- Baleno 2022 has been launched and has already shaken up the market with its features that are first in segment.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno was always known for offering a lot of value in the after market and the legendary Maruti suzuki after sales service which is even better at NEXA dealerships, so now you have more reasons to get the 2022 baleno over its rivals like the TATA Altroz and Hyundai I20.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno was never known for safety and had a lot of issues during accidents for its body structure and build quality, has it changed in the new 2022 Baleno?
Maruti says they have worked on the structure of the body and 50 kgs have been added for better stability and better safety you also get an option to have 6 air bags in your car.
This is great news for those concerned with safety and would not consider Maruti Suzuki for its poor build quality and prefer Tata but still after driving the car for a long time I did not get the same kind of feel that I get with Volkswagen or Tata cars.
The suspension has been retuned and reworked as well, you get lot more composure at higher speeds and at city speeds you get lot more comfort this makes 2022 Baleno an excellent all round car.
what left me impressed is that this is not just an evolution over the old Baleno, this is completely new car.
You have a lot of colours to choose from, so you can pick the one you like. You can also customise your Baleno as per your liking NEXA also offers a lot of accessories for the new Baleno.

Underrated Channel. Very good comparison & wonderful content. I own Altroz, but i20 & New Baleno bhi chalaye hai maine. Everything you mentioned is correct but one thing I personally felt that i20 requires more gear shifting than New Baleno in city & suspension of New Baleno is better than i20. I felt this when I drove through bad roads. Otherwise Both are good cars.

Just Booked my Luxe Beige Baleno Alpha Manual today...90 days waiting....anyways wish me luck .....my first ever car....but i also love i20....both are fab cars....and right now, the prices between baleno and i20 are almost identical....
infact if you ask me, i20 is more VFM....for same price it is giving you a bigger touchscreen, Bose Sound system compared to Arkamys....a sunroof.....yes Baleno has a 360 cam and a HUD..but I would prefer the feature list of i20....
it's just that where I live the maruti network is much stronger and the workshop and this dealership is next door and also a friend of mine had an i20 elite and she told me her ownership experience was subpar in terms of reliability of the car...so i choose baleno...and also in this Luxe Beige colour, the Baleno just looks top notch..even better than i20 imho....
but of course looks are subjective....I agree with most of your points..I test road both of them for over 10 kms...multiple times....before making a choice...the tractability of baleno's engine is much better than i20...in terms of Naturally Aspirated options...i20 does have better high speed stability and brakes...but in terms of space, i20 is more spacious, sure the boot is a little smaller, but the rear seat space is unmatched, even putting some sub compact SUVs to shame...
i20 also has a lot of creature comforts such as wireless charger, air purifier and the list goes on....Baleno does have slightly better seats...
it's almost inseparable, like king kong vs godzilla....
anyways both are fantastic cars, anyone will be happy with either...and both are evenly priced as well with good dealer/service network and very acceptable ownership costs...i20 was released in 2019, maybe it is due for a minor update...

There is not huge difference in mileage of i20 and Baleno, i dont know why there is so much hype for Baleno's mileage.
There is hardly 2 to 3 km difference.
But the quality and premiumess u get in i20 its way better than Baleno.

BALENO ZETA MT: My cons: The rearview mirror is bang ON the windscreen in the new Baleno Zeta. I am 5'10 & many times, when I glance towards the left of the windshield while driving, I am blinded by this blind spot wherein the rearview mirror stares at my face obstructing vision. I have to bend my neck to see ahead. This is a gross faulty design. I feel bad I did not notice this in the test drive.
Moreover, you cannot individually operate the fog lamp(Extra fittings). Either you need to switch on the parking lights or the headlights. During rains or fog, the white light is useless. It reflects the light back at you. White light is fantastic when you have a clear day. I felt the braking is a bit spongy. Horn is a bit squeaky.
My pros: Otherwise, the car is good. I have travelled over 1000km on pitiable & pathetic NH roads from Nashik (Maharashtra)to Surat (Gujarat)and further and....back, the car has minimum body roll & excellent fuel average. I could get a 21.5 avg on petrol. Six airbags, Fantastic sound system. Very roomy interiors. A very impressive soundproof cabin, the armrest is a great value addition. Lots of boot space in this car. Tilt and telescopic steering column.
Overall: Baring a few cons, I am sold on this family car. A must-buy, value for its on-road price of 9.97lakhs in Maharashtra. I enjoy driving this new Baleno Zeta MT.

