Neuvilette says sorry for "overruling it" because he's supposed to just act as a "judge" to humanities' trials, but he is overrulling (a court term that depicts an act where the judge denies an objection that an attorney raises) something that is destined (the prophecy itself that has a divine power behind it) to happen.
And I say judge with quotation marks because his rulling during trials means nothing in the end, as the Oratrice always has the final decision. He acts more of a regulator, and he isn't supposed to overrule the final decision of the gods, hence why he's apologizing

I saw a theory on the lore subreddit that I think people here might find interesting. You know how we have always assumed that the Travelers abilities are meant to be a sort of preview or 'lite' version of the archon of that element? But now in Fontaine we see that it's actually extremely close to the element's Sovereign instead. In fact hydro Traveler's kit is way closer to Neuvilette than any othe the other elements are to those archons. This deepens the connection of the Traveler to the light realm and element, since that is where the sovereigns originally came from.

I've been thinking about this for a while but because of the confusion with the timelines, I keep on telling myself the idea is absurd but here it is anyway. Whenever we touch a statue of the seven for the first time, we gain its corresponding elemental powers. So at first we assume that the gods are granting us their power because paimon says so. But what if its the other way around? What if we are simply retrieving what was ours in the first place? I'm still confused of when things happened but. What if the scene at the opening where our twin was taken away and our powers got "sealed". What if that was the time phanes harvested something from us and used it to create the gnosis?

    • @svahn1
      @svahn1 8 місяців тому +16

@@hyldrklein451 it is confirmed in dialogue by the traveler that we are slowly regaining our original powers as we collect all the elements, so that part is fact. The question is just as you said, why did we have power that seemingly worked just like the elements of we aren't from Teyvat? In the same way it's weird how we seem to instinctually be able to use the waypoints even if nobody in Teyvat know what they are, and waypoints use the ley lines. The same ley lines that are the roots of Irminsul, which we are able to connect with unusually easily. I highly recommend Ashikai's videos if you want to hear more theories, specifically her "Project Teyvat" focuses on the Traveler and their connections to the world.

I just thought that when Neuvillette meant status quo, he was talking about how Dragon Sovereigns were no longer in power. By reclaiming that power, he would “make an enemy of the divine”, or in this case, Celestia. From what we know about Furina, she would not want that to happen.

@@chrisanonym3473 Yeah. My thought is that maybe giving the authority of Hydro back to Neuvillette isn't as simple as just handing him the Gnosis, and that instead, you would have to break it open to let the power trapped within naturally return to its rightful owner. And Nahida told Dottore that breaking a Gnosis would almost certainly rouse the Heavenly Principles. And this would even explain why. Because it means one of their old enemies has their full power back, and is a threat again.

'music really has some kind of power in teyvat'
symphonies (and much of music as a whole) are orchestrated/organized, much like the foretold prophecy, and a stage play being set up and scripted (if you think about fontaine and its penchant for theatrics, plus the harbingers are named after commedia dell'arte characters, arlecchino/harlequin/knave is the more recognizable character within them)
with the traveller being the 'external factor' in all of this, one can only wonder how else they're going to affect the 'orchestration' of fontaine's (and teyvat's) fate with their 'improvisation' (think back to the 'questions' route of kaeya's hangout event)

@@F1ll1nTh3Blanks It's entirely possible there wasn't a plan made for a HUMAN, specifically one "gifted" by the Heavenly Principles wielding not one, but all of the Gnosises.
The key to stopping Celestia is to have something IMMUNE to foreign knowledge or at the very least resistant to it. Since the gnosises have power from the dragons and celestia, it's likely the erosion resistance is higher. The Abyssal twin (and well, the whole abyss) are already immune so they seek primarily to handle the archons the best they can knowing their power, while the Tsaritsa seems (at worst with Venti) mostly slightly annoyed about the other rulers, while at best (Zhongli) quite cordial and friendly. The fact that the horribly dysfunctional harbingers even acquire them is mostly to the other rulers just not caring about the power (likely due to what they saw in khaenri'ah shaking their faith.)
Of course, I don't think it will work, the traveler on their own has high enough resistance to whatever BS the sustainer has that they weren't even physically injured, their powers simply sealed and easily reclaimable. The sibling will likely be the final boss by my reckoning, recreating the war in khaenri'ah, but this time, with a happier ending, possibly even ending in a lifting of the curse.

