I knew exacty ONE of these beforehand (would've been two if you hadn't retraced the well-known Doki Doki Panic tidbit, lol). (Sunshine's Sirena Beach reference to the GameCube's controller.)
According to Kaze, SM64 actually does run in 64-bit mode but the compiler probably wasn’t able to produce 64-bit instructions and therefore would split them into two 32-bit instructions
One fact about smb2 usa, it improves over what doki doki panic was, and in the Allstars and Super Mario Advance they bring a better save feature, graphichs improvement and additional content (last one only in SMA)
7 years old me found the New Super Mario Bros Wii pipe on his own, because I wasn't trusting that small pipe going downwards so I tried by myself. I knew of Wart, Bombshell Koopas, the Mario Cartoon, Sunshine, the mini mushroom thing as I said, the 3D Land ghost, the shell thing in 3D World, Mario Maker, Remix 10 and Odyssey's pause screen.
To my absolute shock I didn't actually know these. Like literally every time I watch one of these "Things you didn't know about (insert literally any mario game here)" videos I know literally everything in the video but you ACTUALLY found good secrets that I didn't know (I did know the Mario Run and 3D Land stuff though.)
Hilariously, I actually just came from Kaze's video on the N64's 64-bit nature, where he says every game used some 64-bit floats, but mostly by accident XD
I wonder how many people know about the Super Mario World secret about what happens if you wait in the SPECIAL World for too long. There's also an extra secret that traumatized me as a kid because I accidentally found it on my own as a child. In the Super Mario World Haunted House levels, if you stare at a Boo for too long, their face will suddenly shift into a "🤪" jumpscare. (I know for a fact these two secrets are in Super Mario Advance 2 but not entirely sure about the original version)
Knew all of these except the White Mushroom House in SMB3 and Mario 64 actually being 32-bit. Y'know, I thought for sure the Mario 3 fact would be either the Water World theme being the original version of the Fairy Fountain theme from Zelda or the secret Coinship levels.
How have multiple people never run into a White Mushroom House? I used to run into them all the time (by which I mean they were rare, but I played a lot) even though I had no idea what triggered them.
@@Wendy_O._Koopa tbh I just never really thought about collecting as many coins as possible in certain levels, I was always more focused on finding secret rooms and powerups lol

I havent had the chance to recreate it but in new super mario brothers wii if you can throw an ice block when another player is in the victory animation for completing the course it will slide them off the map
We knew that hammer bros could charge, but not how long it took. (It comes up on some of the harder romhacks we’ve seen Kosmic play.) We knew the flagpole trick, but apparently had the game misattributed. (we thought it was one of the alternate versions of SMB, like Vs.) We didn’t put together that Mamu in Link’s Awakening was Wart. We knew about the bombshell koopas and their long absence. We knew about the white toad houses, but not their trigger. You know, it’s funny. Sounds like we had the exact same experience with that little secret on NSMBWii. I had played that game over & over & over as a kid. I loved (love) that game so much I hoped that one day I’d find some new secret or shortcut or something, as I hadn’t found anything new in literal years, and still played it. I feel like the game was hiding so many secrets. Like, why is world 3 split up into 2 parts? Is there a shortcut through the trees via a secret exit that brings you to the left side of the end castle? Anyways, I’m getting off track. One day I wondered, what if you tried walking into this pipe as mini Mario? And boy was I astonished. But also sad because it’s not the craziest secret, like you said. Still cool though I found something new after years of playing it 😂
I've heard about the aggressive Hammer Bros. +1 Had no idea about the Lost Levels 1-Ups. +0 I knew about Wart in Zelda, he's also in Smash Bros Ultimate as a Spirit. +1 Yes the Bombshell Koopas couldn't bounce around due to technical limitation I believe, funfact they're called Nokobon in German. +1 I have NEVER seen a white Toad House in SMB3, or the anchor. And I didn't know about the card trick either. +0 Knew about the Mario World show, even though I never really watched it (unlike both of the other shows). That's where the Mama Luigi meme is from. +1 Yup, knew about the Building Blocks in Super Mario Land 2. +1 Had no idea about the Mario 64 thing. +0 Knew everything about Sunshine, love that game. +1 Can't remember if I've seen the Luigi Title Screen in SM64DS before, but as a kid I really played around in those menus a lot, so maybe? +0 Yeah the NSMB Secret Code is a classic, also called "Einbahnstraßenmodus" in German. +1 I had no clue the Mario Galaxy boss was supposed to be a Zelda idea. +0 NSMBWii secret is something I believe I've heard of before, but TOTALLY forgot about. +0 Never seen that King Whomp expression in my life. +0 Yea I've seen the ghost in Super Mario 3D Land before, because I loved watching "creepy secrets in Mario games" videos. +1 NSMB2 Rainbow Courses are definitely a thing I've had appear on my playthroughs a bunch of times, but I never looked up the criteria. +0 Bonus Items in NSMBU were something I got all the fucking time, even without trying, it honestly got kind of annoying at some point. lol And yes I knew the item you get is dependant on the number. +1 Knew about both of the SM3DW facts, if you use a Tanooki Twirl or Cat Scratch on the slot machine you'll hit two blocks at the same time btw. +1 Yeah I know about the Fly Minigame, I was NEVER able to beat the hard version of it for the last amiibo costume and I'm mad about it to this day. +1 I know about Remix 10 in Rhythm Heaven but I honestly never even drew the connection for Mario Run, despite having played that game more than most, tbh. +0 I THINK I've heard about the Odyssey facts, I definitely knew about the 1-Up one, but Rosalina's Observatory is so much cooler wtf +0 Heard about the Mario Maker 2 lava trick. +1 Bowser's Fury: true why do the crabs not have cat ears, I always wondered about that +1 speaking of wondering, I actually didn't know about the water crouch jump.. +0 Total Points: 13/24
