I’m laughing to myself, every time you cut and come back, imagining you screaming at your family that you’re podcasting. I appreciate that you can keep going!
Aww dear Selma, I was ever so flattered to see my yarn in your top summer knits! Thank you so very much for the mention! 😊I gives me so much pleasure to hear you have enjoyed the yarn so much!❤❤❤
Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing my Talulah Tee, dear Selma! ❤❤❤ It means a lot to me and I am very grateful! Thanks for another lovely episode!
This episode was jam packed with beautiful summer knitting! Would you believe I have attempted to knit myself a pullover but it’s still a wip. So through a Vogue pattern book for beginners I have started a basic garter stitch cardigan. It’s being made with super bulky yarn in green and red stripes. Hah! I’d say it’s a Christmas cardigan being knit in July. I hope to get it off the needles and maybe I can attempt a summer top. Thank you for the valuable information you share. I appreciate you. ❤ StitchedbyMimi
Oh so many beautiful patterns and yarns. I'm excited to see what you'll choose! It's lovely that your wrist is healing so that you can indulge your hobby without pain. I enjoy cotton in a small diameter and make a lot of facecloths in pure white so that I can bleach them - It's a great way to try new stitches and sometimes that's all I can manage to finish. Happy Monday.
I learn so much from your podcasts, in particular I really enjoy your descriptions of working with different yarns. Your experience and insights are so valuable. Thank you! Also, I really appreciated your no fuss approach to respecting people's chosen pronouns. It's a little thing that makes a huge difference and I greatly respect you for making the effort.
Wld love your recipe for the summer top. Am just starting to think of how to use quite a bit of stash summer yarns! Your tops are both lovely, even the white. You might try a light bleach to brighten it as both cotton and linen will take the bleach. Worth the try rather than discarding.
I enjoyed your recap of past tees and newly favorited patterns. I made a Vellichor 2 years ago out of koigu wool and spincycle dyed in the wool. In wool it creates a warm and cushy fabric. Since it’s wool, I wear it as a vest or Slipover, but it would make a wonderful tee in a lighter weight fiber. It’s a very easy pattern, but it took a bit longer to knit than I had expected. I’m currently knitting Wild Flowers by Tif Neilan in a fingering wt merino/cotton blend. It has flown off my needles. I’m almost down to the bottom ribbing and I’ve loved every moment of knitting this pattern. I’d make it again! The pattern is very clearly written and I enjoyed the interesting shoulder design which added to the fun. I highly recommend both patterns.
Thanks, Selma for sharing your summer plans..they are all great and I was particularly drawn to the Agave..looks like a fun knit. I love the color of your Corran cardigan...looks so great on you. Happy Spring to you and thanks for sharing!
Hi Selma, you shared your skirt recipe and I love it and made 2 skirts for my sister. You mentioned that you would be willing to write up a top recipe. I encourage you ….please!!!i would be happy to rest knit if needed. Karen from Gaithersburg, md. I really enjoy you podcast and happy to know that you are friends with….knitting stew and knitting your way back home…..my fav three
I would love the "recipe" for tee knitting. I am starting a "Tolsta Tee" class on Monday. That will be my first summer cast on. I also have the "Corran Cardigan" in my line up for this summer. Love your tees! 😁🧶❤
I too would love to have the "recipe" for those summer knits. They fit so well and the drape is beautiful. I do really appreciate your podcasts because of their focus on knitting and your obvious love for your craft. I feel the same way. You are good company to be in.
Thanks for an enjoyable episode,Selma🙏Always interesting to look back at what we gravitate towards of our own knits and learn what works and doesn't work.I am being more mindful of my personal makes and genuine needs..trying not to get up in all the pretty designs that seem to come out daily. You are a wealth of knowledge.Hope you have a lovely day and week.♥️👋🐨🌏xx
Hi Selma I am smitten with the Peacock tee, I knitted one last summer and NEED a hot pink one this year. I also need the Joni top by N. Hornby and the rota as well Good luck with your summer knits
If you didn't want to wash your katia concept top asks any other plant fibre garment as much Selma, you could always spray with water and put it in the dryer for a few minutes at a time. I find if you watch it closely, the garment springs back into shape quickly without shrinking.
Hi Selma, great catch up. Lots of inspo!! I too am knitting summer and winter items in tandem. Seems like we only have 2 seasons here in Alberta now - summer and winter 😂. Look forward to seeing you next time and very curious to hear what happened with the Nutiden 🤔 Bye for now 👋🏼