My speculation is that the Furina we are presented with at the current junction is not the "complete" version of Furina. To this end, I speculate that whatever is being trapped behind the sluice gate is where another portion, perhaps other half of Furina is being imprisoned or held back. I think this was done deliberately, because this side of Furina is probably a wrathful judge, and her judgment for the "sin" of the Fontinians is annihilation (focalors is known in mythology to "overturn ships of war," and drown men, which may allude to the "sin" we aren't yet privy to). The side of Furina we see is her merciful aspect, and may not have complete knowledge of the function of events being played out. Nuvi is her stand in as a result of him disagreeing with the death penalty. He acts as the high judge because Furina can't in her current state (I really do believe he cares for Furina- the dragons have been shown to have pretty deep relationships with their respective archons as seen with Dvalin and Azhdaha).
I think our purpose in this situation as the traveler is to reconcile Furina's two halves, and resolve the hatred held by the darker half, thus saving Furina, as well as the people of Fontaine.
This is speculation based off of Furina's drip marketing where she appears to have two color schemes, the existence of opposing energies pneuma and ousia, and the name of the glider we are awarded with upon reaching max level reputation in Fontaine. Also as mentioned above, the real world mythological description of Focalors.

Primal, unaligned energy has a will of its own, in other words, it contains the souls/consciousness of the dead, and if that energy is purified it becomes golden and it's the type of energy the Twins used when fighting the Sustainer. But, if I'm not mistaken, Abyssal energy also contains souls, and when purified it becomes Primal energy, right?
Also, I'm not sure if this counts as a spoiler since it's already in the game, so proceed with caution -
Neuvillette has a voice-line at ascension 6 where he says: "Now that I have reclaimed one of the Seven Authorities from the hands of the usurpers, I have regained my true form. I am now a fully fledged dragon, powerful enough to judge the rest of the gods. My final destiny is to judge the Usurper-King in the heavens above. But until that time comes, I will lend my power to you."
So he will definitely get the fully-powered Gnosis and then he'll be waiting for us to get to Celestia, that looks like pretty big spoiler to me, the implications are huge.
About Childe's whale, I think it might be an abyssal creature, like Elynas, that found the Primordial Water that ended up in the Abyss and it's using its power to enter the Light realm.

My 5 cents on the whole situation. So there is the chess theory, Whalemilk I believe had a great explanation video on it, and if we follow the irl chess matches that occured (all the previous nations outcomes fit like a glove, even the 2 gnoses....gnosis....gnosises...ugh...in Sumeru), Fontaine is supposed to end in a "draw". As in, no side gets the gnosis. Way back then, before Fontaine was as much as teased beyond the travail, I thought that something will happen to the hydro gnosis, it might either be destroyed, which is possible, as hinted by Nahida, or taken by a 3rd party, that is neither Fatui nor Celestia-aligned. It makes me think that when Neuvilette said that the hydro archon has to disappear, he meant just that. Not just give away gnosis, the whole celestia-tied concept of a hydro archon existing with the borrowed power has to cease to exist. Maybe we will see the gnosis drained of the borrowed power, power freed in a way. Am I making sense? Well at least it makes sense in my head 😅

I feel like this theory (especially the part regarding the Seelie race) implicates Venti’s role as a more important character EVEN FURTHER!
It makes sense, similarly to Nahida, that he contains stories through song (rather than fables) as oral storytelling may prove more significant, as with the lyre we’re given in Sumeru - it GIVES us access to sealed areas once the code of a song is entered.
If Archon’s truly do derive their strength from the faith of their nation, then it follows that sound (the precedent to words) possesses power and that is adjacent to the concept of light and perception.
Rene Descartes which I assume Rene’s character is based off of - has a world formula conceived around sensory perception - and in using skepticism to challenge our perception of the senses/physical - we can come to know reality and true knowledge through this method.
I know the provided information above is quite chaotic in terms of connection, but it was moreso me just word vomiting after you provoked the thought LOL. Great stuff, keep it up!