I dont agree with your proposition that Baleno makes more sense than i20. It ultimately boils down to the preference of an individual customer.You have just compared the petrol version of Baleno to i20's NA engine. i20 is better than Baleno in below areas.
1. Varied engine options especially diesel and DCT engine with a sporty Nline version to choose from. Agreed that they are costly but offer multiple choices to the end customer where Baleno has only a manual and an AMT option
2. I dont agree with your gimmicky features opinion. Sit in an i20 and just indulge yourself in that 7 speaker bose sound system. That is pure bliss. The reverse camera quality of i20 is top notch and some people truly love sunroof. These are all costly features and hence the premium.
3. There is ESC, VSM, Traction control, Hill hold assist, DRVM etc in top of the line variant. Baleno also definitely has few of them but not all.
4. You have 5 year wonder warranty and 3 year RSA. RSA team is top notch.
4. I know looks are subjective but I would pick i20 over baleno any day. Those tail lamps glowing in the night are a feast to the eyes.
Baleno no matter is a great product from maruti with good driving dynamics and fuel efficiency. But the difference is minimal.

yeah sunroof is good but not a practical feature especially in climate in like india. You might disagree but no comments on. I would personally prefer a cooled glovebox, heads up display and 360 camera and window shades instead of that sunroof.
I personally feel the top of i20 model is aggressively priced for its feature list and cost around 12lakhs on road(somewhere close to that). And if someone really have to spend that much why shouldn't someone add extra 1-1.5 lakhs and buy the honda city VMT variant?? it's just more sensible.
for safety i20 is better no doubt, even the tail lights are worth looking a gaze but the overall design is bit more overdone as per my likings. whereas baleno has more classy sober and subtle look(and i prefer that).
so yeah choices differ. but your points are valid enough no doubt.
@@sohamdas8345 Thanks for your comment. This is what even I have said about individual preference. Also, we do have cooled glove box in i20. There is TPMS which is a boon for long night highway rides, cooled wireless charging if your phone is compatible and you hate wires which is a miss in Baleno. Tell me you dont love sunroof when you have kids and you go to hillstations like ooty, mussoorie or forest roads like bandipur. 360 camera is probably a miss but certainly not window shades or ventilated seats when you have as powerful an AC as that of an i20. The seats of baleno are too soft and not as comfortable as that of an i20 for long rides while 5 folks can easily sit in an i20 which is a crunch in baleno. These all points work in i20's favour while baleno scores high on mileage. As far as price goes, top spec Asta o manual comes to 9.5 ex showroom while Baleno is also pretty close. As far as other options go, you certainly have several options but then you either need to cough up that money or compromise on features/engines. Otherwise why would someone pay 22 lakhs for Xuv700 or 45 lakhs on Fortuner. Under 11 lakhs here I feel i20 is a great VFM product. Baaki yeh Compact SUV fad is just bhedchaal where they offer slightly higher ground clearance at the cost of body roll. Cheers.

Which car is better in highway driving ?
I used to be a big fan of hyundai, i have grand i10 and its a great car, but when it comes to servicing it's a headache... You have to wait for 1weeks just for engine oil and it takes a month for a spare parts, plus the aftersale service is very low, so i shift to maruti and its a peace of mind.
I, too drive an i10 Grand.
The service centre at Down Town Hyundai in my town Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat is efficient, prompt and honest.
No problems in last eight years!

New i20 gives 16 to 17 KMPl in city and 20mpl in highway... Performance, nvh, build quality and feature wise i20 is much better than baleno

I20 has by far the biggest wheelbase in the segment meaning it offers far more space than it's rival. Heck, the wheelbase of I20 is nearly comparable to CSUVs lol. There's simply no way Baleno offers more space at the rear or front than I20.

I was also confused with all these options, last week i purchased i20 sports. Venue/Sonnet is under powered & hardly u will get
13kmpl. I had already driven alto k10 so i didn't consider fronx as i wanted to try new in Hyundai. In i20 you will fill premium & also car is stable. U will get city mileage of at least 15kmpl & highway 21kmpl. In i20 you will get 6 airbag standard which is not available in fronx.