Thanks for all the summer knits inspiration Selma 🤗 I often find myself knitting all types of pieces (e.g. winter, fall, spring & summer projects) all year round. Although, on the really hot and humid days of summer, I definitely gravitate towards knitting with plant fibres. Can't wait to see which tops you end up making! 💕
Hola Selma! I would love for you to write down your 'recipe' for sweater/tops. You are so good at your craft & as a newbie that would help me greatly. Gracias!❤
Love the Nila sweater, thanks for sharing I noticed that Natasja Hornby is offering 50% off all her patterns for one day - April 21, 2024 Amsterdam time
Thank you for taking the time to insert the design photos. I love making note of them! Do you ever use bamboo or wooden needles for slippery yarns? I find it helps me to have a bit of friction if the yarn has silk or similarly slippery fibers. Happy knitting!
I also made the Ankers tee last summer and love it, but I saw a tip on IG and am so glad I took it - i turned the yoke inside out before splitting for the sleeves. I just like the pattern so much better, try it!
Hello, Selma. Love, love your podcasts. Thank you. I would love for you to share your "recipe" for knitting tops. The Acker tops are on my "to do list" , but would like your suggestions on how to add back neck height using German Short Rows.
Thank you for a great episode to inspire our summer knitting. I love a lot of your summer knits, especially the Daring, Jana 2, Talulah and Nila tops. I made the Rota Sleeveless Top and absolutely love it! I made it with Sandnes Garn Line. There is a sweater version that I am interested in making too. Have a great few weeks, and I can’t wait to see what your summer knit will be. Cheers!
I gain so much knowledge from your podcasts! I am currently working through all your podcastd starting at number one. I have many notes, and I am up to Episode 41. Thanks for sharing your love of the crafts!
Thank you so much for sharing summer knit ideas. Living in Ecuador I don't have too much need for full on wooly sweaters but spring /summer tops are always appreciated.. Have a great day
Que de beaux pulls dans une même vidéo! J'aime tout ce que vous faite ainsi que vos choix de fibres naturelles mélangées et l'association de vos couleurs ,je retiendrai vos conseils . Bravo prenez soin de vous.😊
Selma, have you seen that Rebecca is planning to release a summer Tolsta? I am waiting for that pattern as there are a couple of versions that I can see knitting for summer and layering pcs for Spring and Fall. I really like the Peacock tee that you showed so may be adding that to my plans.
Thank you so much for a lovely episode full of inspiration! I have 3 projects lined up for summer but if I complete only 1 it will be a win! A bit off topic but we have not seen Yoda footage in a looong time and I am having withdrawls!
Last summer I knitted the Suri Shirt by Caidree using the Tussah Silk. It turned out beautiful, I love it. It was actually the recommended yarn for the pattern 😊
I'm on the same page as you with the vellichor! I had swatched once but didn't cast on. Material for a KAL, perhaps? For motivation purposes? I have a bunch of Holst garn coast I was thinking of using for that one. ETA: I'm in Nova Scotia and I know what you mean, we have an even shorter summer here. But it's so beautiful!
@@littlebigknits not yet, I got one which is some wild summery fiber blend, quite light, where I made up the pattern with a racerback and a front draped neck. Haha, after watching I pulled all my old summer shirts out.. I got a few that are short sleeved and made with a cotton viscose blend, that icord knitted type of yarn similar to one you showed. I did decide on one pattern, I’ll see when I’ll get to it. I have to finish one with crochet elements on the shoulders first! 💗
What a great episode! I, too am so excited to start summer knits. I'm currently making the Pyramid in-the-round by Minimi knits in a 2 wt, cotton acrylic blend. Her sample is made in a wool and I prefer no wool during warm weather but wanted elasticity in the yarn. I do love the cotton/wool blend but for fall/spring. It is very warm and humid where I live. Your summer top showcase is wonderful! So many ideas. I think the pink mesh top would look fantastic on you!
Thank you for this episode, I found it very inspiring. The colours that you have chosen are lovely and you seem to suit all of them beautifully. I am looking forward to seeing what you make. Hx 💕🇬🇧🧵🧶
Fun to see this little trip down memory lane! A favorite summer yarn of mine is Lindy Chain by Knitpicks. It’s a 70% linen 30% Pima cotton chainette. Kind enough to the budget, good service and easy to wear in warm weather ❤
I always enjoy your podcasts Selma - you're an amazing inspiration - each FO and started project is a beauty! Yikes, I'm just about to finish the raglan and start the body of my first Lento, I need to figure out how to (if possible) avoid that issue; like you, I didn't look at a huge number of completed projects on Ravelry prior to the start (although I remember thinking I wish the schematic was more detailed). 🧶It was interesting to hear how you're choosing projects for the Nutiden yarn, I have some in stash and am anxious to select the appropriate patterns - this insight is helpful. Have a great spring and thanks for another great episode ❤
