Hi, I was watching your video again. I miss seeing your work. I finally had a chance to fly Ahsoka last weekend. It was lots of fun with Sabine's Masterpiece plus a Recon Specialist. Since Ahsoka's card reads "choose a friendly ship" and not "choose another friendly ship" - ships being friendly to themselves - she effectively gets two actions, so giving her focus and evade (+ Stealth Device) made it difficult for any hit to stick. [e.g. take a focus action and get two focus because of Recon Specialist and then at the start of combat either barrel roll or take an evade - both options came in handy to keep Ahsoka alive.]
I agree COMPLETELY in regards to the Condition Cards. It's adding another level that I believe just simply isn't needed. The best thing about this game is it's simplicity. You can get non-gamers to play this very easily and that's it's main appeal and why this game is growing as it is. Condition Cards = NOT NEEDED
Sadly, X-Wing is already in a state where it can be extremely intimidating for new players to try to enter the competitive side of the game. That's the nature of these games, though. Don't constantly add new mechanics and you'll lose your hardcore base because the game is stagnant, but every new thing added is another barrier to easy entry for new players.
High five from a fellow Ahsoka fan. Her and Rex are why I've been so excited for this expansion, and I too hope that she gets a crew upgrade someday. Thematically, making them pilots doesn't make any sense. Ahsoka was brought into Rebels shortly after this TIE's last appearance, and Rex wasn't introduced until the following season.
I'm still holding out hope for an Ahsoka crew upgrade. As one of the most powerful force-users alive during the timeline of Star Wars Rebels, she could be a Darth Vader or Emperor Palpatine type of card. Unless, of course, FFG ever come to their senses and give us an Obi-Wan Kenobi crew
OK, I have to go back to my local gaming store and pick this up. I just got the Upsilon Shuttle and Quadjumper and held off on this. The crew and illicit upgrades will make this ship insane. I love the paint job and I'm a big fan of rebels, I love flying the ghost as well. Great review.
Almost bought this expansion but bought a striker instead. Im a HUGE fan of that ship now. The rebel tie is a cool low cost support thats hard to kill with asohka and jan ors flying next to bigs and some b wings (or any other rebel small ship) is really solid, but the striker is so damn unpredictable and squirrelly.
Its nice to see effort being put into little designs like this that could have been so easily boring. Unfortunately that has not stopped the scene for x wing dying due to a certain faction and their jankmasters and fenns. (Little side note: after watching the episode of rebels with the protectorates in them I can't really buy him being a pilot skill of nine)
As far as I know it's not possible to have more than one title on the same ship. This means you can't do the 'infiltrate the enemy squad and Ionize them' tactic, as infiltrating requires the 'Captured TIE' title while being able to use Illicit upgrades means you need the 'Sabine's Masterpiece' title. Also, did I miss an upgrade card in the video? Because I'm not really sure where from you get the info that it can carry bombs. Please tell me if it's possible to use more than one title on the same ship. Because if so, I have some TIE Defenders I wanna bring out again... Other than that, nice review! I'm looking forward to getting my hands on this ship and especially Captain Rex, being a fan of the TLT Y-Wing.
If four ships qualifies as a swarm, then yes you can! Even better, if you buy two copies of this expansion and have at least two Imperial TIE Fighters (and really, who doesn't?) you'll be able to fly all four pilots together. I'm not really sure if that's a good idea, but it would be funny.
The Cardboard Dungeon, I like the idea and do have plenty of ties and a couple of custom repaints would be fun to do as well And a massive thanks for all the cool videos
The Cardboard Dungeon I just posted my first videos. nothing special, just my xwing collection, no editing, taken with a phone cam. I'm thinking about doing a few build videos, and my wife said months ago I should do unboxing vids for xwing( probably because of all the xwing stuff I unboxed ).
The Cardboard Dungeon I'd had a few online friends ask about my xwing stuff it seemed like a better idea to just post it and send them all to one place rather than send videos to people as they ask.
The Cardboard Dungeon thanks again for checking my videos out. It means something to me that someone who put out such high quality content stopped by my channel.
Ashoka's ability need not be a support ability. She can use it on herself and allowing to reposition yourself in the start of the combat phase is very useful.
Yeah I am jumping around quite a bit. They're in the pipeline but they're both larger expansions and take a lot more time to do and I sadly don't have a lot of free time these days.
Ahsoka Tano, plus Captured Tie mod, Sabines Masterpiece, Sabine the crew, Scaveger Crane, and add a bomb. Lol! Could be fun if there aren't any aces around.
The Cardboard Dungeon Captured Tie and Vet Instincts Ahsoka is probably enough, for a support ship. She can fly around and grant actions and hopefully avoid damage from mid level pilot skill ships.
Yeah I'm thinking of running her with Kanaan and Recon Spec/Jan Ors for a super tanky Ghost that can get Focus and evade tokens and maybe use Ahsoka's support for Boosts via Engine Upgrade to position arcs as needed.
