After watching many videos on air rifles, this video convinced me to buy the Gen3i. I've had it for a few weeks now, & just love it.

I just received my rifle yesterday. Spent all morning and afternoon shooting. I love it already! I know there is a break in period but I was getting hole in hole @ 30 yards. Pushed it out to 50 yards and smacked a 4" steel spinner for 20 consecutive shots. I am far from an experienced shooter and this rifle makes me smile! I've only shot the Hades 15,89 Grain so far. Mannnnn do they mushroom nicely @ 50 yards.
Yes, the cocking effort is heavy. But for the power this beast is releasing it's worth it! I can't wait to see what the next 500 shots will produce. Very happy with my purchase. Get yourself one!

I have the Gen 1 Swarm in .22. It has been great. I've taken many ground squirrels with it out to 40 yards. I just ordered your $10 trigger upgrade. That is a pretty good deal for a less than 2 pound trigger.

Nice to know that the magasins of Gen2 fit for this Gen3. I didn't see anyone say it before on YT. The trigger kit is a fun fact, but for most people think it's best to leave this job to a gunsmith like you said.

    • @EarthSurferUSA
      @EarthSurferUSA Рік тому +1

The head of the stock screw is bottomed out on the trigger assembly, so it can't be turned in any further. I went to the hardware store and got a screw 2mm longer, and bottomed out that head also. Did the job nicely and passed my bump tests easily. I understand the liability JC is worried about with his vids, and I know our education system is terrible today. But to me, it is insulting to mankind to have a gun smith laugh at you, if you can find one who even cares to do it. He might call the cops on you under some red flag law, if you can't figure that out. lol

I recently bought the pro version of this rifle. I absolutely love it. It is very accurate right out of the box, and I mean really accurate. Mine loves the H&N Baracuda Hunter, the H&N Baracuda Hunter Extreme and the Gamo Rocket pellets. I was shooting pcp's a lot, but this one gave me back the love for break barrels. I recommend it 100%. Thank you, JC, for your advice and enthousiasm. Keep doing what you do. Greetings from Belgium, Europe.

So you answered my question with this video...
    Hatsan sniper vortex qe .22

    Gamo Swarm Magnum GEN3i .22
    H&N BARRACUDA GREEN

    "28.5" FPE
    H&N HORNET

Good stuff. Thanks for all the informative videos 👍

Starter for what? There at the top of the food chain for break barrels. Your not going to get a combo of more power and accuracy out of a break barrel and the add in the fact that they weight 2-3 lbs less than most break barrels. They are a great first air rifle if you want the power for fun or hunting. They also help build up upper body strength while cocking them. after 50 shots you got a good workout. After a week of shooting they feel much easier to cock :).

@@charlesoutdoors2424 yeah that guy Frank Cross doesn't know what he's saying talking bout starter rifle, this is Gamo's most powerful air rifle at the moment my cons for this rifle are it's a little too heavy and long, the recoil is too strong it bruises my face after 5-8 shots and my .177 sometimes still breaks the sound barrier with h&n 10.65 pellets when trying to be descrete

I own a number of Gamo rifles and I'm impressed with the performance for the price. I like the Magnum but I'm not sure I need one? I will probably never go hunting so personally the Fusion or Maxxim are fine for me. Take care bud and have a great holiday weekend with the family!!! I just got a Gamo Bone Collector Gen 3i and I thought I would have to spend more money on magazines for the new system. Fortunately I have 8 mags for my .22 Gamo Swarm Magnum Gen 3i (which is so difficult for me to cock that I can barely use it!) and I am really glad to know that these Gen 2 mags work with the latest system.

Gamo Red Fire are also very accurate in this rifle and so should the Daisy HP 15.27-4 grain pellets since they are very similar except the HP doesn’t have a plastic tip. Would love to see the DHPs in your lineup since many of us use them for hunting/pesting/plinking, and target.

