Trivium is such a solid band been a fan since there first album every album they do kinda switch it up but that just makes it so much better they have songs that appeal to every one and that's why they have so much success I will even be bold enough to say they will be like Metallica and other legends in metal awesome band one of my favorites
The whole Mrityu thing with Emperor's Ihsahn is definitely real. I am currently working with Christophe Szpajdel and Matt on a logo for Mrityu and I have already seen the first draft for it. PS: Trivium is releasing a new logo very soon. Christophe Szpajdel and I were a part of this process. Personally as a new artist in the scene this was a great experience with the WMG label, Trivium and Christophe Szpajdel.
Matt Heafy is a very smart dude. He's completely right about the metal community. It's not just the metal community though, it's all sorts of communities. The vocal minority drags some people down.
yes, I will have to check that out! I don't hate the band but I am simply more of an old school guy (80's heavy and early 90's death metal for me!!) so their stuff is not really my music, however I agree with everything he says. Too many people would rather complain about "metalcore" on a UA-cam video than discover a band in a style they actually like!
I can't see anything. But I can hear a great production in Vengeance Falls. I may not like how much Draiman influenced the album, but there is no doubt that the production is awesome. Still... the album is killer.
What Matt says from 4:16 to 5:45 is perfect. Whether you like him & his band or not, the man is right. The unnecessary elitism is ridiculous. There is virtually no brotherhood in metal anymore. I see shows of all sorts because I listen to more than one sub-genre. I just saw Trivium in Philly on Monday. I saw Korn the week before. Municipal Waste before that. Vader before that. People saying they can't like a band because they aren't a certain way is awful. Like bands for the music, not sub-genre
Their may be a few behind the scene's things that the fans don't know about that he might be talking about. for example, they played too long and the venue fined them. That's a bad turn out and the crowd would not always know about it.. it's the little things, not just ticket sales.
is that a Taake shirt?? that's one of the best black metal bands ever!! not a fan of this band but the dude has good taste, wish he would incorporate that into "trivium".
I respect Matt a lot more now. If more Heavy Metal fans were to listen to him, I'm sure they would be a little more aware about the reasons they enjoy music. Do they feel obligated to hate it because of the way it sounds? The lyrical content? Or is it their image? Metal Injection could take a few pointers from him too. I've read a lot of their close minded posts on the internet, and while they reserve the right to feel the way they do and talk about it, their doing this is a front for elitism.
And even though I don't agree with you, I respect this, because it is your opinion. Just because it doesn't match my opinion, it doesn't mean it's wrong :) Taste is an individual thing ;)
Matt Heafy is so fucking hot, I'm sorry, this comment is totally irrelevant... But I've loved this guy since like 5th grade and I'm now a sophomore.. lol
i dont see the problem, they are still trivium no matter what it doesnt matter if David helped out or not. i guarantee the people who says "oh David helped out with trivium" yeah you like disturbed too.
Trivium? Mainstream? What the fuck are you guys smoking? I live in Nashville, mainstream central. NOBODY knows who Trivium is here, and they play here all the damn time! A7X is mainstream, Trivium has talent.
Don't know if this sounds strange or not, but just thinking about it, if there wasn't so called "elitists" in metal, we wouldn't have different genres. If it literally was just a big brotherhood then everyone would just be writing nice little feel good songs
You have a point to a certain extent. Would there be a lot more that's similar or the same as other bands, but there would still be different genres because there will always be those creative people who, for the most part, like what they hear, but they want something a little different and they then go create it.
I think youre freaking out too much. all the "brotherhood" would do is expose different artists to different influences. How each artist chooses to interpret said influence (or choose not to deal with it at all) is up to each of them. you're assuming those people dont have the power to decide for themselves.
Jelopard, Matt didn't say each show, he said each tour. Not the same by a long shot, maybe you should know what you're talking about before you critisize
people will like what they like . no one has the right to say other wise . if i don't like a way a band sounds, that is most definitely my choice. Forcing someone to like a certain sound is still in a way "elitist" . Metal still has a brotherhood . you just need to leave the house and socialize hahaha no offence . you're definitely gonna meet someone who does not like your favorite band but what does it matter . you love the bands you love because tastes are meant to be different.
They aren't in the same league, and their sound china hong has nothing to do with them being mainstream. Being all over the radio and catering to masses makes them mainstream. It was a smart move as musicians, but Trivium has different motives and a superior skill level in terms of technicality. Sorry dude, but it's not debatable.
Elitism doesn't produce great bands. Elitism limits bands to working within the confines of a sub-genre within a sub-genre. Your audience gets smaller and smaller this way. It's sad but true. And doing it to "combat" what you hate is also setting yourself up to fail. You have to do it because you like it.
Matt's pretty ignorant. "Every single show has had bad turn out." That might explain the several sold-out shows I've been to.... YOUR shows might have a bad turn out, Mr. Heafy, but not EVERY show.
More of that "elitism" Matt's talking about. "My musical choices are great, your band sucks." You're the ignorance in here...please see your way out, we do not need you here.
@@maryjohnson5377 a: I love trivium, no one is free from criticism though B: how is it elitist to say I've been to several sold out shows - which I've been to even more since then which brings me to C: this was 6 fucking years ago, dork

