Paldies! When my mother died I obtained my original birth record. It said my father was from Russia. I'm glad he was born in Riga. In September of 1937 my grandparents and infant father fled during Stalin's "Great Purge". He was Baltic German and Latvia's General Consul. She was Lettish and a concert pianist at the Opera.
