This was one of your best videos, Valentina. The way you categorized the trends was brilliant. The fashion trend videos that I have watched recently presented mostly the outrageous styles that are shown on the runways. I view myself as a cross between "Normcore" and "Old Money." At the age of 66 I have given myself permission to embrace the "Sensual Minimal" aesthetic. Loafers are one of my favorite shoe styles to wear with trousers and pleated linen Bermuda shorts. At my age, I have to be practical with my shoe choices. I don't have any pink in my wardrobe, but I purchased a pink tee from the GAP so that I can be part of the Barbie phenomenon. Your daughter is beautiful and your dog is adorable. Thanks for sharing.
You are absolutely wonderful and such a joy to watch. Your always laughing and happy along with interesting content. Look forward to your videos! Have a nice day!!
Valentina, I appreciate you taking the time to find other clothing companies as an alternative. Not many of us have the luxury to buy designer. This is why I LOVE LoVE your UA-cam videos. You are an 😇.
I’ve found that Quince has nice clothing at great prices. Linen and cashmere blends, Italian leather…I believe they’re a sustainable company, too? I have several sweaters from them and I love them!
You are like a fresh breeze blowing into a stuffy room, so welcome! I love your energy and enthusiasm! Reinventing one's self at 65 is challenging, but each day, I find something positive, that propells me in the direction I want to go in. And today that was finding you! Now your video's will be incorporated into my early Saturday routine. Aloha
Hi I was wondering if you can share info of your gold tone watch on this video, I’m not a gold tone person anymore but it looks good and looks very thin watch 😊which I like, thank you!!!
Pink looks good on absolutely every person that’s why Barbiecore is a thing … HOWEVER… not every trend is for every person … you can always incorporate one small pink accessory to feel like you are working it
Lol i watched the beginning...anyone ever watched funny face with audrey hepburn!? Lol. Think pink! (Hey- "why aren't you wearing pink?" "Me? I wouldn't be caught dead.") 😂
Great visual teaching tool for trends that are HOT and what makes them tick at their core. I see a lot here that I like that won't be a trend for me but an aesthetic that I want to curate in my wardrobe moving forward. Many are timeless and so very chic! You look great Valentina and your daughter is glowing!
This is a wonderful video. 😀 Barbiecore is fabulous, just like the movie. You can find the right pieces without being too cheesey. I recently found a houndstooth pink and white classic cut jacket, which l know l will have for a long time. The other styles really do blend a lot in with each other. The sensual style is very similar to old money, really. It's a little more an evening look of the old money style. And the Normcore is a little more of a relaxed version of old money. I can't say l have jumped on the trend of sneakers with trousers, unless l was using public transport to travel on my work (which l don't do as l drive to work. ) This is one of your best videos, Valentina. Thank you. 😀
I love all the Barbie core but never gravitated towards wearing any pink except for a few light pink tops (2). I did dress up for the movie though. I was crazy about Barbie in my pre teen years. I’m more interested in classic clothes with a touch of trendy pieces. I dress in neutral colors the most- white, off white, beige and light blues. I’m on the hunt for pleated trousers in material that flows well like silk in white and cream.
I also have refined taste, and since the '80"s and late 90's I started getting JCrew, banana republic and the Gap. These brands are still having a awesome quality, that fabrics las decades, when of course you handmade tour too pieces to a long last, and it works👍😁
Barbiecore is so fun! Gather friends or family and dress up for the film! Make it a girl’s night out! Choose a Barbie as your inspo, go classic or fun, or wear some merch, choose jewelry, a really fun purse or some amazing shoes! Barbiecore is so freeing!
Valentina I need advice for a day wedding at outdoors venue in April….I’m lost …please help…oh and I’m 60, not so fit , not tall 😂..also you can include in the video( I already imagined a video) how a mother of the bride/groom can assist to this wedding…I hate all those “grandma” dresses we find online
Classic styles are always in fashion. I hate the sheer, no bra dresses. I think it is because I am 64, I am tired of seeing the no pants looks. Just let it stop. Fashion should be fun, just add little bit of pink.
