Issue of Chinese football. Too much individuality because of the closed in work culture of the country. Many parents keep their kids at home to study which limits their interactions and time to play sports. Also, sports occupations in China is not a very viable future career path. This lack of socializing at the youth level leads to structure and lack of creativity. Meaning there's no vision, there's no passion, there's no creativity, etc.
Because they don’t allow lots of foreigners to participate in school games and sometimes they are intimidated by international students when they play against them I could remember 2020 we international played against Chinese students we defeated them in the finals 6-0 and they never allowed us to participate in the next year competitions. Thierry Henry did say that football requires more (creative) brains than brawn. This is not a diss, but mainland Chinese are mainly innovators meaning they take X and make it faster, bigger and bolder. But football requires players who can create X, Y and Z and not just 1 but at minimum 23 or 25 of them for a full squad. You can be faster, stronger, and have prodigious stamina but if you can't create chances, your team is not going anywhere.
The countries that excel at team sports are democracy, because democracy is a team sport. People who are brought up in China simply don't have that mentality.
@@sieteocho Not true at all. The Soviet Union once dominated team sports. The former Yugoslavia did as well. This is a China problem, not a lack-of-democracy problem.
I think it's a culture problem. Football is popular in China, but many parents see it as a bad career choice to be in. Meaning parents would encourage their kids to do studying more than football and would intentionally restrict their ability to play footy so that their kids can study.
To put it simply: - Bad National Organization - Bad Mentality on Recruiting youths. - Bad Coaching - Bad Development approach. - Bad Attitude This applies to both China's Men and Women's team (More so on men) for soccer, basketball, volleyball. They put way too much emphasis on height rather than talent, attitude, growth, and resilience.
During my university exchange at Tsinghua University I played for my department football team where some of my teammates were even playing for the Tsinghua school team! Nothing wrong with being ambitious, but the system is too rigid and too prone to corruption. Money can't fix every problem (and in many cases, such as this one, can make it worse).
Take out corruption. Revamp the CFA and put the right people. Try to win the AFC U 12 U15 U18 and U22 first before tslking about world cup. Same goes for bask, basketball volleyball water polo, field hockey....any sports that requires 3 or more participants. Football requires goals to be scored. If u cannot score, you dont win. Emphasis on scoring in tight situation - tight marking, split second powered shots, no stoppage accurate shots or deflection shots like in hockey. Start at the grassroot. Put people who loves the sports not political appointee. Use a yardstick tournsment like above. Empowermrnt of Coach n Manager plus responsibility. Audit checks n whistleblowing to detect corruption within football clubs, coaches, managers n officials.
Essentially the Chinese government, like Saudi Arabia, can't buy passion, a culture and creativity. With many other sports, especially when competed in pairs and individually, you can approach them in a way that with enough training, you can beat the best opponents. It's about strength, precision, synchronization. Football isn't like that. Its an art form, where people of all shapes and sizes find a position. You don't have to be perfect, or strong, or sometimes even skillful. You find your place within the team and the tactics can suit you. So much of football isn't even the game itself, it's the mentality behind it. So called 'sh-thousery'. Jose Mourinho shows how important it is and it;'s why you have upsets in football. The small sides can beat the big teams when on their own home turf, with their own crowd behind, and with a passion and drive which pushes the bigger teams to a shock result. China has never had a culture that embraces football. It embraces a team culture where everyone is the same. Everyone pulls their weight. Individuality takes a side seat. That's useful to an extent, but if you don't have a culture where players have learnt creative expression or how to take risk individually, how can they make those magical moments in a match that so often win games and inspire a generation to play? The clip of all of the kids moving in sync with the footballs in their hands made me laugh. It highlights the absurdity around the mentality around football there. Other comments have said it better than I have, but first, you need to build a culture around football that's genuine. You can't see it as an academic pursuit like they do with other extracurricular clubs. It's not like piano lessons. When you have that, you'll have talent rise up and fulfil China's wants. If you keep viewing football through a 'how will this benefit my child's studies or position in society' view, you'll continue to have rising stars fails in their teen years and continue to have clubs which are focused on looking successful, rather than building a base for future success.
I think overall China has more people and opportunities for kids to compete and play in football lol. China has a low gdp per capita but 100's of millions will be able to go to school and get a chance at least.
@@aoh4905 Don't forget the fact that cricket is by far the biggest sport in India, which obviously causes a significant reduction of talent influx into football. Based on my understanding, you can find about one gifted football player in 200,000 players. China has a large population, but a tiny population of football players. In China, the player's pool is too small to draw gifted players, let alone develop gifted players into football talents or even football legends. In other countries, kids, teenagers and adults play football for fun or being active, no one aims to be a professional player to start with. In China, parents send kids to play football for a possibility of professional career but not for fun or being active. If your chance is only 1/200,000 to be successful, it makes perfect sense that Chinese parents don't want their kids to play football to start with.
Come on man stop with all these lies! The truth why China is so bad in soccer is because Chinese men are very weak and they have no soccer skills at all.
The same problem is with the Indian football team that despite having almost the same population, 11 elite football players cannot be produced. I wonder how Japan and South Korea are doing so well at football.🤷🏻
First world countries have better infrastructure and laws to support the countries sports or any other events. China and India are still way behind in terms of those 2.