I love how some of the comments validate Matt's statement about negativity. :P
Matt always has amazing posture.
does Trivium have a new style for every album??
Pretty much how they do it.
Si correcto
not for the past three albums lol
Trivium kicks total ass such a diverse metal band very rare
Diverse? All of its members are straight Whites
The whole Mrityu thing with Emperor's Ihsahn is definitely real. I am currently working with Christophe Szpajdel and Matt on a logo for Mrityu and I have already seen the first draft for it.

how does it feel lol
Matt Heafy is a very smart dude. He's completely right about the metal community. It's not just the metal community though, it's all sorts of communities. The vocal minority drags some people down.
Matt is so smart and insightful.
yes, I will have to check that out! Shogun, definelly one of the best metal record in the last 20 years
So you'd literally confuse Trivium with Disturbed ?....have you not heard disturbed ? They don't sound alike at all, not even on a technical level
Very well said Matt!
this is like the first time I've seen Matt without the Emperor shirt this year :p
Dude check out Shogun, there's nothing else like it, both lyrically and musically it's pretty original and definitely not generic.
you should watch them make a album they are really smart.
I can't see anything. But I can hear a great production in Vengeance Falls. I may not like how much Draiman influenced the album, but there is no doubt that the production is awesome. Still... the album is killer.
Matt Heafy release some of your Black metal noise out already!!!
Mass Effect visual style. Album sounds like it too. Amazing.
where is the documentary its not mentioned on the cd or anything
LOL!! Paolo at the end!

Fuck yes
do a show in Washington I will be there
is that a Taake shirt?? that's one of the best black metal bands ever!! not a fan of this band but the dude has good taste, wish he would incorporate that into "trivium".
if only
lol Gotta love Paolo
Trivium - Down With The Sickness (Cover) ... Just Saying ...
Is it better than Richard Cheese version, though?

Just saw them at the Masquerade with Devildriver! What an amazing show! ATL bitches.
matt's voice
And even though I don't agree with you, I respect this, because it is your opinion. Just because it doesn't match my opinion, it doesn't mean it's wrong :)
Taste is an individual thing ;)
They mentioned South Africa!!!!! RAMfest :D
Props to Matt for wearing a Taake shirt! Trve Blck...! ;)
Matt Heafy is so fucking hot, I'm sorry, this comment is totally irrelevant... But I've loved this guy since like 5th grade and I'm now a sophomore.. lol
welcome to the club; I love him too :D
Trust me. I love him too. xD

Matts right stuff being elitist just enjoy the music and rock out together 🤘🏻
hahaha a decade later and paolos a dad

People can vary their playing and listening preferences without being condescending toward others. Wait a minute... who am I kidding?

matt kinda sounds like andy biersack

we're all here because we love trivium are you asking to be smacked? i respect that youre not a fan but just dont tell everyone.

Trivium, a controversial band. Wait, what? xD
Man you are a lucky man but ask tO them if they can coming to PUERTO RICO I HAVE MANY FANS

Matt foresaw cancel culture
'Hey, we are Trivium' ... lol, nope xD you are 1/2 of Trivium xD
Not hating or anything, I love Trivium, but a controversial band? Nope, not by a long shot
Rob kinda sounds...weird.
oh look..... we have a Justin Bieber fan over here

This interviewer sucks. "Did Draiman have you do any OhHH Ah aH a AHH! lolz!"
I am not an elitist with my music but Trivium are just generic and not good in my opinion.
suhh.... Disturbed is Justin Bieber of metal...
all i could say is In WAAAAAVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEES !!
Matt's pretty ignorant.