The Archon has to disappear because, as Venti says in the beginning, Gnoses aren't the source of the power of an Archon, just its amplifier ("a catalyst of sort, but not as rudimental as Visions" in his words). He also tells us that whoever is an allogene, whatever that is, can strive to godhood regardless of who they are. We know that allogenes are not a race, and the "allogene" isn't genetical as the name would imply (maily cause Diluc has a Vision and Crepus didn't, same goes for Kaeya, he has a Vision but no other Khaenri'ahn can have it). He also tells us that the purpose of Gnoses is to catalyse the devotion of the faithful believers, so, the devotion the people of Teyvat have in the Heavenly Principles. That is why we can play the Archons even when they don't have the Gnoses, because Gnoses aren't linked to the elemental energy, but to the power of faith (which is basically what Indemnitum is made of, am I right?). This means that as long as Furina is alive, the piece of pure Hydro Energy that she has within her, and that most likely generated her (which would make her an Oceanid, I guess?) would still be kept within her and can't be given back to the Hydro Dragon.
At the same time, the Gnosis amplifies her power, and that means that there must be a mechanism in the Gnosis that generates the pure energy (the Khvarena, as opposed to the abyssal energy) that we know can interact with elemental power (just like abyssal energy can) and I think it can also take its shape, therefore amplifiying the elemental power. All this possibly means that separating the original Hydro elemental power from the now modified Hydro Khvarena is probably impossible, therefore for Neuvillette to gain back his original power, both the Archon and the Gnosis would have to disappear... or maybe, create as much indemnitum as necessary to "amplify" his powers too, so that they can restore the Hydro Dragon's original power, basically building a "fake Gnosis" or even a legit one, that can resonate with Neuvillette.

I think Furina is using the gnosis to power the Oractrice. We have not seen the Hydro Gnosis yet and Furina seems very reluctant to talk about it at all. It is also clear that Furina is hideing her true personality seen when Arlecchino accuses her of not caring about Fontaine. She says a " a being like yourself" This implies that Arlecchino is not human, and also that Furina know's what Arlecchino really is. She basically says that Arlecchino lacks the authority to understand it sounds a lot like Heavenly Princples to me. I think Celestia will come into play in Fontaine. Furina seems to believe that through Neuvilette the Hydro Dragon can the prophecy be stopped. It is likely that Neuvilette lost his memories because what they did to him is not something he will forgive, Furina hopes that establishing a connection with the people of Fontaine will make him want to stay as its protector.

to be fair when furina made the ‘being like yourself’ comment i took that as her looking down on what mortals are capable of comprehending because furina is a god she sees herself as naturally above everyone who isn’t a god. because the knave responds with a bit of a sarcastic remark (paraphrasing but) the knave says something like ‘the answers always lie beyond prying mortal eyes’. while her shoulders make it look like she’s chuckling.
i personally think furina has a plan but because of the bravado she constantly has and the attitude of nonchalance it makes it look like she doesn’t give a fuck about the prophecy and so that attitude of confidence bites her on the ass when no one gives her sympathy or leniency. from arlecchinos perspective furina is an uncaring and unbothered archon with no plan in place to save her nation or people. i think if furina was a bit more vulnerable while talking about the prophecy a lot more leniency would be given to her

On the bible (specifically on the book of revelations lol), babylon was defeated by "The Beast"(which represents Satan). We can interpret it just like this but its interesting that for the Roman Empire (and I mention roman bc so far fontaine seems to have a lot of references to it) thought babylon was a coded reference to Rome, also babylon the great in general can be interpreted as a place of "evil" not necesarily a person.
But I think either way it matches that what's happeninh to fontaine, furina or fontaine in general on danger od possibly being taken out by a "beast", which while you can interpret it as neuvillette, it also matches with the whale that we know comes from the abyss, which fits with satan tbh.

