Hey Ashleigh! Congratulations on 1000 subscribers!
I have a tip about the mod podge. You only need to use mod podge if you use colored pencil, because that's the only thing that smears. For marker, paint, and gel pens, it'll be fine in the book (in my experience.) For chalk pastel, I'd either leave it or use SPRAY sealant. Protect the rest of the book with paper and spray sparingly, as not to soak the page. This has worked for me in both CTB 1 AND CTB 2.
Thanks for the insight! I guess I just assumed it was good practice to seal everything for longevity. I have to do mod podge with my markers (for whatever reason any color with a yellow undertone will transfer yellow spots onto the neighboring pages if not sealed). But I hadn't considered with paint and all that I could just skip it altogether and save myself some grief. Nothing like working hard on something and then modpodge comes and screws it all up! Hahaha.
Your menu page is so cute and all this food made me soooo hungry. That grilled cheese sounded yummy as well as the eggs Benedict. I'm a foodie so I guess that's why i like it so much.
I really liked the two pages. And now I need to eat breakfast a very blah banana for me. I used to love cream of wheat as a kid. Maple brown sugar cinnamon was my fave. Yours sounds so good.
As for smudging try a aerosol modpodge spray. It coats the paper and doesn't smear anything because your not using a brush. The smudges are actually a good mistake as it looks like someone was going to change the menu and ran a chalk eraser over it. I love that page.
PS Create this book 3 is awesome and is on my Christmas wishlist (despite not finishing the first two lol 🤣)
Hahaha. I made myself hungry while painting this. The spray is something I will have to look into. Someone else also pointed out that the smudges could be chalkboard smudges and that makes me feel so much better about it. I was supper bummed.

Thank you so much! It's honestly just lots and lots of practice. I've been drawing my whole life and it hasn't always been pretty. I will go into it a bit more in my Q&A, but honestly don't give up! The more you do, the better you get.