I had done my research and originally ordered a Gen 2 off of Amazon a year ago to own my first break barrel air riffle and shoot targets. I always use family & and friends' riffles to go plinking or to shoot targets. Well, when it showed up in the mail I took apart the box and checked out the riffle but something didn't add up. The magazine colors didnt look like a gen 2, and the loader mechanism looked different. I looked back at the box logo & info. It said Gen 3. 😮 🤯
I think somebody in shipping messed up. Since I never got charged the difference 😬😂 cool riffle. I love plinking with this riffle compared to the other gamo .177 swarm wispers that I've shot. I like using the .22 H&N Barracuda Hunter extreme pellets for pests & and plinking. I feel they are more accurate than the Crossman hollow point pellets that i use more for target practice. I have no experience in firearms, so please excuse me if I said a word or something about the riffle wrong. I do recommend this riffle to people you won't regret it.

I’m sitting here with a brand new .177 in my lap. It was the only break barrel that made sense to buy honestly from my point of view. My last couple air rifles have been an umarex octane in .22 that was an absolute peach of a sweet shooter. And an old crossman phantom I painted flat dark earth lol. The umarex was an amazing rifle for years until my uncle borrowed it, for some reason decided to try to disassemble it and lost pieces.. but without ever shooting this gamo I have to say, it’s a step ahead. The octane was a heavy big magnum gun with a thumbhole stock too, but the gamo is so much lighter and better balanced it really feels good in the hands where as shooting the octane always felt like I was wielding a barrel .50 cal..

The Gamo rifles are really nice guns. I have two of them, and you're right, they are doing something right because both of mine are also incredibly accurate. I really like the feel of them too. The balance is just right and they feel solid, but light. Power of course is superb no matter which Gamo rifle you have. I've had great luck with the red fire pellets for squirrel hunting. Most of my shooting is around 20 to 50 yards max. *Keep the screws in the stock tight!

try the 10.65 gamo TS-10 Long range. It's been the best pellet for my gen3 .177 ..and does not go super sonic, so it's quieter and the flight is more consistent. This pellet is also coated with what feels like a wax like substance and you can hear and feel the pellet fit more snugly in the breech and the sound blast is the same tone, pellet after pellet, indicating to me they are consistently produced. this pellet is also much cheaper than the H&N green match in the same "magnum" gr weight (~10.49)

    Accurate and powerful.
But, the cocking effort is rough.
And I'm not a weak guy, but after being out in the woods with it for close to an hour, my arms are worked out.

@bobybaba5267 some rifles just very a bit in velocity. This can do with the piston and breech seals, or even the gas ram. 50-60 fps is not out of the ordinary. Also, you should be experiencing higher velocity at the greater altitude. There is less resistance so you should be getting higher FPS. Also, not sure how many shots you have through your rifle. this video was the reason why I bought my first air rifle. Thank you JC for the great trigger product. Looking forward to installing it and dialing in this same exact air rifle. Appreciate the time you spend explaining in great detail the nuances of this gamo air rifle and the very helpful tips. Looking forward to more content. Perhaps you might demonstrate how to bore sight this air rifle with a laser bore sight? Just a suggestion. I posted a question about that on a reddit thread and got conflicting information about whether it is even possible to precisely zero the scope with a laser bore device...the concern was the moderator design and baffles inside that might interfere with a laser bore sight device. I have not tried it yet, so perhaps you might look at that and see if there is a method, or a workaround. The reason I am recommending this is due to many that are stating that the OEM scope does not hold zero very well and thus a replacement scope with more durability is recommended. I anticipate this will probably hold true and thus setting zero for the scope will be necessary. I know how to do a proper live fire zero, but coming from a powder rifle background, bore sighting saves alot of time and money and it's been my experience it is far more simple to get to a near perfect zero...without sending a round down range. And that is helpful for lots of reasons, mainly that it can be done in the backyard and not scare the pajamas out of my sleepy neighbors. Thanks again.

@@tdmmcl1532 Did not really answer your question huh. With a 16gr. pellet your pellet will drop one mill dot about every 28 yards, which is a flat trajectory for air guns. I don't think a bore sight would be beneficial. (I sight my air guns in a 40 yards by the way). If you shoot a lot, that gun will break any scope, and I have broken about 5 of them so far. My favorite is a little Leupold 33mm, 3-9 power with adjustable objective lens from the freedom line. It was like $320, but an extra $230 to putting a mil dot reticle in their custom department. Most scopes die at about 500 shots with a mag springer air gun, and I got over 4000 before I sent it back for repair with their lifetime warranty, (which is why I popped so much.). Of course, it did not come back as good as new,---so I will collect more data when I get time and send it back.
You could have gotten a 2mm longer screw at your local hardware store for about 30 cents. So he ripped you good, and I answered your questions a bit.

