If you want to be a skilled drummer, you can do it, you just have to bust your ass practicing. If you want to make something like this and be able to recreate it in concert, it requires skill and understanding of your equipment as well.

I see this music as musical textures, noisescapes. It's a way to soothe and a way to vent aggression. As a noise-artist myself it's a way to express myself and a alternative to useless violence applied to other people.
The point of this music is NOT to have any motive of understanding and clarity,it is what it is,simply Noise..Nothing else,you have gotta be having an open mind when listening to it,mere thoughts will only make it worse when listening to this.
I try to listen intently and analyze patterns that arent there. In a way this practice is a sort of inversion of classical meditation. As Merbow said: "If by noise you mean unpleasant sound-- then pop music is noise to me."

Right usage? you can dance to it, you can enjoy it, music can get you to sad, happy and other fellings. Music has rhytm that can kick you in right feeling, you can enjoy it. "It has a good beat & you can dance to it" is a good criterion for pop music for teenagers, but not for everything. There are more ideas here than in almost any album I know. He's using ideas from surrealism, psychedelic music, & avant garde electronic music, among others. There is music consisting of literally random noise, & it's awesome (Hijokaidan, Incapacitants, Haters), but this ain't that.

One could even argue that it is a contradiction to "use" or create art for any purpose, since it is only to be considered art when it does _not_ have a purpose, therefore sounds designed to be danced to or evoke an emotional response are not music. ;)