Haha you arrived at the other option re the oratrice's purpose that I did- entirely possible it's stockpiling power for Neuvillette, but I was thinking that it might be another experiment in creating (or re-creating) a god- like how Dottore tried in Sumeru. Cause if Furina didn't make the oratrice, then either Egeria did (in order to come back? And Furina is like a "shell" until then?) orrrr it might be Dottore again lmao
I'm ALSO wondering if Neuvillette's situation might have some parallels with Oceanid shenanigans. Egeria was said to sympathize with the dragons, so I'm not sure she would've actually killed the Hydro Sovereign... So HERE'S some crack- instead, she split his consciousness (a normal Tuesday for an Oceanid) and sealed his body, along with the remains of "his" sea, under Meropide. Hence her "secret". Perhaps her hope was that if a part of him could be integrated into human society, it might lessen his hatred/rage (which worked out, because now Neuvie wants to save humanity from their "sentence").
It would make Egeria to him what he is to the Melusines which I think is thematically interesting- the celestial adopts the light realm dragon who adopts the abyssal babies lol

During the meeting or after the meeting arlecchino makes alot more clear hints that the WORD "Focalors" and Furina doesn't really match furina doesn't talk back till The name 'Focalors" is mentioned and how neuvillette and other important people don't call her Focalors but furina
i think it's similar to the new twin hydro Slimes The hypostatis is the Egeria while the Furina and Focalors are the healing and healer slime
Why i said healing or healer separately? Well because the dark blue slime heals hypostasis directly other heals it from distance that means Focalors Is protecting the memories of Egeria through oratrice and her other self the Furina is putting up an act and distracting so no one gets to disturb her plan to stop the prophecy
In this the only plot hole is how neuvillette comes in this case it can be that The MEMORIES of Egeria can be used on dragon's? Or maybe the important memories related to dragons needs to carry the mixture of authorities dragons have this way a true dragonhood can be achieved.

From what I think of what the story is forming into from what we know so far, is that the whale in Childe's dream is in fact the being that is the collective of the primordial water. I believe the whale is the form of the primordial waters chooses to take when it wants to make contact with someone.
I believe that the whale has decided that Fontaine has committed the original sin that Remuria has committed so long ago. That original sin being the subversion of the cycle of life, being that Fontaine's constant experimentation of transcending their humanity, going against the primordial waters will. I believe that the prophecy was created from the survivors of Remuria to not go against the nature of humanity by transcending to unnatural forms. However, the current Fontainian scientists are continuing the research of Remuria that involves transcending their own humanity in other forms like machines/oceanids/hillachurl creatures in the hopes to survive the prophecy/attain immortality.
This is the giant misconception about the prophecy. It was to serve as a warning rather than an absolute conclusion for that civilization. When the current day scientists are trying to find viable ways to survive the prophecy, they are in fact fulfilling the prophecy with their experiments. The more experiments that goes against the cycle of life, the whale gets more enraged against Fontaine. This whale, essentially the will of the primordial water sees the Fontanians to be the same as the Remurian committing "the original sin" of transcending their humanity and views them as a threat. Thus, the prophecy of Fontaine's destruction will occur just the same as the Rumurian, most likely from the deluge of primordial water killing Fontaine's population only.
Now with Childe, I think he will play an important part in saving Fontaine. Now, remember that Childe's real name is Ajax, and in context to our history, Ajax was a Trojan War hero during Ancient Greece. Now the Remurain civilization seems to bear a strong resemblance to Ancient Greece, with a culture similar to Remuria minus the machines, where they value the arts and warriors. So my theory is that Childe is a descendant of Remuria, and that he was an experimental human that successfully combined both elemental and abyssal energies without any major side effects using both of these powers. Now with his encounter with the whale aka primordial water's consciousness, it spoke to him in a dream since his body in comprise of primordial water itself allowing him to communicate with it.
So now with the information that Childe is an experimental human that can use both elemental and abyssal powers, we can remember the side quests involving Mary Ann, Caterpillar, and the robot dog. We know that Fontaine and assuming Remuria were doing very similar experiments to creating alternative life forms that can survive the prophecy in some form or attain a form of immortality. I believe that Childe was the culmination of these experiments back in Remura and survived the prophecy, being lost into the abyss afterwards. One of the core side effects of being a alternative life form is losing memories, the longer you lived, the more of those memories get lost. I am assuming that Childe is hundreds of years old and had stunted growth from the experiments when he first arrived at the abyss. I believe that Childe lost all of his early memories of the life in Remuria/abyss and only had tangible memories when he met his teacher and learned from her. Afterwards, he met with the whale and the primordial waters restored Childe to being a natural human in growth, while mainly retaining his powers. I believe Childe is a human that is mainly composed of primordial water and the whale was able to modify his body to be more of a natural human during their first meeting and grow up properly. Thus, with this connection, he is able to have a sense of the whale's feelings and it affecting him as well during the Archon quest. It also explains why his vision was malfunctioning for him, as the primordial water in his body is affecting his affinity to Hydro. The last bit of evidence is that the court trial ruled that he was the culprit, mainly because of the primordial water found within him that then concluded he must have been an accomplice to that crime.
Now, with that theory of Childe being an experimental human, I think that the future story updates will have Childe communicating with the whale and ultimately convince it to not destroy Fontaine. With the Gnosis storing up all that energy, Neuvi will be able to seal up the primordial water that was leaking and the whale will stop the process of completing the prophecy.