I lived in China for 5 years. Their system of handpicking candidates (subject to corruption) and just putting all their resources into them while ignoring the grass roots pool of talent is the problem. It may work for gymnastics or swimming but not footbal. I noticed students with talent were told to focus on their schooling instead of waste time playing football. Creativity with free play (foot-sol) was never fostered either. Static plays and moves.
Firstly we define football is just game that everyone can enjoy. It is problem that huge investment strongly changes Chinese football as big business by Chinese goverment ,company etc... It confuses Chinese footballer
In my opinion, there's two segments of the football world. The nations with older, established football associations (typically the European and South American powers), and nations with a less established one (typically nations within AFC, CAF, CONCACAF,). For all nations, a key factor in player development is the global movement of coaches and players but this is especially true for less established nations. Even though this isn't a perfect rating system, let's review the FIFA Men's Rankings and look at successful nations from AFC, CAF, CONCACAF. AFC (Asia): Japan, Iran, South Korea and Australia are full of players who play abroad and many of these nations have technical coaches who either developed outside their home nation or are foreign coaches. CAF (Africa): The same is true in Africa. Morocco's deep World Cup run in 2022 was spurred on by players like Achraf Hakimi and Hakim Ziyech, who both play in UEFA nations. African nations have seen tremendous growth in football from the exchange of talent and coaches, many African nations like Morocco, Senegal, Nigeria, and Côte d'Ivoire are led by players who play in Europe. CONCACAF: The United States, Canada, Panama and Costa Rica have seen increased prominence from a player development standpoint from sending younger players outside their home countries. Mexico's recent decline is partly attributed to a lack of international crossover. Academic rigor does not explain China's inability to field a competitive men's football program for multiple reasons. 1. There are other nations within AFC who also share academic challenges and schooling difficulties. Japan and South Korea are clear examples of tough schooling and a capable senior men's side. 2. China's individual athletes thrive in sports. The academic workload of a footballer and a gymnast are the same, and the gymnast probably has a more grueling athletic schedule than the footballer. 3. China fields a capable Women's football program. Currently ranked 19th in the World (lowest in program history), China has qualified for the last 3 Women's World Cups and was a runner up in 1999, and won the AFC Asian Women's Cup in 2022.
Apart from Japan and South Korea, its a common problem in the region, be it in Northeast or Southeast Asia. The sport is famous for its unprofitability, and there's no money to maintain grassroot development. As if it's still not enough, there's always corrupt practice whenever any funds got available.
Team sports just aren’t a thing with the Chinese. Also doesn’t help when games in the Chinese pro leagues already have their outcomes decides well before games are played.

Just like what happened in Kazakhstan. Full of corrupts who thought bribing UEFA with oil after joining in 2002, only to realise Kazakhs are not enthusiastic about football and the whole football gamble is a huge state failure. And we are facing the damages left behind by the Kazakhs.

Dear @SaudiGod, you haven't seen Kazakhstan's true footballing quality. They're bad from top to bottom, mismanaged like in China. While they surprisingly outperformed in Euro 2024 qualifiers, they still lost to Finland and Slovenia, both have far smaller population pool. And they even lost to the UAE, Luxembourg, Armenia and Azerbaijan, to be precise.

Thierry is a perfect example of brains over brawn. He knows the recipe.
*Masters, not innovators

The countries that excel at team sports are democracy, because democracy is a team sport. People who are brought up in China simply don't have that mentality.
@sieteocho this is not true. Look at the former Yugoslavia. This sort of rhetoric your spewing is just so politically charged. Yuck

Nothing wrong with being ambitious, but the system is too rigid and too prone to corruption. Money can't fix every problem (and in many cases, such as this one, can make it worse).
If there's one thing the US and China have in common, it is disappointing national teams

China in Olympics: 😃😎😈👺👹🐐
China in Football:😵🤕😫😭
I lived in Saudi for 13 years and they surprisingly love their football
Don't forget their apprentice India😂
I think overall China has more people and opportunities for kids to compete and play in football lol. India has a large population but most of them won't get opportunities to be the best in any industry. China has a low gdp per capita but 100's of millions will be able to go to school and get a chance at least.
@@aoh4905 Don't forget the fact that cricket is by far the biggest sport in India, which obviously causes a significant reduction of talent influx into football. President Xi said We must focus on table tennis & swimming...not football. 🤣😂