Not really. Where I play it's usually a casual group who likes to try out different lists, and whenever they do an OP prize tournament a bunch of guys come out of the woodwork with the meta netlist of the week. Generally it's been Palp Aces and Dengaroo lately with those guys.
^ ^ I just picked up both core sets and every Imperial model (sans big ships) in deuces or more. Been a SW fan since '77, and just didn't realize this was 'out there'... Bud got me into it finally - and these videos sold me. I see this growing year after year if they keep models coming from the movies - but don't make so many new 'conditions' in the game (lol).
As written the Captured TIE card is broken. So long as your pilot skill is higher NO ONE can attack you. Note the emphasis, no one. It's implied, or you are suppose 'to know' that it only means Imperial, but there are Rules Lawyers out there that will push this down your throat until a FAQ clarification comes out.
Nah, I don't think anyone is going to try to make a case that it would only work against Imperial pilots. This is a game that allows for vs. Rebel matches which thematically doesn't make a whole lot of sense already.
It's not true that no one can attack you - it's open season on a Captured TIE if it's the last ship alive. Which means that you'll need to fly a squadron with a ship costing minimum 14 points (Zeb + Captured TIE) that never attacks. It puts you at a disadvantage against a fully offense-capable 100 point enemy squadron, so there is a drawback.
An EMP ion "grenade" ; Trick Imperial TIE's into thinking your a TIE is a cool game design idea the way you describe it except "you painted your stolen TIE with here I am try to shoot me red baron type loud colors" lol make sense to not have Rebel TIE swarms with stolen TIE's by making a 13 cost ship card a unique pilot so you cant field more than one of that name. whats amazing after all these years I don't think two pilot skills are exactly the same. funny the special forces TIE doesn't have crew for it's turret gun but this does(?) interesting insights as always. Gives me something to comment on MTFBWY
Yep, conditions slowing the game down even more. Board game in the evening generally last 2-3 hours tops before people need sleep or have things to do. Was hoping Xwing would normalise in time played not slow down further. Time out games are less satisfying than games played to clear victory/advantage.
I'm less concerned with the actual time they'll add to the game, which I think will be minuscule, than the need to now keep track of even more unique tokens and cards. Each condition is a unique card/token in your collection.
Yeah sorry about the dog barking there at the end. My wife came home and her new puppy was excited to see her I guess. Still not used to having a random noise generator in the house that I can't control while recording audio.
The only somewhat acceptable explanation I can think of is that the Imperials don't do a lot of visual scanning of enemy ships; they rely on their monitors. This is why the Ghost is called the Ghost - it has some really powerful technology that lets it basically vanish from Imperial sensors even though it doesn't cloak at all - if they look out of a viewport they would see it plain as day, and the Ghost is a whale compared to a TIE Fighter. Knowing this, the rebels didn't care if the Imperials picked up the TIE on their scanners because it would register as one of theirs, and in the show, nobody suspected a thing until some stormtroopers eyeballed it inside a hangar. Which is still pretty dumb and potentially mission-breaking for them so yeah, good job Sabine, way to let your arts and craft project almost get your friends killed. I do think it's a nice little touch - she probably never considered using it for a stealth mission and painting it was an act of rebellion.
In the show it's shown that they had no intention of using it in an infiltration mission, and basically kept it for sake's sake. Then Sabine practiced on it as a new canvas for her stuff, but then they needed it to perform an infiltration mission, which wasn't planned, they deemed it was fine to use since it would only be scanned non-visually and it only needed to reach the hanger
The Cardboard Dungeon the storm trooper did like the paint job, he even commented on it before the emp device went off which is cool that they made an upgrade card for EMP device...
What happened to this channel? I really enjoy watching these unboxing videos. Would really enjoy an unboxing of Imperial Assault stuff and Armada. Please return to us. Hello? Anybody there... ... ...
One addendum to my comment, if Scum get an illicit upgrade that for this example is called "restraining bolt" and it allows that ship to take any rebel astromech droid as a crew, then I will gladly let others gain access to illicit upgrades. Share and share alike.
Why do you find it annoying? I find it kind of fitting for ships that have a background that didn't follow the normal rebellion methods, like the YTs and this tie that wasn't meant to be kept. Scum still has the only access to salvaged astromechs so if you give them the normal ones that would be more unfair in terms of unique upgrades. RIP empire unique upgrades though...
There aren't any really super amazing ones anyway. Everyone thought that Kylo Ren's would be OP but from what I've seen in the major tournaments that have happened since wave 10 it's not really making a splash.

