That headstock shape is a quite unappealing. Everything on that guitar screams Gibson. Why Epiphone don't finally just go with the Gibson design on the headstock is frankly annoying. Otherwise it's a very desireable guitar.
Your point is taken and understood...but in this case, it is irrelevant. Gibson DESIGNED the Les Paul. Not Epiphone right? Epiphone use their own hideously ugly head-stock to ensure the difference between the entities is known. However THIS does not make any sense in regards to the Les Paul. Why? Because Epiphone use the Gibson designed headstock on the Explorer and on the Flying V! So why not use the Gibson design on the Les Paul? Oh, wait a moment...Epiphone does use the Gibson Open-Book headstock on their Les Pauls....in Japan. But not in America and Europe. That to me is annoying.
Epiphone has really stepped up their game. Epiphone does have a few models with Gibson USA pickups. I have the Old Glory and it's awesome. I am going to get this one as well. I have the new '59 model and it is awesome too.
Excited beyond belief! Pre ordered one with yourselves just the other day! Hope Epiphone get them sent out soon, feels like I've waited a life time since I first saw it on JJN's Instagram around November time!
Has this guitar been properly fret levelled at the factory? I have heard numerous stories of customers buying Epiphone guitars with fret buzzing problems etc
The guitar is still on pre order Alan, so we don't have it in stores yet! If you keep an eye on the listing on our website, you can see when it will come in stock (should be very soon) and if there is one at the newcastle store by using the store stock indicator. If its not in newcastle, you can ring up the store and they'll arrange a transfer for you to have a look at! :D
So when did Epiphone get rid of their ugly headstocks with the clipped corners and replaced them with some more in line with Gibson's? This model looks pretty cool, I'm not typically a fan of gold but if it came in silver it would be really tempting.
@@guitarguitaruk I need to get downtown and play a few, but I’m in Los Angeles, and our covid-nightmare continues. I really want their Les Paul Jr. I’ve always wanted one, but I’m not paying $1,500 for it. Gibson needs some more reasonable production models. No player worth a shit can afford them.
I just got their 2021 SG Standard in white and it's the best I've ever seen come out of Epiphone. Pots could be a little better, but it's not hard to replace those. The fit and finish though is great. I grew up playing a 2005 G-400 in high school and it was so hard to play for a long time. Quality was all over the place. They're definitely doing much better now. The SG standard is surprisingly heavy and the body is thicker than my Gibson. While I'm not crazy about it, it does eliminate the neck dive, so it's a good trade off.
@@michaelsguitars3079 Awesome. I have an ‘08 - ‘61 Les Paul SG custom shop reissue. White. After a set-up, it plays better than any of my Gibsons. I think dad paid $600 for it in 2012 or so. I looked it up and it’s a Korean-made Epiphone. It’s beautiful
It is made in US? Wow then that price is somewhat acceptable lol. It is really great to see that Gibson is maintaining their authenticity with its standard 50s/60s while using Epiphones to expand new product lines and cool designs. Very smart move.
Pre-ordered mine today. Buzzing. Literally been looking for something like this for years.
Yahoooo! Enjoy it when it arrives Mark, it's an absolute beast!
Same! I almost custom ordered one for 3x thr price. I am having trouble pre ordering in Canada though

That makes no sense, Epiphone is not Gibson, infact Epiphone is older and that is their original headstock.

@@guitarguitaruk I hope so! The wait is killing me! 😂
nice playing. as far as review ... how bout weight, neck dimensions (nut width, and depth @ 1st and 12th frets), neck dive ??

We've had no fret buzzing issues Mark, all looks good!
That's what a setup is for.
Will you have one at the Newcastle branch I could have a look at? Post lockdown obviously..

We're always a sucker for a gold guitar!
How much? When’s it released
It's £649 man! We're waiting on an exact date from Epiphone just now, but they say it shouldn't be too long!
The gold top color is the best
Gotta love a gold top!

They changed the headstock for the Inspired by Gibson series last year after Gibson's new CEO took over in 2018 after the bankruptcy.
Epiphone is crushing it.
For sure, they're really knocking it out the park right now!