I love pinks, love the movie, but not so much Barbie Core at least not on me….. maybe just a splash could work for me. Very cute on some people! Normcore …I like that!
The Barbie trend is baffling to me 😂. Somebody else here mentioned they see it as a comedic phenomenon. That’s how I feel. The “Old Money Style” is a bit redundant now. I don’t think most people really understand it. Most people who have a heritage of old money do not dress in overtly brand name items. Quite frankly, they are more likely to wear things that have very little branding. At the most a classic Barbour jacket, a Burberry trench and Hunter rain boots. Although Ralph Lauren has beautiful clothes, especially the Black Label, people with wealth would not be likely to wear a blazer with a crest on the breast pocket or an oversized polo logo on the shirt. I’m all for interesting trends but I also like it when there’s some personality and individualism reflected in the way you dress. My least favorite style is the in your face, huge brand name logo dressing. It’s not impressive to me at all. Great video as always Valentina 👍
If you like Old Money style, but can't afford Ralph Lauren, try Chaps, which is one of their brands. (Warning, their cotton knits shrink a lot, so size up.)
Oh yessss I really liked the sensual style I really like pink so I'm happy with the trend, but I'll never wear a full pink look hauahaua but.... you can do it with the nails or lipstick or earrings, touches like that And I kinda like the old money style but more like french girl style
I like some muted and baby shades of pink that are a nice neutral when you want to add a little color. Just like baby or french blue work. That can be classically worn. Sorry Barbie core looks too much like wearing a costume.
Love ❤️ love ❤️ love ❤️ your spirit and love your channel as well thank you and love your style very well put together less is more just love the way you talk take care
I’m definitely Not on the Barbie Trend, I have no interest in seeing the movie Lol 😂, I do like a little Pink in my summer wardrobe but to wear a complete outfit in Pink, it’s not for Me, maybe for a child, I don’t actually get the whole Barbie Thing anyway, I prefer pieces of clothing that I can mix and match all throughout the year…Great video as always V and it was lovely to see Hayley come into your video. 🖤🖤🖤🤎🤎🤎🤍🤍🤍🩶🩶🩶🐶🐾
I don’t think u need practical shoes with normcore. I have upgraded my sneakers but I still prefer nice shoes. I think I identify with old money style……classic clothes and neutral colors
I find it hysterical that adults are morphing a childish phenomenon into a full-on adult micro-trend and we now have a whole movement around it! It is SOOO not my thing, and to be quite honest I was super judgmental at first, but now I am looking at it from a comedic standpoint and it's fun to watch people go nuts. it will fade & The industry will create some other fad to get wild about...
Norm core just reminds me of the 1920s -1930s dress-like-a-man style but just slouchier. Pretty much Not a good look on anyone except models in a fashion shoot. Or someone with that height and body type. Anyone shorter looks like they are playing dress up with their dad’s clothes. 😂
A teenager or younger...sure. But why would a grown woman be excited about a trend, much less one about a childhood-themed product like Barbie?? That's just odd and honestly, somewhat creepy. Normcore should probably be named "Borecore". Boring. Old Money is classic Ralph Lauren (hahaha - you just mentioned Ralph Lauren as I was typing!!😂) or what the "Preppie" style was. And the Sensual style is what I've always strived for. Balance and quality, over trendy, young, and flashy.
You must and should be so proud of how you made this channel grow so fast!!! I am a true fan and supporter of House of Valentina, as are my two boys. When we moved, we asked ourselves..."Hiw would Valentina do this?" Hahahaha...I kidd you not!!! 😂 We love you and your family! Your style on both channels intersect with each other seamlessly! Whoa! I am a real woman with a real budget. This channel popped up . . . Yikes! I have NOT heard of Barbiecore . . . Thankfully. I do real clothes for real women.
