Thanks. My car was excellent on the race track, very good grip even with cheap tyre (front pirelli, rear nexen). I used on the track J hook brake discs with yellow ebc pads and ebc racing brake fluid. The brake power only good for 1 lap. After it needed cooling back. My personal opinion is these brakes are too small for this car, minimum need 380mm or bigger discs and 6 or more spots calippers. After the race I built a brake air cooling system for front brakes.
I know everyone speaks highly of their current drive but, my last 3 are RS Focus mk3, audi S3 2016, Nissan 370 Nismo. In my opinion, the Astra has by far the most boost. Feels much more than 280 bhp, the torque when on boost feels like much more expensive motors. I’m 47 and it reminds me of driving the original turboed’ hatches from the 90s More smiles than my last cars and got cash back.
Hi, what were those little black hatchbacks that flew past you around the 7min mark and then at the 9min mark a blue hatch ? Also was this the Astra VXR 2015, the same one we got in Australia ?
Hi, on 7 min the first hatchback is Renault Megane RS and the second hatchback on 7:40 Audi RS3. The blue hatchback was mk3 Ford Focus Rs. Yes this Astra same what you can buy in Australia just the name different.
@@MJPMoto hey thanks, so those cars must be seriously fast if they past you so easily. Ive heard a lot about the Megane RS being a good track car, but is it faster stock, or maybe they have had things done to them ? Also, was yours stock ?
@@johnmiceter Only just rs3 faster. I had few thing why was slow. 1. My brake was overheated 2. I didn't see to much from track because the sun go down and I didn't know the track. I was first time on the track. 3. Lot of staff was in the boot because I spent 4 days in Germany with my "Girlfriend" :D . When the cars past me I always live the accelerate and let him to go. If you check again on 9 min when the ford past me I brake for 110 km/h but after accelerate and I catch him easily. My car 330hp 540nm 1760kg with me with out staff.
@@MJPMoto so normally you would have beaten the Megane and even the Ford RS but not the Audi ? Its just im thinking about buying one of these cars over here in Australia, not for track use but for normal use, but still want it fast 😉. Its a shame we only got the VXR in 2015 and they stopped it, but still you can find some nice ones with low ks. Just wondering also, how long have you owned yours for and can you tell me anything to look out for when buying these and maybe some tips to look after it ?
@@johnmiceter I owned 3 years this car and this car was stage 3 what is beaten lot of stock car (audi s3, ford rs, golf r manual, honda civic type r ...) The parts for this car little bit more expensive than normal car please research the prices before you buy (brake, clutch, flywheel, driveshaft) This car have bad and good points. Bad points: manual, heavy, and no really economy average fuel tank range is 200-250 mile maximum. On the nürburgring 1 lap was 15 liter petrol what is used 20km. Good points: Looking good inside and outside. I prefer the full leather heated air pumped sport seats for this car. Very good this car corner speed and high speed stability over 220-240 km/h. This car no really good for drag race I recommend for rolling race from 2. gear because this car have torq. controll in gearbox so you can't change the gear from first gear to second gear but after you can. Need better water radiator and intercooler for this car doesn't matter you want remap or no and need bonnet went because so much heat produced under the bonnet and kill the electric staff more quickly. Need change the oil and filters every 5000 mile if you don't want killing the pistons and change the gearbox oil 15k mile. The service say to the gearbox don't need touch because life time oil have inside. Yes but only 2.8 liter and very quickly dry out. In Australia maybe more quicker because hot country. Try buy low mile car around 15-30k. If you have more questions don't hesitate to ask.
Thank you. 2,5" full decat and original middle and back box. Very comfortable on motorway. 3" system more deep and too much noise over 80 mph but 10-15 extra hp.
@@MJPMoto Hi, Thank you for your clarification. I still have to remove the second catalyst and I am delighted to have the same son as your opc! Again thank you for your great video!
@@Rob.Mitchell I’m very happy with original suspension set up. I use this car in London so speed hump every where. The car so heavy for track days but 1-2 in year it’s allright. If I want better handling I buy better tire. On this video I used nexen rear tires and pirelli front tires what is no the best. If you fitting michelin pilot sport 2 after you have vxr gokart 😁
@@MJPMoto yeah Pirelli are shit, they were on the front of mine when i bought it and not very old but they were straight off and skipper.. Great video. How did the GTC perform in terms of driver feedback? Any brake fade or serious concerns? Just wondering as I have one. Many thanks
