I love listening to you and seeing all your beautiful makes and plans for the future. God bless you! And Yoda loves you. I think, she is a descendent of my old cat Peanut. She was just beautiful with those green eyes and blue gray coat with the white patch on her neck and belly. I miss her to do this day. StitchedbyMimi
Thanks for another great podcast Selma! I have some old primitive hooked rugs made by my mother, and have nor washed them. If they hang on a wall, I think vacuuming with a very light suction attachmentt is sufficient. If they have been walked on for many years they may need washing. Depends on the backing material also.
Yes, we got hammered last week with snow. Cape Breton got the worst of it and we are getting another snow storm this afternoon 🙄between 30-50cm in some places. Not sure where we are going to put it all. Had Spring like weather for the last 4 days so it did melt some of it. This is usually Iceuary, rain, freezing rain...at least you dont have to shovel rain🤪. That colour looks lovely on you Selma. Great episode, always enjoy your chats. Nice to see Yoda, those green eyes❤ Sharon.
It is dry here!! We haven’t had barely any precipitation of any kind this year so far. There is promise of some snow this week but just a dusting really
Thank you for another lovely episode. I noted several of your patterns to add to my long list of knitting, and also looked into the fabric shop. They have wonderful colors, and I will be purchasing some soon. It so funny that while shopping on the Saturday before the Grammy’s, I heard Luke Combs’ version of Fast Car. I actually loved it which is a lot for me because I felt this is a song that was best left as is and I don’t like country music. However, it was fantastic, and seeing the two of them perform it was awesome! I hope the next weeks are less busy and that you have more opportunities for your making. Cheers!❤
Yoda is the sweetest cat! I might have to cave on adding a cat to our household. Our cat was killed by a coyote in December and we need another sweet feline in our lives.
Well...that was footage well worth watching!! Yoda is a beautiful cat! I loved all of your makes..especially that red sweater/vest. I just love Sari Nordlund's patterns. I just finished the Poetria and it is such a perfect fit!! It was great spending some time with you today and take care!
thank you for another lovely episode!! I might have to read "the myth of normal", it sounds fascinating! I can understand your joy in finding "your perfect knitwear outfit" - I have recently discovered mine is "fancy work pants" with cropped Lento sweaters on top. Now that I know this is my perfect combination, I am having so much fun planning all the colour combinations!
Lovely song -- great vibe -- and Yoda's so pretty! Thanks as always for the inspiration. You have me hankering to make that tee-top now (Andrea's Tee). I have some navy Jo Sharp DK that needs a project...Hmmm... Stay well -- till next time!

Hello hello hello to you, and Gertie and Yoda! Had to put my knitting down to oooh and ahhh several times during the episode: that Rivendell, Giselle hat, and yay for the perfect blue Stockholm Slipover. White collared shirt and beautiful vest IS OFFICIALLY the Selma uniform. No question. Happy Knitting to you. I feel like I have so soooo many things I want to make this year too. And yet only two hands. 😊 Thank you for the inspiration and great conversation.
Selma, your episodes are always such a treat! I loved the ending with your sweet kitty being smoochy. How interesting that she has a white star on her chest. Maybe an inspiration for a pair of gray mittens or hat with a white star?!
Love the sweater you are wearing, it's getting on my list, I have the yarn just for this. Love the cosmic socs! About reading, I love reading and I find myself sometimes just falling asleep while reading as I get to tired by the time I put my needles away. I recently started to listen to audio books on loan from my library and I feel like it's a complete zen experience (combining the knitting with reading). I'd be very glad to hear more about your reading. Thank you for another beautiful episode.
Happy Sunday!! I've just had the loveliest catch up with you this morning and I just about fell out of my chair when you showed the Njord Socks. Thank you 💙💙
Selma, make sure you wash and dry (in dryer) that lovely Indian cotton before sewing with it as it will probably shrink. I lived in India and have sewn many garments with their beautiful cottons- can't wait to see what you create.
Love the Sari Nordland Sweater!! Beautiful! Also enjoyed your hunt for the perfect blue yarn. Colors really can be tricky sometimes, who knew that there are so many variations on shades right? Great catching up with you.

Ya, I havent been reading books either and am trying to get back to that... I started reading Gilead by Marilynne Robinson which is quite beautiful so far....in the past I encouraged you to read Atul Gawande's book "Being Mortal" which is an important book for all of us to read about getting older/end of life decisions and options that are important to know, I think that book will help you with the issues with your mother and also for yourself as you plan for your own old age... so I hope you do read Being Mortal soon....
I loved this episode thank you very much. Speaking of Tracy Chapman, listen to her in a duet with another of my favorite singers, Pavarotti Singing Baby; Can I Hold You Tonight, it's on UA-cam.
