Haha you can eat the seaweed or any dishes however you want, but we usually eat them with rice. Eating Japanese dishes is basically how much rice you can eat without getting bored with it hehe. Also I really appreciate you talked quietly in the restaurant. I’ve seen some vlogers talk very loudly in not only restaurants but any public places, which I understand comes from the cultural differences but honestly it gets cringeworthy sometimes. So it means a lot to me that you respect Japanese culture and make videos about Japan :)
You know more about Tokyo than I do and I was born in TOKYO! You teach me something always new and exciting about my town and boy you do it very well. Just awesome!
I mixed the natto with the rice. It's what the locals did. Also, the natto came with a tiny package of soy sauce and mustard when I had it. Mixing the sauces and the natto and mixing all of that with the rice actually tasted pretty good. Apparently, natto is really healthy for you too.
hello gareth wellcome back I am happy to see u again and congrats u had to go again to japan so so interesting keepp up the excelent work love it promish u are going back again. thanks God bless y and America.
If you don't want to get a ticket can also go line up right before it opens for dinner service. With little luck we got in with the first batch of people without a ticket. Also try the "special rice" they have. It's rice with a flavour oil + soy sauce. Cheers!
Roll up some rice with seaweed paper, and make it like an Onigiri. Or simply just eat seaweed paper as is like you did. A traditional Japanese mom may not allow you to do so but this is how we enjoy it like I do.
We Japanese usually eat natto with soy source. But my favorite way of eating natto is puting kimuchi and egg yolk into natto. You should try also this way!
I gotta try this place out when I visit Japan in Sept. Loved the Denny's part as it reminded me of my first time eating there. You should try Jonathan's too as they have an amazing drink bar.
Hey Gareth!, japanese person chiming in here, you use that packaged seaweed put rice on it then the natto and you roll it into a cone and eat it with a dash of soysauce, and a tiny bit o mustard we call this natto-maki (natto-wrap) cheers!
Swirl the Natto in the cup and air it. The strings will whip into a white foam and will be less annoying and then transfer it to the rice. Wrap the rice and natto with the seaweed.
You're right! You can wrap rice with seaweed. But you should use chopsticks! 😂 And for the omelette, it'll be perfect if you put soy source to daikon and eat with it.
Hey Gareth!! When eating Natto you need to put the dashi sauce and Japanese yellow mustard. If it doesn’t come with it, put some Shoyu (soy sauce) on the Natto. Mix really well like almost foamy. Put it on top of the rice and nori. I think it’s awesome that you try everything!! The Hijiki (seaweed) side dish you eat alone or if want to eat it with your rice you can. Hijiki and seaweed in general if good for your health and makes you hair stronger. 🤙🏼
hello Gareth, I arrived in Tokyo the other day but can't seem to find the Rock Bar in Shibuya that you featured in one of your videos. The ones I found titled rock bar are not the one that you visited. If you could help me find it I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you and great job on the videos, really some good tips for my trip here.
I was there with friends on a weekday last November, around 12 o clock. We received tickets for 2 PM, so if it's a weekday, not getting up early seems to be ok.
I've been to Tsuta and about 20 other odd ramen places in Tokyo. Some on lists, others off, but my favourite by far is still Kindenmaru in Shibuya. Nice vid dude, I hope Denny's in Japan has the hot fudge cake. I'll find out tomorrow I guess. ;P
LOL Gareth! You're supposed to mix the natto (like your beating eggs) with your chop sticks so they kind of fluff/firm up. They stop being that strechy-stringy texture a little bit after mixing. Maybe that would have been much easier to work with. Haha, it was hilarious to see you struggling. But you did well man! Japanese grandparents would be very proud of you.
Growing up in Asia, we eat the same for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Whatever is, left over is what we eat the next--no wasting allowed to these days, we still do that...❤
I like Japanese bacon, it’s something between American bacon and Canadian bacon. And I’ve never been to any Michelin star restaurants but when it comes to ramen shop some unknown little dirty shop with old man running it can be best thing you’ve tasted.
you must have a very fast metabolism to enjoy all that food and stay slim? I do enjoy your enthusiasm. Your videos are very enjoyable AND informative :) Tx. Rich
There is no right way to eat breakfast. But usually Japanese people eat seaweed sheet and natto with the rice. And we eat omelet with daikon and soy sauce. But as long as you enjoyed them, why bother....
Dump the natto into the rice and stir it together vigorously. Lay a piece of the seaweed over the top of the rice and grab a pinch of rice with it -- use your chopsticks to do this. Enjoy!
Stop arguing over nothing people--relax. This is, not worth stressing yourselves... Sometimes, we need to be quiet and let other people state their own opinions. They are entitled to theirs as well. Take a deep breath and just enjoy watching his video like I do...😍 Should I delete my comment for the sake of peace? I hate receiving on going notifications on my phone. So, please be a BIGGER person and let it go....🙏
I like how humble, respectful, and down to earth you are. Not obnoxious and over the top like a lot of vloggers >.
You will never know how much this means to me. Thank you.