@@EarthSurferUSA I bought the hawke vantage mil dot. Life time warranty. The Gamo oem scope is definitely a challenge to zero and the overall operation is ancient and not very smooth. One thing I noticed is that the gamo scope can not be shifted back to my natural eye position. I moved it as far back on the rings as it can go and I still feel uncomfortable straining to get closer to the eye piece. I hope this longer hawke scope will solve that issue and be easier to work with and last. fingers crossed.

update on laser bore sight for the gamo swarm magnum Gen3i .177 (this probably applies to all Gamo rifles in any caliber that uses the same gamo moderator "can"): does not work! The internal baffles are set in a series at different distances and the bore sight will not meet and match those internal baffles. I tried different size adapters, but could not find any that seats precise enough to make the laser aligned to the plane of the bore. Frustrating! I contemplated removing the moderator baffles, but the moderator shroud is quite deep (almost 5 inches) and that makes placing the relatively short laser into the bore = mission impossible.
another update: I have three gen3i 10x autoloader magazines. NONE OF THEM are manufactured properly and present the pellet well out of alignment to the bore when cocking. This means the pellets is being crushed on one side as it is being pushed into the bore. So, I decided to manually load pellets to experiment if that misalignment was making a difference and indeed it does. Now, the shot group is much more consistent with far fewer fliers. It is quite disappointing to see this manufacturing design flaw in an otherwise good air rifle. If you look at the 10x magazine, you will notice this. Each pellet chamber is offset to true by about 40 percent! There is no way the autoloader pusher rod is going to push a pellet into the bore without causing either skirt or ball (or both) damage. I noticed this because one of the RWS BB pellet hybrid pellets was breaking apart during loading and the little brass/copper bb was falling out, but not the lead body-skirt. This lead me to realize the pellets were getting crushed by this flaw in the 10x magazine loader. Today, I bought a .17 cleaning rod and used it to push pellets back out of the breech to inspect them. Each pellet had damage to the skirt and tip. This is due to the out of true 10x magazine chambers that present the pellets well outside the plane of the bore. This means the pusher rod is forcing them back into the breech and they get jacked up. Manually feeding the pellets demonstrated this flaw is very real as the grouping and consistency of shots is so much better. I contacted gamo about this and will hopefully have them address this. That all three 10x magazines have this very same flaw tells me this is a design issue that is not easy to solve. I will probably just remove the 10x autoloader assembly altogether and just convert it to a more reliable single manually shot rifle.

It’s a .177 but am wanting something I can shoot farther with and this one has got some serious power. I’m considering the .177 variation of this gamo because I know it will shoot lighter lead pellets above 1150 fps. Just not sure if the higher fps in the .177 will perform well or not. Do you have a review of the 17cal? I know a lower fps with a heavier weight is still powerful enough to take a turkey with ease but I just enjoy to hear them crack the sound barrier. Great review brother I’m just getting back into shooting since I was a kid haven’t hunted in 17 years but my boy is 6 and he enjoys shooting with me and I kind of miss shooting and can shoot these in my yard so I don’t have to make special trips to the range which is awesome. That being said, kind of new to the air gun thing but love the information and review you provided and mostly agree. Try it at 65 yards and also with the 18gr JSB pellets. FPS with light pellets is a sales pitch, but the more FPS it has, the more FPE it probably has. Light pellets do not shoot well over 40 yards and lose energy quicker than heavier pellets. Just about any pellet shoot well to 15 (sling shot yardage) yards. The real test of over 50 yards. Heck, I sight my scopes in at 40 yards. With this gun, it is less than one mill dot from the cross, from 20 to 60 yards with a good 18gr. pellet.

Have a watch of this; ua-cam.com/video/U-kSfDkoVHU/v-deo.html
It's a parallax issue. You will have to work out how to change your position when changing range. Sometimes it's better to use less zoom and go for a smaller target, also the pellet you are using will affect were it lands. These guns like a heavier pellet at longer distances, highly accurate so long as you work out how to dial in the grain weight and parallax issues.
You can actually plug a bunny at just over 100 yards with this puppy if you get it all dialled in, it seriously has the punch to pull that off.