Yoda is so beautiful! And that perfect star on her chest! I really like the pillow cover you are making. It looks very sturdy and the colors are gorgeous.
I love blue colors, too. Your garment will be stunning! Yoda's "star" is so pretty. I don't recall seeing it before. Thank you, Yoda, the Star of the end of the podcast!
Selma, I love that color on you! I'll have to keep my eye out for something similar for myself. And you've inspired me to pull out my Ottolenghi Jerusalem cookbook. YUM!
Just as I was thinking „I would like to see some Yoda” - there she was ❤ and loving all the attention you (finally 😉) gave her 😂 Thanks, Selma, for another lovely episode. Hopefully you will find some knitting time soon.

Depending on the project, when knitting with bulky in the round to spare my hands (I knit English style) I will use the correct size needle eg 10mm in my right hand and use a 9mm or 8mm in my left hand. @@littlebigknits awesome! Maybe we should do an unofficial knit along! Then I will have time to knit the sweaters I've already planned for the next few months 😀
Hi Selma! Nice to see you, lovely episode. I am glad you found your blue. I was going to recommend going to a paint store and finding a paint swatch of your favorite blue to carry in your purse when you went to a yarn store! But it sounds like you found the ONE :)
Always lovely to catch up and see what you have on the needles! Rivendell vest will be lovely for Christmas. I also had the same reaction to seeing Tracy Chapman perform on the Grammys. And as much as I love your walks out in nature, both my cat and I loved seeing Yoda! What a love bug >^..^
Hey! Thanks for the sweet shoutout! I’m so excited you chose to make a pair of Duke City Mitts, I hope you’ll love knitting them and your friend will enjoy wearing them! I’m so glad you will come back here in September, it’ll be a good time to reconnect with friends! 🥰🙌🏻🧶
Lanitium Ex Machina is my absolute favorite for socks. I made a Finnish friend who shopped at a craft fair for me because she doesn't sell on Etsy anymore. The lengths I go to😅
Thank you. As usual, some lovely ideas and inspiration - I’ve made notes! I tested the Rhue sweater (LOVE my version and have worn it loads) and there were several of the other testers who knitted it for males. They all seemed really pleased with the results, so I endorse your recommendation. I’ll be interested to see your version when it comes.
Thank you for keeping me company while I knit. Yoda is such a beautiful cat. I recently heard that Shibui Knits will be relaunched as part of Madelinetosh. Eventually they will produce the complete line of fibres and patterns.
Aww Yoda is a cutie. You must've bought the yarn from " Cricket Cove" in Fredricton they closed at the end of December. Hopefully will see you in Moncton NB one day and you can visit our yarn shop "Three bags full "
Thanks for another fun episode. I, too, am quite taken with the Rhue Sweater by Rebecca Clow. I have the perfect yarn waiting for me from a recent trip to Austria that will be perfect. It is in the same colors that Rebecca models. My only dilemma is should I put the green on top or the cream on top? Hummmm…….it seems like quite a big decision! I have a cardigan to finish first, so I suppose I have a bit of time to consider my choice. I bought the pattern, so I may swatch the colorwork first to see if one way or the other inspires me. 🤗
So far with the Rhue I’m finding myself drawn to those that have the dark on top. I’m still looking for the yarn so it may be a while before I get to it
We also thoroughly enjoyed Lupin...which is strange, because we normally dont give dubbed programmes a chance. It's just so well done that we hardly notice it's being dubbed ❤
Nice to see Selma and I love your slip your wearing and it’s uncanny how I was going through some of my mothers old knitting. patterns and pulled slip overs and then tuned into your video and another podcast and slip overs seem to be becoming trendy this season 😊😊😊
Hah I don’t know if they are trendy but perhaps a classic!! They are definitely quite popular again though for sure! Lots of new designs. Sounds like your mother has a great collection!
Watched this morning while binding off an sleeve on my (never ending thanks to changing up gauge) Shiftigan by Andrea Mowry and just had to come back to tell you how very appreciative I am to have had this podcast episode to start my Sunday. Love that "perfect blue" and also really love your bags. I have made many bags in the past and this is inspiration to do more.
I love blues in the category known as French blue. It's a very hard color to find because so many so-called French blues have too much green in them. Nary a single French blue in my stash, still looking. One of my favorite blues is Blue Blue in Linen Quill yarn from Purl Soho. I would put it in the bright cobalt blue family. It's stunning when paired next to black or a very dark navy blue.
only 20 minutes in, and \i've already opened a new window to purchase the koyamae pattern. Thanks for introducing it to me; that's going to be a fun knit.