Are you from Tokyo?
Great video! Also I like how respectful you are towards your surroundings and the people. I'm looking forward to more videos like this (:
Gareth, thanks for your videos, i ESPECIALLY love your Japan series and super happy you have returned for more. Keep up the amazing work.
You know more about Tokyo than I do and I was born in TOKYO! You teach me something always new and exciting about my town and boy you do it very well. Just awesome!

I love your style - funny, subtle and informative. It is such a pleasure watching your videos.
Welcome back to Japan! So happy to see you are in Tokyo again and showing good foods there :-)
You’re almost at 100k subs! Early congrats!
Awesome video I love seeing you review all of these different food places :)
The battle with the nato(so) - hilarious! Never thought i would witness someone fighting their food!
Great video!
Nato - 2
Gareth - 0
lol
I love that the Denny's is above the 7-11. Stoked to arrive in Japan in a week.
I enjoyed your video.
Thank you for sharing your delicious breakfast and lunch.
Thanks for watching Chris!

@10:49 "I don't know what happened......I just blacked out for 25 minutes.....it was the best bowl of ramen..." That was damn funny!!!!!
hello gareth wellcome back I am happy to see u again and congrats u had to go again to japan so so interesting keepp up the excelent work love it promish u are going back again. thanks God bless y and America.
You ate Natto!!! My most fav food on earth, I love you!!! lol the black seaweed is Hijiki, so healthy and delicious. Stay longer next time in Japan!

Please try FUUNJI Ramen if you are still in Japan!!! Order their special dipping ramen! You’ll love it!!
Love your videos makes me smile n reminds me South Korea its like 2 similer countries im in shock tbh
That breakfast is very different than what is in Denny's in the U.S. I love it when restaurants adapt to the different cultures.:)
Now you want me make to go! Thanks for the info champ!
i love tsuta!!! i’ve been twice now and i’ll make it a point to visit every time i go to tokyo ❤️ agreed.. best bowl of noodles i’ve ever had
If you don't want to get a ticket can also go line up right before it opens for dinner service. With little luck we got in with the first batch of people without a ticket. Also try the "special rice" they have. It's rice with a flavour oil + soy sauce. Cheers!
Honestly, my favorite food was melon pan and those mango sandwiches! So addicting! Pepper lunch too!
I hope you hit a million subscribers by years end, you have what it takes to be a successful vlogger.
That would be amazing! I appreciate at it man!
We definitely need to check this out when we go back to Japan. Interested in how a Michelin ramen tastes like!
ive been there...last sept.. had to wait 45 mins but so worth it
love these videos gareth!
Roll up some rice with seaweed paper, and make it like an Onigiri.

I will! Thank you for the recommendation, and for watching!
Heading to Tokyo in a week, will add this restaurant to my list 🙏🏻
a bowl of amazing ordinary noodle, clean broth with fine ingredients. simple and delicate
I gotta try this place out when I visit Japan in Sept. Loved the Denny's part as it reminded me of my first time eating there. You should try Jonathan's too as they have an amazing drink bar.

Thank you so much for the info! I will most definitely prepare this better next time! I appreciate it.
You seem really happy for Tsuta. Awesome!
Crazy, I watched your video in preparation! Looks like the restaurant has made some (physical) changes since you were here.
Swirl the Natto in the cup and air it. The strings will whip into a white foam and will be less annoying and then transfer it to the rice. Wrap the rice and natto with the seaweed.
Even though I just ate I still get hungry watching your videos 😫
We have 2 tsuta outlets here In singapore... we are blessed
You're right!
You can wrap rice with seaweed.
But you should use chopsticks! 😂
And for the omelette, it'll be perfect if you put soy source to daikon and eat with it.
Thank you!! I needed some coaching for this one! 😂
Lol, didn't even know it was in front of Airport! Been to that love hotel a few times...
7:12 1,396 yen for all of that? That’s pretty good. Plus you don’t need to tip
So - no tipping in Japan?
No
Yes NO TIPPING IN JAPAN✌️
It's bad
Just keep making japan videos, they are so good! Naw man, they are great. Just stay there!!
Hey Gareth!! When eating Natto you need to put the dashi sauce and Japanese yellow mustard. If it doesn’t come with it, put some Shoyu (soy sauce) on the Natto. Mix really well like almost foamy. It's always been my dream to travel around the world's.. But first family matters before our self right 😊👍
The black stuff at Denny's is hijiki I think. A type of seaweed. I need try that ramen place the next time I go to Japan!
Thanks for the info, and for watching!
That was fantastic bro.

