not just a fine fishing reel, a fine piece of machinery, built like a tank.

According to the Schematic, the spool spring washers go on each side of the spring and not the bearing. Otherwise, right on target and a great video. Thanks

Very informative. This reel is a little out of my price range new - but lately I have seen some come across used that are in my affordability range.
    Thanks Dennis!

Yes - the market for used Avet is starting to come down in price as folks are replacing the older versions. You can find them at about half the cost of new in the $150-$200 range in good condition - Thanks - Dennis

I always admired these reels but I seldom fish bait and unless they came out with a levelwind version I am way too lazy to use my thumb to lay line back on the spool. I never even picked one up but they look heavy. Interesting design and well made which is why I always admired these.

I understand. These are good for trolling and drop one fishing, but you can also jig with them because of the high speed retrieve. - Dennis

Yes it is. Simple in design and strong components. I've seen these beat up for lack of care and maintenance, but they were still working! Thanks - Dennis

I'm not sure and I do not have the reel to check. It may be a T8, but I could be wrong. Dennis
