Love when James does car gadgets videos it genuinely helps me with stuff I may want for my car. Especially his dash cam videos definitely have helped me want to get a dash cam for my car for insurance purposes to shows who’s at fault in a accident
I just finished installing a dash cam. I didn't want to stick the adhesive on my windshield so I bought a rearview mirror dash cam holder on Amazon. I highly recommend it!
For the mirror phone holder, in my state you would get a ticket for driving with something hanging from your mirror since it blocks your view while driving if someone was crossing the street or a child running out. Years ago they had those auto fan gadgets and they never worked.
I thought all states had a law against driving with things hanging from your mirror...I know MA does, though in 41 years of driving I've never gotten a ticket.
I don’t know if NC has this law but I wouldn’t use the camera holder that drops from the mirror because it would drive me crazy! I’m going to stick with a good cup camera holder - when using GPS I always keep it,plugged in as this use really takes down the power.
I have a sunglasses clip. It came with my night driving glasses. Because both my night driving glasses and my sunglasses are the wraparound variety, they hang down pretty far. I find it's better to just use the sunglasses holder.
Just a note…in VA it is illegal to have stuff hanging from the mirror, and having an air freshener will get you in trouble, too, because it’s obviously intended to hide the smell of drugs or alcohol (eye roll). Nothing on the dash or vents, or hanging off the rear view mirror, or on the glass except required stickers. Check your own state laws for weirdness.
For those thinking about the Mirror Phone Holder in the USA, depending on which state you are in and how the police are with enforcement, you may get pulled over for having an obstructed view. Buyer beware!

The thing about the air freshener is that it's on the dash and it's such a major distraction. If it didn't move at all, it would be one thing, but I think I'd be constantly distracted by it moving all the time.
The phone holder for the rear view mirror would be illegal in the UK because if police can prove you glanced at a notification while driving then they can give you a ticket
The only product that I would get is the air pump, but I got a similar one that is DC powered for my local hardware store for $8. Who's going to pay $80 for the Fanttik X8? There are much cheaper options, and there a tire air pump at most gas stations.
I am a model builder and I am using a tiny vacuum like the shown one for when I make trees or static grass. Normally you would suck the exces product with a sock or stocking over a vacuum cleaner, so you can reuse it. Flock, grass and so on is crazy expensive so you don't want to waste anything. The ATEM car air purifier is something I love - HEPA filter for the car - has strap to hang from headrests, app is a bit wonky, but you can always reach behind and turn the unit on or off. Makes the A/C feel fresher and colder to me, and it won't drain your battery if left on accidentally. It will refuse to come on if the inside is too hot until it cools down a bit - but I still love this gizmo. Intend to have them switch the black case on mine to white case they use on desk models to hopefully stay cooler.

The brass attachment for the Fanttik inflator at 13:18 is a presta valve adapter. Presta valves (also known as French valves) are found on high-end bicycles. I don't have the inflator, but I do have the Fanttik T8 jump starter, which is great.

Wouldn't that car freshener be a distraction when driving? Vacuum is not worth the price for what you get. I would get a dust buster or something like that.
That phone holder that goes on the mirror is illegal in many states. Just a heads up. I think it’s called “obstructed view” your not suppose to hang anything on your mirror. A lot of people don’t know that.
Maybe the solar fan needs to be reimagined. Use it in a south or west facing window to move warm air around a room in the house to help warm in the winter months. It shuts off at night so that's good because the windows get cold with out solar radiation.
I would wonder if, in some states, police might pull you over for vision obstruction with the mirror phone holder. I know where I live the cops will sometimes get you if you have anything hanging from your mirror at all, i.e grad tassles, tassels, etc.
One thing I know about the small portable vacuums is the extremely fine dust clogs up the filter quick and then you need to blow it out with the air compressor. At least the vac you have has a blower feature.
I use a similar mirror clip-on phone holder. It holds very well. I use it to hold an old retired smartphone running Droid Dashcam. If you think about it could you do a comparison of dashcam software? I like droid dashcam but have no idea how it compares to others.
Seems to me that phone holder would be excellent for Uber and Lyft drivers. I've had a few drivers who complain about their phone falling out or downwards with vent holders, and they constantly have to re-adjust it... heck, might get it for my own car!
I've had a few of those holders that fell off the vent. Then I got a new one with an adjustable metal hook that hugs the vent from inside. Holder hasn't fallen off in months.
I got a magnet one that attaches to my vent from five below and it worked perfectly when I did door dash. Though I might go for the mirror one just because I live in Texas and am tired of it blocking the vent
At last, I’ve been waiting to see the Mirror phone holder, I didn’t buy one because I thought it would be in the way, but after seeing this I’ll get one, nice one.
