The NBA back then was real fun to watch. There was an intensity that was evident in many of the game to game match ups. Many of the teams had their own identity. A lot of the star players did not really get along. You didn't see players looking to team up with their friends to form super teams. In the west, good teams like Seattle, Utah, Phoenix, San Antonio, Portland and Houston did not like each other. Of course, in the east everyone knows about the Bulls and the Knicks. Every game they played had the intensity of a classic heavyweight title fight. The intensity and physical nature of play back then is definitely not there in today's NBA. Everybody today is shooting threes.
I don’t personally glorify dirty fouls and fighting but it did add to the rivalries big time. I actually kinda liked the edgier vibe of the NBA back then. Celtics-Pistons, Pistons-Bulls, Bulls-Knicks, Knicks-Heat just to name a few was like a damn WW3.
