The "confiscation act" as he describes it was brought in in Ireland by the Criminal Assets Bureau..basically they can seize money, property, business that has been used or obtained via the proceeds of crime (proceeds of crime act).
Yep and one reason that the Kinahan mob have done so well is by going outside and using the Hawala system (google it to see a brief definition - basically transfers of money between trusted parties using go-betweens and all happening in a way that allows for money to be moved without the scrutiny of banking regs etc.). Very clever - its a system that goes back to the 1300s, first used in India and used in many Islamic countries today. This also allows them to launder money in places like Iran which - like the Kinahans - face US sanctions. It is amazing how criminality can evolve.

Speaking as somebody who had to be a serious London villain, which incidentally made be buy the book, however, the book was absolute garbage. Don't get me wrong I've read a copious amount of organised crime books in my day but Judas Pig harboured the mind set of a complete moron and did not do justice to the obvious intelligence that this guy carries. It could have been a million times more cohesive and less vulgar and still got it's point across. Unfortunately it seemed to be aimed at people who are either impressed or aspire to this kind of thing.
Half of of it, I just didn't believe, yet I believe everything he say's here. Very strange, and a missed opportunity in my opinion.