Great summation, Pat.

I'd love to hear your take on the Upsilon Shuttle.
Best review site out there. Thank you for that and keep up the great work!
Thank you for watching!
when are you reviewing the shadow caster?
Almost bought this expansion but bought a striker instead. Im a HUGE fan of that ship now. The rebel tie is a cool low cost support thats hard to kill with asohka and jan ors flying next to bigs and some b wings (or any other rebel small ship) is really solid, but the striker is so damn unpredictable and squirrelly.
Striker is a lot of fun, for sure!

Captured TIE is a modification, not a title. It can carry bombs via Sabine Wren crew, which is made possible by the Sabine's Masterpiece title.
Ah, thanks for the explanation. My bad, I didn't notice it was a modification and I completely forgot about Sabine Wren as a crew.
Can you do a rebel tie swarm ?
If four ships qualifies as a swarm, then yes you can! Even better, if you buy two copies of this expansion and have at least two Imperial TIE Fighters (and really, who doesn't?) you'll be able to fly all four pilots together. I'm not really sure if that's a good idea, but it would be funny.

I'm still hoping we will see new videos from this channel, it's been a while. I really enjoy the unboxing/reviews, hi quality stuff here.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoy the vids. I'm hoping to start getting more posted but it's been difficult finding the time.

No Shadowcaster or Heroes of Resistance review ?
Yeah I am jumping around quite a bit. They're in the pipeline but they're both larger expansions and take a lot more time to do and I sadly don't have a lot of free time these days.
big fan, say can you showcase one of the epic ships?
Ahsoka Tano, plus Captured Tie mod, Sabines Masterpiece, Sabine the crew, Scaveger Crane, and add a bomb. Lol! Could be fun if there aren't any aces around.
Two, only bad thing is it's a lot of points for a 3 hit point ship.
Nice! Been waiting for this!!
Does your LGS have a unique meta? I've been going to tournaments and seeing defenders, Miranda and corran, and Ketsu bossk
Not really. Where I play it's usually a casual group who likes to try out different lists, and whenever they do an OP prize tournament a bunch of guys come out of the woodwork with the meta netlist of the week. Generally it's been Palp Aces and Dengaroo lately with those guys.
waiting for the tie striker review man
still waiting for that tie striker review
Captain Rex and tlt unfortunately doesn't interact that way. "After you preform an attack" is after both shots.
Good catch, yeah I wasn't thinking clearly there I guess.
plz do another epic ship.
Damn, I wish I still had people to play this with. At least the miniatures are worth it.
Cybermat47 I have that same problem too
^ ^ I just picked up both core sets and every Imperial model (sans big ships) in deuces or more. Been a SW fan since '77, and just didn't realize this was 'out there'... I'm a little disappointed this channel hasn't uploaded anything in awhile I really enjoyed the reviews.
Sorry for the disappointment :) I'm glad you enjoy the videos, hoping to get some new ones up before long

IMHO The Rebels should have had the Lambda Shuttle before the TIE Fighter.
Not to be a faceface but what happened to the Upsilon and Quadjumper videos? :O
What's odd is Captured Tie works against Scum...I think...
It does. I like to think that the opposing ships are confused about why it's there
I think scum though would just shoot it anyway if it's not broadcasting their IFF.
Probably best not to think too far into it :)
And than there is that PS 3 pilot that drops youre PS to 0....bye bye captured tie upgrade.
Your dinner sounds undercooked in the back.
Yeah sorry about the dog barking there at the end. My wife came home and her new puppy was excited to see her I guess. Still not used to having a random noise generator in the house that I can't control while recording audio.
Good video though regardless :)
Condition cards are a bad idea this is not Magic the Gathering.
It makes the game feel like a poorly done Eldritch Horror
A new review!
>Get a TIE fighter the Rebellion can use in inflitration or to pass incognito
>Paint it with shrill yellow colours, deeming it useless
Was it autism?

Jack Jones No, I dont think so. It was more for humor
Jack Jones I use it for howlrunner, or another elite pilot.
Dude, your dog wants to go out.
Nah, he was out. My wife came home and he was excited to see her.
What happened to this channel? I really enjoy watching these unboxing videos. Would really enjoy an unboxing of Imperial Assault stuff and Armada. Please return to us. Hello? Anybody there... ... ...
Love the EMP, hate that Rebels can get Scum upgrades. Yes I know it's limited but still annoying.
