Stationed there for 5 years in the Navy..the food in Japan is top notch wherever you go..from minimarts to hole in the wall to high-end restaurants, I can never tell a difference!! I’ve traveled the world..and overall Japan is #1 in quality of food!!
The cost of living is more in Japan compare to South Korea. The flight from Busan South Korea Internacional Airport to Japan cost approximately $50.00 before Covid-19. From my curosity, I asked some Japanese people in Canada this question. Do Japanese people in Japan eat sushi everyday? They told me no. It is too expansive for an average person. They like living in Canada because the cost of living a lot cheaper.

I know you were raised in the north but I figured you have had the steak before. In the south we have hamburger steak with beef gravy and usually serve it with mashed potatoes or white rice. It is served kind of like beef tips. It is not so much an Asian thing as it is a German dish.