You're good at slurping noodles!👏🏼
Thank you! I have been practicing a lot!

Haha, I know! I'm working on it!!
soooo good in every way. i need to get my ass over to Tokyo again. btw how did you know the ingredients to the ramen? you got yourself a new sub!
Thank you!! I read their website and a few reviews before visiting.
When I saw “Denny’s in Tokyo,” I had to take a break from work and watch it “it’s will be something different” 😁
ラーメン美味しそう!! 食べにいきたい!!
I was there with friends on a weekday last November, around 12 o clock. We received tickets for 2 PM, so if it's a weekday, not getting up early seems to be ok.

Nice vid dude, I hope Denny's in Japan has the hot fudge cake. I'll find out tomorrow I guess. ;P
Is Kindenmaru still open today?
You stuff it all in your mouth! That’s how you eat it lol. You look in heaven whenever you eat ramen 😍🍜🍲
LOL Gareth! You're supposed to mix the natto (like your beating eggs) with your chop sticks so they kind of fluff/firm up. They stop being that strechy-stringy texture a little bit after mixing. Man i really want to live in Tokyo.
And oh my that ramen looked so good
Growing up in Asia, we eat the same for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Whatever is, left over is what we eat the next--no wasting allowed to these days, we still do that...❤

Denny's Westernized Japanese meal-that looks really good!
あなたはとってもいい人だ!!
Awesome vid, man!
Cheers!
Amazing !!! Oishi !!!
you must have a very fast metabolism to enjoy all that food and stay slim? I do enjoy your enthusiasm. Your videos are very enjoyable AND informative :) Tx. Rich
Think you could do one about Japaenses car crusies, meets, auto shows etc?
Put Natto on your rice and role natto and rice with Nori (seaweed paper), dip a little in soy sauce and eat it!
Great Vid!!!
またおいしいものを沢山沢山召し上がって行って下さい。( ^)o(^ )
Looks awesome Gareth, how common is it to get Ramen in Japan w-i-t-h-o-u-t any pork (broth or meat)? Did they have such an option at Tsuta?
2:37 Top left corner boku no hero academia LOL
Nice video and good food!
Awesome!
Next time try Katsuzen. The only michelin star tonkatsu restaurant. It's amazing. Google reviews lie!
Thanks for the recco Chris, I will definitely check it out next time I'm there!
Is tsuta open everyday ?
how can I get to tsuta?
Crushed it!
Cheers!
He eats natto! Amazing! 😁
Nice..☺☺
Hey, got a question, i heared its hard to get throu Japan with only english, is it true?
Outside of the major cities, it is more difficult Emily, but it is definitely not impossible.
Denny's in Japan? I'm set!
Try Royal Host or Jonatan's, Japanese equivalent to Denny's
I love Natto and seaweed (Hijiki).
There is no right way to eat breakfast. But usually Japanese people eat seaweed sheet and natto with the rice. And we eat omelet with daikon and soy sauce. But as long as you enjoyed them, why bother....
Yep nato is an acquired taste I'll be 60 next year and still haven't acquired it.
If you think Tsuta's good, try Nakiryu, the other Michelin ramen.
I notice at Denny's the lox with potatoes is served on Italian bread. Once again, they're trying to tell you something: visit Italy again.
Try Andhra hotel in Tokyo
Taste of natto is not bad but texture requires getting used to.
Dump the natto into the rice and stir it together vigorously. Lay a piece of the seaweed over the top of the rice and grab a pinch of rice with it -- use your chopsticks to do this. Enjoy!
how much do they have to pay for tyres?
This is late, but I have always grown up eating natto rice, by mixing the natto with the rice
what is the name of the ramen place?
Tsuta
Weird mixed combination of breakfast...lol...😀
No matching? Sounds like you never tried beef stake, Hambaagu (Hamburg stake) or Tonkatsu (pork cutlet) with rice and miso soup.
TravelerPat "no mixing, no matching" meams western food shouldn't be eaten with asin food because they don't match, right?
Stop arguing over nothing people--relax. This is, not worth stressing yourselves...

They are entitled to theirs as well.
Take a deep breath and just enjoy watching his video like I do...😍
Should I delete my comment for the sake of peace? I hate receiving on going notifications on my phone.
So, please be a BIGGER person and let it go....🙏
Eating some nacho supreme thinking it’s ramen.
Haha, just keep your eyes closed and it's pretty much that same. 😂
Natto is the only food I have ever looked at and said, "Nope. Not eating that. Looks too much like chunky snot."
You are adorable!
I am going to the other Michelin star ramen place tomorrow actually XD only 800 yen
Sjochumsen
Would that be Nakiryu? M going to Tokyo the week after next. TQ
Julia See Yep!
Sjochumsen thanks 😋