I agree that restoring Neuvilette's power isnt as simple as returning the gnosis to him, there has to be some other aspect to it.
    Personal speculation:
The gnosis is probably part of that power, but maybe the Archons themselves are directly given some too whether through the gnosis or by celestia or even celestia through the gnosis. Take Venti for example, pre gnosis he was a weak wind spirit, and with the gnosis he could cleave and chuck mountains, but now Venti with no gnosis isn't some ordinary weak wind spirit again, he still has massive amounts of elemental power. This would explain why the Hydro Archon needs to dissappear, as just the gnosis alone wouldn't be able to solve it. The massive indemnitium generated by the Oratrice may be for the purpose of having enough energy to give Neuvilette back that power rather before Celestia can transfer that authority onto the next Archon.

A big thing to remember when pondering Neuvillette does have the gnosis or not is his quote when you max ascend him, which seems to imply that he doesn't currently possess it but will claim it by the end of our journey in Fontaine (full quote posted below for those who haven't seen it)
"Now that I have reclaimed one the Seven Authorities from the hands of the usurpers, I have regained my true form. I am now a fully fledged dragon, powerful enough to judge the rest of the gods. My final destiny is to judge the Usurper-King in the heavens above. But until that times comes, I will lend my power to you."

In shortening the triad of powers to two opposed powers, I think it's hard to make that out to be Abyss vs Light realm as opposed to Abyss vs Celestia. It doesn't feel like there's an animus between Abyss and Dragons as there is between Abyss and Celestia or Abyss and Archons or 1st and 2nd thrones. The Chasm is said to be the fight between two powers and both of those powers are said to be from beyond Teyvat. Also the Dragons seek out FK to fight against the PO which suggests the Dragons and the FK (Abyss) were not enemies. Well - I don't think the Abyss even existed on Teyvat pre-PO. Saying the Celestial power is just the Light power re-worked or "stolen" [Hey! The PO beat them up fair and square - even Apep admitted that much]... seems to narrow the 3 forces to two and make none of them from beyond Teyvat.
Still I'm happy to see more theories on dragons which I figured Apep would produce , although not so much at the time...