Drops Air pills a lot but I did not care colours are lovely especially “parrot” green you would love it. I made 2 Sofie scarfs for a friend. She just loved them her husband piped in and said that is just right for hiking, he took the gray one HA! Love your videos ❤
Thank you for your podcast it's always lovely and so delightful to watch! ❤ On the Drops Air. I know a lot of people really like it very much, so maybe it was just bad luck or maybe it's the colorway, as the dye can sometimes change the structure of the yarn. Well, but my absolutely worst pilling experience ever, I had with Drops Air. When I was still knitting the pullover it already started to pill... and it hasn't stopped since. It's very soft and cuddly though, so I wear it anyway, but only at home. Sometimes I'm thinking about trying another color (mine was color 30, it's called sage green), but couldn't work up the courage yet. Have a good time! Andrea
Thank you for another wonderful podcast. Oh your garments look so cozy and beautiful! Not sure if you heard, but Madeline Tosh has acquired Shibui and they are making a comparable silk cloud. Have not ordered any yet.
Ive just designed a "body hug" like vest with nutiden its gonna be in Norwegian and English , the Norwegian is relased march 1st ,i wonder maybe wanna test or read trough the english versjon? One tester i had knit IT in two days, so its a very fun projects. I Will send my e-mail in raverly IT would be so great, AS i see you love the nutiden. Dont have to usenthat but thats what i used.🤗🙏😍 You have so much inspiration 🤗 thank you 😍🤗
I like Drops Air, it's really really soft and nice to knit with, but unfortunately it doesn't hold up all that well over time. I made a raglan sweater with some celtic cables that I really love with Drops Air, and I wear it a lot, and I have to say that under the arms and at the side of the chest where there's a bit more friction, it pills a lot and this way all the fibers get pulled from the net tube they are in :(
Nice podcast Selma! Love all your projects. I have a question- what yarn did you use for your Dreyma pull over sweater? It’s is so beautiful. I’m working on one now. Not really satisfied with my yarn choice. Thank you.
@@littlebigknits Dream in color City- colorway -Joshua tree(MC) and Tumbleweed (CC). It’s a little heavy maybe I should have gone up a needle size. 😊 Thanks for getting back with me so quickly. I can’t wear lopi. I made an Icelandic sweater (wool I directly ordered from Iceland) and on my trip to Iceland I took it and wore it. I felt better with it on over there than here in NY. The trip was very cold and the sweater felt ok. Lopi itches me even with layers under it.😟

On the Drops Air.
Andrea
Thanks!! I’m sorry to hear of your experience but unfortunately you are not the only one
Thank you for another wonderful podcast. Oh your garments look so cozy and beautiful! Not sure if you heard, but Madeline Tosh has acquired Shibui and they are making a comparable silk cloud. Have not ordered any yet.
I'll check it out!
Rethink that blue from knitting for olive looks good next to you.
Might not be as bright so swatch it and see
Bit knitting for olive is very nice,,..
Dont have to usenthat but thats what i used.🤗🙏😍 You have so much inspiration 🤗 thank you 😍🤗
I just learned that shibui was bought by Madeleine Tosh and their silk mohair is the shibui silk mohair.😊
Purl Soho's Tussock is another excellent option, also produced in Japan on a similar base. So many colors.
I like Drops Air, it's really really soft and nice to knit with, but unfortunately it doesn't hold up all that well over time. I made a raglan sweater with some celtic cables that I really love with Drops Air, and I wear it a lot, and I have to say that under the arms and at the side of the chest where there's a bit more friction, it pills a lot and this way all the fibers get pulled from the net tube they are in :(
Thanks for sharing!
What is a February challenge? That sounds cool.
It’s a personal challenge to do monthly challenges for myself rather than yearly ones.
Hi Selma, I will be in Fredericton in June, too. Where did you get your yarn from there? Thank you. Juliane
Cricket cove but apparently it has closed …
Nice podcast Selma! Love all your projects. I have a question- what yarn did you use for your Dreyma pull over sweater? It’s is so beautiful. I’m working on one now. Not really satisfied with my yarn choice. Thank you.
I used lopi for it. As a result it’s not one I wear quite as much as it’s a very warm sweater but I do love it! What did you use?
@@littlebigknits Dream in color City- colorway -Joshua tree(MC) and Tumbleweed (CC). It’s a little heavy maybe I should have gone up a needle size. 😊 Thanks for getting back with me so quickly. I can’t wear lopi. I made an Icelandic sweater (wool I directly ordered from Iceland) and on my trip to Iceland I took it and wore it. I felt better with it on over there than here in NY. The trip was very cold and the sweater felt ok. Lopi itches me even with layers under it.😟
👍🏻😁💕
