John Carpenter is a very rare breed. A great filmmaker AND music producer who did his own music soundtracks. Wow. Just freakin' wow. No? Quick, name another. Class dismissed.
I've been a fan of synthwave type music for years now, but everyone mixes up the terms synthwave, chillwave, retrowave, and all that so its hard to find true synthwave or even define it at this point because no one really knows what they are doing in this genre of music. But this is it, this is what I've been looking for, it's perfect, no crappy vocals, no mislabeled chillwave music, just solid synth. You're doing great.
I'm not the biggest lover of all of these subdivisions of music. I mainly stick to the broader terms (or I get a little lost), but track 2 sound like it has a sizable dollop of EBM/EDM !
I am blown away by this music, it's impressive there are many who can still compose 80's style horror synthewave, takes me to all the 80's horror flicts I watched.
Back when Horror protagonists had to be mildly competent to avoid easily dodged tropes. These days the horror turns into pulp comedy as soon as people break it down to analyze the mistakes in the writing!
This takes me back...I remember being in art class, my senior year of high school. A friend was telling everyone about the new horror movie he had just seen. A few girls had also seen it over the week end. They were laughing at how scary it was. Especially at how the girls in the film did exactly the wrong things... like dress in skimpy nighties and their underwear and THEN decide to go out into the back yard - late at night - to see what that weird sound was. HA! Everyone else who had not yet seen HALLOWEEN went to see it. That movie was a cultural event for every teenager that October. Yeah, that movie came out right on that year's halloween. Amazing experience. Halloween, 1978, when horror movies changed forever ~ THANK YOU White Bat Audio for posting this! ~ Great Fun, indeed!
As someone who grew up in the 80's and loved watching Carpenter's films, this sounds so much like him I thought it was something Carpenter put together, this is awesome.
No joke, Carpenter's scores are what got me loving synth back in the 80's and 90s, and led to my eventual fall into liking techno lol. Love this video, keep it up!
Me too, although I just thought of it as that cool movie music as a kid. I've no doubt it's why I love techno now. A few years ago I showed my wife Escape from New York for the first time, and she was waiting through the long intro and final asked why I don't just fast-forward it. I was shocked that anyone would want to -lol.
It was Manheim Steamroller's Christmas In The Aire for me, lol. That somehow lead straight into Suicide Commando and Psyclon 9 and John Carpenter thanks to the ineffable mysteries of the youtube recommendation algorithms. How you go from the world's most upbeat christmas music straight into EBM about Hellraiser I still have no fking idea.
Each track resonates like a scene from an authentic John Carpenter movie. The atmospheric and haunting melodies evoke a cinematic experience, transporting listeners into an otherworldly narrative. The sheer resemblance to Carpenter's iconic style is not just impressive but also a testament to the evocative power of this music. It's an adoration born from the familiar and nostalgic, a sonic journey akin to stepping into the captivating world of a classic film.

@@Bambuzzsprosse Well, with an all spellcaster-group (mystic theurge, druid, elditch knight, ranger), my boyz spend most of their time scouting and planning each encounter minutely (and crafting, and managing their stronghold), so the actual combat is mostly resolving if their plans come together (which they don't as often as the PCs would like).