I enjoy your home decorating channel so I decided to give this video a try. This video was utterly offensive and tone-deaf. First off, the Barbie trend was mind blowing. Grown women infatuated by dressing like a plastic, inanimate object that was originally based on a German sex doll for which Mattel was sued and settled out of court. They later bought the German company’s copyright and patent rights in 1964. Then Barbie stumbled with racial issues. Introducing a Black Barbie in collaboration with Oreo (Nabisco) called, Barbie Oreo School Time Fun. That was so offensive and derogatory towards Black people, they pulled it from the shelves. Then Barbie misstepped again with Teen Talk Barbie by saying, “Math class is so tough!” They pulled the phrase because it implied girls were not good at STEM. Barbie also caught flack for her impossible body measurements and her “Don’t eat,” recommendation with the Barbie Babysits doll and book, How to Lose Weight. Then you follow up with “Old Money.” That is a racist, elitist social class philosophy about generational wealth and people who can trace their roots back to the Mayflower. Generational wealth has historically benefited White entrepreneurs and Blacks and other poor American workers continue to pay a price due to this inequality. Please do better next time, Valentina. This video was truly insensitive, if you look beyond the shallow cover of fashion trends.
Have you seen the Barbie movie? That is what the Barbiecore fashion movement is about. The movie turns all of the old Barbie issues you mentioned on their head, and becomes a movie that empowers women and girls of all shapes, sizes, and colors. As for old money fashion style, it could definitely have a better name. But Valentina didn't name the style, and she never claimed to support anything else other than the clothing style, Not the negative behaviors behind it.
@@bernadineeileen5375 I am a grown woman and have no interest in seeing a Barbie movie. As for Barbiecore fashion, I think grown women walking around dressing like Barbie is the opposite of empowering. No, Valentina didn't name the clothing style, Old Money, but supporting the style supports the negative behaviors and what it connotes. Words carry weight and have impact on people. We should be conscious of how we use them and choose them wisely.
@@VioletBotanicalSkincareLLC so, you're condemning a fashion style that's based off of a movie you didn't even see? If you just don't understand Barbiecore fashion, that's cool (it isn't my cup of tea, either.) But it's pretty odd to go off on a fashion style (and on Valentina) when you don't even understand what the style is based off of. The world has too much negativity in it to not let other "grown" women dress as they wish without negativity. Supporting a fashion style doesn't support negative behaviors. If that was true, people wouldn't be able to wear virtually any style that exists. Negative behaviors exist because of human beings doing bad things. That also insinuates that Anyone who would be born into a wealthy family would automatically be part of the problem....
@@bernadineeileen5375 If you look at the research by developmental psychologists regarding Barbie and young girls, they concluded that the girls reported lower body esteem and thin-ideal internalization. Even with a larger-figured doll or curvy Barbie, they tended to be ascribed more negative characteristics. So no, I'm not trying to be negative or tell grown women how to dress. It's about peeling back the marketing smoke & mirrors and taking a good look at what's truly happening to young girls. Old Money fashion is based on a racist, classist, and elitist philosophy. Don't get a bee in your bonnet when I voice my opinion about its origin and offensiveness to certain groups of people. Research how generational wealth was made in America. It's not a pretty picture.
@VioletBotanicalSkincareLLC again, you're comparing a doll to the movie (which was made to knock down the negative problems with the doll, and to empower women and girls.) They're apples and oranges, and the fashion trend is based on the movie. There's no "bee in my bonnet." I'm just saying that you don't seem to be able to separate a terribly named fashion trend (Old Money) with a negative stereotype. . Barbie is an American fashion trend and you will never see it in Europe even on young girls.
I've seen pictures of quite a few girls at the movies in other countries wearing Barbiecore.

It definitely is, but it's the name of the fashion trend.
Absolutely NO, on the Barbie.