The car vacuum im actually using for my computer setup instead, im having the baseus A2 tho and the attachment for the blowing part is way to big and clumpsy compared to the one on the A3, never had so clean computer or keyboard
The auto fan seems like a great idea until you realize you have to put it on your window and that means it would have to be made with your car's specific windows in mind so it would fit flush and actually suck the hot air out of the car. I would redesign it so it's like the key lockboxes on the cars at the dealership that use thin metal clips. You'd use the metal around the window as a heat sink and radiate heat out of the car using the fan. That would probably work much better. You could also use a piezoelectric heat sink to get the heat out much better. Sure it would be more expensive but it would WORK.
you mean a peltier? the problem with sinking the heat out is that the car gets like 500w-3kw of heat into it if it's sitting in sunlight. pumping that with a heat pump of any kind while it's sitting in the sun would need all of the car covered in solar panels (or getting power from the engine) really best place would probably be somewhere where the car vents out air out of normally, in the boot or something. maybe something that just has it's own battery that charges when the car is driven. then you could leave the windows closed. also the design is kinda stupid with the solar panel being inside the window, as the window is designed to filter everything but visible light(to among other things reduce how hot it gets inside)
I love your honesty about testing all kinds of products. I think the solar air freshener would drive me crazy sitting on my dash. I could never use a sunglass holder because I need my sunglasses every time I go outside. but it seems like they could be useful for other things. I'm afraid to use one of those window fans for fear it would make it too easy to break into my car (I don't have a garage).
The auto vent window thing, was out back in the 90's when I was first driving, it didn't work then and looks like it doesn't work now, great video 👍🏼👍🏼🇦🇺🇦🇺🦘🦘Cheers from Melbourne Australia
Them coloured vents covers work well if the slide bit that's on urs some have a circle/disc type mechanism built into the dash like underneath or at the side and the directional left to right fin is behind the vent cover so could work
I've purchased those car vents b4, actually have em on my car now, they look real good. But if you attach anything to the vent it will remove the tabs. all in all it's still a cool thing if you want to bling the inside of your car.
I love my Ford Fusion Energi. 26 miles pure electric plus a nice comfortable ride. Nice to know we have the same brand of car. I always appreciate your videos. Thanks again
I had one of those car solar fans, but mine let the window close and it actually did cool down a parked car a bit. It doesn't work with tinted windows though, unfortunately.
The phone holder can cause all kinds of problem with view and mirrors falling off off of old cars. We all know what a pain that is make sure you sell that with disclaimer of liability. Thanks for the work you do cheers.
I tried to get one of the mirror phone holders for my dad. It didn’t work in his truck or their car (both Dodge) because the mirror is so thick. It was really a bummer because it would have been the perfect solution for him.
I installed the air freshener in Portland, then got on the road. The action of the ball must have hypnotized me. I awoke refreshed and in New Mexico two days later!
I bought the rear-view mirror phone holder and here are the problems for me: 1. The phone must be in landscape (horizontal) configuration. You'll see in the video that James tries at first to make it portrait (vertically) but realizes it doesn't work and makes it horizontal. If you try to insert it vertically the phone hits up against the bottom of the mirror. 2. The clamps that hold the sides of the phone press the buttons on the side of the phone. So the volume and power button buttons are constantly getting pushed when you put the phone in the cradle. It would have been perfect if the arm holding the phone was twice as long to give more distance between the top of the phone and the mirror. Also if the cradle had a bottom support as well as the two side supports so that the phone wasn't getting pinched so hard right where the buttons are.
As for the car mirror phone holder it's going to be illegal in most states because it obstructs your view of the road nothing should be hanging below the mirror of your car especially a large phone
I have the vent covers! Mine are in blue. They're a little tricky to put on but once you do, I really like how they look. I never move around my vents so it doesn't matter to me that it hinders that.
Binder clips reign supreme - an office staple that's cheap as chips. If the tongues are a problem, just flip 'em down and whenever you need a card it's just a few simple actions to pull them in and out. Large rubber bands could also work with more fragile things, wrapped around the visor.
My Prius has a built in "Auto Fan". It needs to keep the hybrid battery cool and has a solar panel on the roof. It makes a noticeable difference compared to cars parked around me.
Air freshener nice Bling vent covers cool! Visor clip can clip anything not limited as shown, like a garage door opener maybe. Police will have problem with Mirror phone holder: like air fresheners, dice and other things it’s an obstruction of view and you’ll get a ticket. Use at your own risk. Vacuum… expensive DustBuster, but attachments might be nice. Fanttik looks good. Takes awhile for car tire, but it’s better than driving on low air to gas station air machine. Auto Fan …LOL!
I have the sunglasses clip but no longer use it since my glasses would get too hot because I have to use the visor to hold up the sunshade, I forgot all about it holding cards though and that would be handy for parking garages. I didn't like the clip holding my sunglasses too much anyway because if it holds the arms it sags and if it holds the nose piece then the arms dangle
A dustbuster is big and clunky, where are you going to conveniently fit that in your car? Also, unless you have a modern car that has a 120v outlet in it already, then you're going need a 12v converter just to charge this in your car.
You can buy an air compressor that works off the car battery for the same price as that tire inflator, and it would be much more sensible, since there's no need for charging.