I think the issue is likely mostly due to the yarn. I think a more drapey yarn would not cause such a problem and also a size with less ease. And thank you 😊😊
I honestly haven't knit any summer tops Eeks ! So many great choices...but I've had the Siesta top in my Ravelry faves for a long time, so I'm going to start there...Thanks for reminding me, Selma ! Plus the Corran Cardi looks so worthwhile to knit for a transitional Spring/Summer/Fall garment in cotton/wool...Love it ! You inspire me :D
I was in the test knit for the Talulah Tee test and the fit is soooooo good and it was a pretty quick knit..... I LOVE mine and get sooo many compliments on it...... I highly recommend it!
Thanks for this inspiring video. The Flex is on top of my list and I have the same yarn (Lino by Lang). The Velichor is a wonderful knit! I often wear it as a vest in spring and autumn over a long sleeved Tee or even a blouse. I can only recommend it ❤ It will be a nice new item in your vest collection
I would love your recipe if you do decide to share! Every time I watch you, I realize how much I still have to learn! Thank you so much for your insight and your ideas!
I'm currently working on a Kuutar Tee in Lion Brand Cotton Bamboo Linen... I really like the yarn even though it is a bit splitty. So many great ideas!!! 😀
You give me such inspiration! I, too, am in a blue yarn stage right now. Some of your summer yarns would be lovely in a top that's a favorite of mine...check out Urchin by Libby Jonson. I've knit two so far and find them very wearable in a cotton/linen blend or all linen yarn. Thanks for sharing.
Loved all the summer recommendations! Planning to visit Ottawa sometime in probably May. My daughter-in-law just started knitting and wants to take me to the yarn shops in Ottawa. I was telling her about the ones that you have recommended before in your podcast.
Another enjoyable podcast. I have just finished knitting the Rota Top and used creative linen from Rowan for mine. I just love this top and this yarn gives beautiful stitch definition. Can not wait for warmer weather to wear it. My next knit is the Adriata and then would love to knit the Anker Sweater. Thank you for sharing your knits with us.
I love the hot pink Patons Grace! Joann’s has that yarn on sale right now and I just ordered three 6-packs (hot pink, blush, and natural) for lacy summer crochet tops to wear over sleeveless dresses and tank tops. ❤
Ooh I like the Ankers. Just FYI you might want to consider adding short rows. It feels a bit high on the neck in the front but that could have just been my tension making it too tight at the top. Just a thought. :)
Thanks a lot for giving such great summer knit inspirations. Great stuff. Have to find out, if there are some of them in German. I am not used to knit English pattern.
Thank you Selma, I got so many pattern ideas from you. I really want to knit my summer clothes from linen, silk and cotton. It's hard to my hands but worth of it. Have a nice spring time.
So much summer knitting inspiration! Are you familiar with the designer Hinterm Stein? Her designs are so beautiful…very modern and elegant. I have her Beyond the Dunes pattern but have yet to knit it. It calls for DK weight and has a cool shoulder detail. It looks like it’s on sale now for 25% off.
Sliding into winter here in NZ but you have really inspired me with all of your summer knit suggestions. Now I’m looking forward to next summer. Thank you Selma 😊
The Lamana knitted a bit longer in the lavendar colour silk yarn would look lovely. The Siesta Tee would be nice in the darker blue or bright pink. The Andrea Mowry perhaps in the burnt orange. But not a fan of that style. The Anka Tee would be nicer. I will have to knit the Corran. The colour reminds me of a lace cardigan I knitted in my 20s for my mother who has long gone for 30 years.
Great to hear some after-wearing feedback 👍🏻 Odd how we wear certain things to death and ignore others 😂 Just a response to your comment on the size inclusivity of the tees you made, a large number of available sizes doesn’t = size inclusive. I saw a new pattern on rav the other day, 9 sizes, max 42” 😔 To fit 60” with intended ease seems to have settled as the standard for fully size inclusive and there are patterns with a smaller max size, all the way down to the ones like I saw above. I haven’t checked all the patterns you mentioned, just saying, don’t see a lot of sizes and trust it to mean size inclusive 😊
I would love the recipe for that top. 💕
I’m laughing to myself, every time you cut and come back, imagining you screaming at your family that you’re podcasting. I appreciate that you can keep going!
You inspire me Selma when you do these episodes, I really enjoy them, Thank you!🥰🇨🇦Sharon.
Glad to hear it!
Selma, you make me feel like knitting everything, I need longer days ...
lol we all do!!

