You are right Martin. In those days the match ticket and your transport, food and drink were a little more affordable. These days you need a small fortune for a Wembley cup final. Plus apart from some great players there were loads of characters.
So many Great games and goals, "however" (even though I am an England supporter) you can SEE CLEARLY that supporters were running on the pitch (LOOK at the top of the screen) as Jeff Hurst receives the ball and scores ... as the famous commentary goes ..."Some people are running on the pitch, they think its all over ... It is now" Yet F.I.F.A. rules states when people invade the pitch, play must stop!.

We tend to forget exactly how excellent some of the football was back then... with heavier pitches, much heavier footballs etc..
Some?, all of it was more exciting than the softies of today.
