i use a toothpick to push into the holes to force air out and epoxy in.

Hi Thanks for the video. Do you still use this technique? What if you want to stabilize a slab with a lot of bug holes (like hundreds)? This epoxy looks a bit too thick to spread on.
This epoxy is actually pretty runny. It finds its level very quickly. I wouldn't see any issues with filling many small holes. Consider deep set epoxy if you have a large area to fill.

Yes. Any water or solvent based finish will stick. Stain won’t change the color.
Why did you not stagger the board joints? Best for strength and looks.
It's a tabletop glue-up with dominoes. Plenty strong.
Would it be safer with a heat gun?
Yes, for sure.
Heat gun works fine .