You are so welcome 🤗
Thank you for great summer knits ideas. The Cardigan looks so lovely on you.
You are so welcome!🤗
Blue is definitely your color ❤❤❤
😘😘
It makes your eyes shine!
Love to see your older knits and how good they have held up. I love the pattern ideas too
Thank you! 😊
Love idea of wildflowers top. Color you have chosen is lovely.
Thanks so much, Selma for this super fun episode! You are an inspiration for all these summer goodies . 🍃🐚🌻☀️💙🌊

My pleasure my dear!!

Love the Rota and the Agave

I myself am knitting the Joni by Natasha Hornsby. It’s warmed up substantially so that was inspiration for me.
👍🏻👍🏻 it’s a beauty!
Thank you, dear Selma to mention my new design "Austern Shirt" in your episode... ❤❤❤
You're welcome 😊 lovely designs!
Hi Selma I am smitten with the Peacock tee, I knitted one last summer and NEED a hot pink one this year. I also need the Joni top by N. Hornby and the rota as well Good luck with your summer knits

Hello 👋 unfortunately the nutiden has been a fail and something to explore in the next episode!
Gracias por compartir, ese cardigan me gusta mucho.
Un saludo desde España ❤❤

Pink is 90% of my clothing. Love that colour pink. 😊
Perhaps you are biased 😆
Hola Selma! I would love for you to write down your 'recipe' for sweater/tops. You are so good at your craft & as a newbie that would help me greatly. Gracias!❤
The KFO pure silk stretches a lot with wear, I usually size down for projects with it :)
Love the Nila sweater, thanks for sharing I noticed that Natasja Hornby is offering 50% off all her patterns for one day - April 21, 2024 Amsterdam time
Good to know!!
Thank you for taking the time to insert the design photos. I love making note of them! Do you ever use bamboo or wooden needles for slippery yarns? I find it helps me to have a bit of friction if the yarn has silk or similarly slippery fibers. Happy knitting!
I do sometimes if I’m finding it really challenging although I do gravitate more towards metal
beautiful :))

Thank you for this episode full of inspiration Selma! I like to knit (and to wear!) those spring/summer tops :)
😘😘😘
Lovely ideas, thank you Selma ❤
Glad you like them!
Thanks for a lot of inspiration for the summer. Although it is snowing here right now. You brought sunshine to my mind.
You’re welcome 😊
Omg I loved this, Selma, thank you! I wish it wasn’t quite this hot here in summer cause now I wanna cast on a summer top too! 😜🙌🏻🧶🥰💕😘

Hi Selma, Loved all the inspiration. Thank you. 🤗
You are so welcome!
Great video! I love that Flex pattern. Off to add it to my faves!
Thanks Selma for all your ideas. I have brokken my elbow, so my knitting is a bit on hold. Love your podcasts. Greetings from Nederland❤

I love the hot pink Patons Grace! Joann’s has that yarn on sale right now and I just ordered three 6-packs (hot pink, blush, and natural) for lacy summer crochet tops to wear over sleeveless dresses and tank tops. ❤

Thank you, nice episode Selma 🌸🌺🌸Greetings Anita
Ooh I like the Ankers. Just FYI you might want to consider adding short rows. It feels a bit high on the neck in the front but that could have just been my tension making it too tight at the top. Just a thought. :)
Thanks for the tip!
I like Patons Grace and colors are great.
Very inspiring 🧶 Thank you so much.
So many lovely projects. Really enjoyed your video. Thank you.
You are so welcome!
Thanks for mentioning your inspirations. Loved the Agave and bought it right away.
Her designs are beautiful and I hope one day to make her Chanel cardigan
Your Tussah Silk would make a great ranunculus!
Great choices all around 🧶
Nice selection ❤
I am interested in the tee recipe
Oops! I commented on this show on your last podcast. Oh well.
No worries! Got it and thank you 😊😊
What yarn did you use for the Corran cardigan you were wearing? It’s such a beautiful blue.
It’s a discontinued yarn that was a wool nettle blend.
