Mac Miller's Disturbing Lost Album

- In February 2020, we learned that Faces wasn’t the only project worked on during this stage of despair. In fact, there was a project before Faces.
We learned that Mac Miller worked quite heavily on another mixtape called Balloonerism.
Balloonerism explores themes that Faces didn’t touch upon. It felt like a different stage of grief, a stage of cold and dark sadness. But at the same time, it provided the introductory, experiential sound that was needed so that Faces could be released. Balloonerism paved the way for Faces. It’s a project that I would recommend to anyone who has had a liking for Mac Miller at some point in their life.

You’re so underrated bro
Eminem is a better lyricists but Macs music is better......

Balloonerism would've been an insanely good project if it was polished even further because as it stands now it's already amazing. I've managed to get a hold of the files a couple of months back because I was curious, and not all of them are my favorites but whooooh, some of em.
Absolute highlights are Manakins and Funny Paper, but the best song off of it has to be the penultimate track Tomorrow Will Never Know. It feels like he's speaking to every single broken person who listens to the track, begging the question if others would ever understand their pain with the repeating phrases of "Do they _ just like you do?". Being 12 minutes long and the lyrics take up almost half of it, so the other half is a haunting instrumental that leaves you thinking about what Mac said.
I wouldn't recommend this to everyone as it is a leak and unfinished but if you're willing to search for it it's such a worthwhile experience!
I’ve just discovered funny papers and listened to Mac since the sound cloud days. It’s a damn good song. Maybe someday we’ll get another mixtape/ album 😔
Where can one find this album?
@@williamforrest5991yeah i wanna find it too
From games to music.
From hugging to kissing.
From a boy to a man.
His life was his prime.
Ballonerism has become my favorite Mac project over the last year or so since I discovered it. I love how it really describes the highs and low of Mac life in that time just like you said in your video. Great job man.
Do you know where to listen to this album? I tried looking for it all over the place but can’t find it online
@TheSuperbatboy101 I found it in a facebook Mac group. But I think you might be able to find it on reddit somewhere sometimes but gets taken down though.
Mac is the coldest white boy ever, even better than Eminem imo. His raps actually made you think, feel and question everything.
How does Eminems music not make you feel the same tho?
@@thatblazedgamer1940 it did to a point, then dude just wasn't the same anymore after a certain time. Just like Wayne, Wayne used be a cold mf then the "prom Queen" thing happened and just like that dude sucked to me.
Can’t compare the two.
Eminem sucks@@thatblazedgamer1940
I personally always loved Funny Papers off of the album and one of my favorite verses: “Cause when the snakes start slitherin’ you spot the chameleons, You realize you surrounded by reptilians.” The song as a whole to me just touches on the subject of death and birth, bunch of casual stories, the “fakeness” we can feel surrounded by in this life and of course the asking the age old question “Why does any of this matter at all?” Mac captured it all. I personally hope Ballonerism gets a full release. Maybe after Maclib whenever that project hopefully gets dropped in 2024.
Man when I learned Mac died on a Friday it made that song a lot harder to listen to for me. I got into Mac sometime after he passed
Great documentary/presentation. Really enjoyed this summary about an album that seems almost wiped from UA-cam. Thanks for taking the time to make a high quality piece
The song, Do you have a destination, gives me the feeling of accomplishing my goals and achievements in life but still feeling lost thus asking myself repeatedly like in the song “where are you going” and “do you have a destination. It’s beautifully introspective.
The song “stoned” reminds me of a story about a woman who uses drugs/weed to escape/cope with reality. The listener (you) try to save the woman but she doesn’t trust you, closes you out (“locked in the bathroom door”). Until you bring out the music and the drugs is only when she opens up to you. She comes to you for her problems and you try to help her. But after therapy and unsuccessful treatment, the doctor says there isn’t anything wrong with her and her parents never got along with her when she was younger thus spiraling into a drug filled chaos where it’s just you and her. This hits home from personal experience. The guitar riff is so hypnotic.
Overall, I loved this album because of how dark, introspective and relatable it was. Mac was an amazing storyteller.
Hope you come back man

So if he had died around the time he made this project and Faces it would’ve came out instead of Faces? Or it would’ve came out after Faces IF he had passed away around that time?
Where can I find this?
Try giving it a search on SoundCloud! I didn’t want to link it in the description just in case lol