@@jdjd7127 If you're car won't start, then inflating the tires really won't matter; not to mention, you can use someone else's car to run it. I would agree though that a compressor or a battery booster is a much better investment for about the same money, or both for twice as much.
I had one of the original auto fans. I felt they did help only slightly. When compared to leaving it with and without it on various days. It did help for stuffiness.
I would think twice before leaving a card of any type clipped to the visor because of theft. Be careful hanging anything from the mirror because you might get cited for obstruction of vision. The law says that you must not move your vehicle on a highway when the driver's view to the front or to the sides is obstructed. Obstructions may range from the parking permit or other objects dangling from the rearview mirror.

It would sadly be illegal in the UK as it blocks the view through the windscreen.
I got a magnet one that attaches to my vent from five below and it worked perfectly when I did door dash. Though I might go for the mirror one just because I live in Texas and am tired of it blocking the vent
@@RogueAstro85 I actually think I've seen that magnet one at Five Below here, and I'm in CT. Five Below, gotta love that store.
Yeah I always leave my credit cards clipped to my sun visors. I like potential theives being able to see them
The ONLY time I'd buy a "must have" gadget is if U review it & find it's o.k.
Congrats...another great review...even if Bailey wasn't there. 😥
Sure it would be more expensive but it would WORK.
you mean a peltier? the problem with sinking the heat out is that the car gets like 500w-3kw of heat into it if it's sitting in sunlight. pumping that with a heat pump of any kind while it's sitting in the sun would need all of the car covered in solar panels (or getting power from the engine)
really best place would probably be somewhere where the car vents out air out of normally, in the boot or something. maybe something that just has it's own battery that charges when the car is driven. then you could leave the windows closed.
also the design is kinda stupid with the solar panel being inside the window, as the window is designed to filter everything but visible light(to among other things reduce how hot it gets inside)
As a Heads Up Display (HUD) the phone holder would work well.
However, HUD's can be distracting.
Turn off notifications if using as a HUD
My old SUV has no ac and dad got me trucker's fan for it XD
Excellent idea making blower moter work harder by obstructing vent fins!
Them coloured vents covers work well if the slide bit that's on urs some have a circle/disc type mechanism built into the dash like underneath or at the side and the directional left to right fin is behind the vent cover so could work
First gadget I bought due to these reviews is that car mirror phone holder. Looks great
I've purchased those car vents b4, actually have em on my car now, they look real good. But if you attach anything to the vent it will remove the tabs. all in all it's still a cool thing if you want to bling the inside of your car.
Bounce dryer sheets. One in each door pocket of your vehicle. I use sport fragrance. Replace as needed.
I had those same visor clips. And I didn’t like them. The glasses would jiggle and make noise and it really annoyed me.
"A lake card before Lake Meade disappears." Was so savage xD
That vacuum is actually a pretty good deal if it really has an 80,000 rpm brushless motor as they advertise.
I did like the car vacuum but the price is just too much for me.
Definitely enjoy your videos for the simple reason, you test these products under normal conditions the way they are designed.
I bought the rear-view mirror phone holder and here are the problems for me:
Your channel just keeps getting better and better . Thanks for putting so much time , effort and money into these reviews .
Your mirror is the first one I've ever seen without the dimming lever on it.
Auto dimming mirror? I had it on my Grand Marque
My Prius has a built in "Auto Fan". It needs to keep the hybrid battery cool and has a solar panel on the roof. It makes a noticeable difference compared to cars parked around me.
Air freshener nice
Bling vent covers cool!
With the fact that a dustbuster is $25, I can't imagine anyone buying that minivac
well you can put this in your glove compartment, also it's usb-c powered so you can charge it using your car
A dustbuster is big and clunky, where are you going to conveniently fit that in your car?
Also, unless you have a modern car that has a 120v outlet in it already, then you're going need a 12v converter just to charge this in your car.
I genuinely thought that every car had the anti-glare flip button and that most people don't know what it does.
You can buy an air compressor that works off the car battery for the same price as that tire inflator, and it would be much more sensible, since there's no need for charging.
Or for like a hundred dollars more a whole battery jump pack tire inflator etc in case ur battery goes dead in ur car as well
@@jdjd7127 If you're car won't start, then inflating the tires really won't matter; not to mention, you can use someone else's car to run it. I would agree though that a compressor or a battery booster is a much better investment for about the same money, or both for twice as much.
This movie is quite informative and easy to understand. Gratitude to you.
Movie?
Saturday best day for a review as always love the channel
I had one of the original auto fans. I felt they did help only slightly. When compared to leaving it with and without it on various days. It did help for stuffiness.
DO NOT LEAVE THE BALL IN THE CAR!!!! If the sun hits it right then your car will go up in smoke. Cover it if you have to but please be careful.
Learned that with a paper weight could of caught my house on fire.
We also had the window fan in the 90s. I remember it being cheap and not doing anything.
Where I live, creeps will smash your window for anything visible in a vehicle, that's after they get the catalytic converter, of course.
Thank you for actually taking the time and really looking for cool accessories/gadgets. Very good informative video !