The Primordial One seems to have won, because he understood how Teyvat works. The Dragons displayed a lack of understanding regarding Forbidden Knowledge, which led to their demise.

@@chrisanonym3473don't forget that PO took the dragons powers AFTER he/she defeated them, and i Personally think po is a person of pure logic and reason, and they realized that the dragons will keep respawning, so they they took away the dragons powers, to naturalize them, so they don't become an issue,

I think what Neuvilette mentioned about their powers being the sole basis for the authorities could be that the first usurper (P.O) stole the power of the 7 sovereigns and transferred it to the seven statues.
Traveller’s Hydro Kit and Neuvillette kit were identical to each other, so it kind of makes sense that the traveller’s geo kit is also identical to Azhdaha (but it’s pretty unclear)

As for Seelies being A type of Dragon, or let me generalize and say a type of Light realm / Elemental being, this seems unlikely to me. Elemental beings are associated with one element and it seems that Seelies are usually not. There's no "neutral" or "all" or "primal" elemental beings as yet. Also their personalities are directly the opposite. Dragons and Vishaps low-key hate humans and Seelies low-key adore humans. This affection continues even after they're thrown out of heaven. Also I still think Drunkard's tale implies Seelies arrived with the PO on the Ark and originally fled some "primordial" human origin world where humans had god-like powers (like the Seelies) and then fell into ruin (like the Seelies). Thus why the song the Seelies wrote to commemorate the fall of humanity is an ironic fit for their own fate. There's no mention in the origin myths of Teyvat about Seelies being created. Also Enka researchers note the difficulty of merging the native species biology with the human realm. So creating Seelies from dragons seems like it would be hard.
Hey, you have a space Ark -- gotta have crew for the space Ark, right?

    My theory.
Neuvillette will get the gnosis and get full power, then he will stop the prophecy.
Furina will abdicate of being the archon, and she will get a vision somehow like Wanderer, or Neuvillette will grant her a vision.
    .

Do not worry we will never get everything right in our theories but it is always tons of fun to share the thoughts with others.
I wanted to share some observations i made but people in the comments were very quick to mention most of it:
    1. Traveler's Abilities (mostly his Elemental Skill) closely resemble Neuvilette's Kit
    2. Also we kept meeting spirits/lifeforms in Sumeru that use or are even created by "music"
Still i would like to add some details to them since by the time writing i haven't seen them mentioned anywhere.
Traveler not only uses a similiar attack like Neuvilette, he actually spawns the exact same "Sourcewater Droplets" which he can then pick up to heal himself.
Also you can use them to charge Neuvilette's attack and vice versa. Furthermore the basic Abilities Traveler uses underwater are due to clusters of "Transoceanic Sourcewater" as the gameplay tutorial states.
Regarding the second topic, the hymn we learn to use the Varuna Contraption during the Aranara world quest is called "Rhythm of the Source Water". This may very well be inaccurate due to translation but i decide to roll with it for now. When our sibling helped the Aranara probably during the cataclysm they healed the Varuna Contaption.
This really makes me want to read into the Aranara and Pari quests again but my brain can not handle that much text right now but i really think there is a deeper coonection.
Once again thank you for your awesome videos. I don't really post anywhere but i like leaving my two cents here in the comment section.

You're spot on! Also, not only the Source Water, but there's also a mention of the Sourcesong near the end of Aranyaka, which reminds me of this symphony/fate/Fortuna thing! And I did see a comment somewhere that even though we don't have an electro dragon, maybe Electro MC may be more like electro Azhdaha than Raiden....
And thank you so much! I think I'm relatively quick with videos because I'm less concerned about being correct and making everything fit, and just like to talk about the various references and connections etc. (And I like trying to be funny with my jokes and subtitles... ahaha.) So I appreciate those who appreciate that! 😊

Didn't the whale already show up briefly? I thought that's what pushed Freminet back from the waters when he was diving, because Clorinde said she found him surprisingly close to the entrance so he must have turned back early, but we saw he didn't turn back until he fully came to a dead end and felt the primordial water.