I'm pretty sure most people who have played through super mario land would know about the bombshell koopas since they aren't really hidden in the levels
I remember collecting 149/150 Power Stars in Super Mario 64 DS. What was frustrating was that there was a glitch. You had to go to the Boo Yard early and Ground Pound the Boos for 8 Red Coins. Otherwise, they would only produce Yellow ones. They only produced Yellow ones for me. I was so frustrated and mad because I had put all that effort into collecting all 150 Power Stars, only to be foiled by the glitch. I started the game all over again in a new game and collected all 150 Power Stars. The first Power Star I went for was the glitched one. That way, I was guaranteed to get it. They should do a remaster of New Super Mario Bros. 2! I would love to welcome the challenge of collecting 1M coins! When I had it for the DS, I couldn't be bothered, but if they do a remaster of the game on the Switch 2, I will get the game again and work to get 1M coins!
I really thought this was going to be one fact that is true in every Mario game, like a fact that every Mario game shares, instead of one fact for each Mario game, and I did know about the aggressive hammer bros, I always waited to long to make my move lol
1:10 The worst part about this constantly spread info is that it's not entirely true. It DID, in fact, start out development as a the sequel to Super Mario Bros. Nintendo was trying to mix things up for the sequel but felt it was TOO different and shelved it and got to work on what we'd call "The Lost Levels", and instead retooled the original sequel into a storybook game called Doki Doki Panic.
@Jeremy Klinger: You miss two secret, in Super mario bros.3 how to get the coins ship. You must be in world 1, 3, 5,6 and their must be a hammer bros on the map, if your coins are a multiple of 11 match that number with the 10 digit of your score, and also make sure to stop the time on even number when you hit the ending goal, if your 10 digit of your score is 5 away from it matching, then hit the goal on Odd number, except the GBA version on mini-castle since the time is change to give you 100 points per second, so if it match you don't have to worry about hitting odd or even number. Also in both version 0 does not count and only Super mario bros. 3 will not count 0 but all other game do count 0. Other secret you miss Super mario world secret 1-up at the goal that gives you time score, you will only know that with a sound queue they are not visual queue, so how to have it. Match the 10 digit of your bonus stars, with the 10th and unit digit of your timmer. so if you have 3 star points currently timer at x00 so if the number of start points is 13, then timer X11, you will get the 1-up before the score is calculated, they are mush better way to get a 1-up so that is why that one as been overlook.
i got 16, a bit less than i was expecting but not bad :3 that nsmbw one shocked me though, that was my first mario game and first game in general i owned as a kid and ive replayed it a ton since then and ive NEVER heard of that secret room
I haven't play Mario Wonder so I guess you got me there. But seriously I never knew about the Super Mario Bros 3 The white toad house. Beside that everything else I learn by myself or watching UA-cam videos over this.
Actually, you're wrong about "Lost Levels." 1up mushrooms are not "hard to come by," as actually they're more frequent than the first SMB, and there's many hidden ones I've found throughout the game. There's also more hidden coin rooms, and the backwards warpzones can offer opportunities to grind for 1ups. Not to mention, Miyamoto and Tezuka admitted they purposely made opportunities for the player to have unlimited 1ups, similar to the stairway trick in SMB1, but because there's more bounce when stomping on enemies in "Lost Levels" the trick is easier to do, and it can be done in 2 different places in the first stage. Also, the notion that SMB2 USA "doesn't count as a real Mario game" is kinda unfair, because Miyamoto considers it one, and stated when they made "Dream Factory Doki Doki Panic" they originally considered using Mario characters in it in the first place. (Which explains why it had 2 Mario items, the star and POW block.) And frankly, many games featuring Mario weren't originally conceived as Mario games either like "Dr. Mario," and "Super Mario Land." Which is a common practice for Nintendo. (Starfox Guard wasn't originally a StarFox game, and Toad wasn't originally in "Treasure Trackers." "Kid Icarus Uprising" wasn't Kid Icarus when it started development.)
I understand why people say mario 2 isnt a mario game. But c'mon. If it wasnt for that game there would be no shy guy's, birdie am i missing anything? Those characters are iconic and still in the games to this day.
That concept of Zelda Ganon’s final form a giant monster where he is both the environment and the boss. They couldn’t pull that off due to 64 limitations. I have a feeling Shadow of Colossus heard of this and pulled it off with Play station 2 larger data or whatever you call it. And that how shadow of colossus was inspired. I can almost put money on that bet, that’s how it happened.
on the title screen whenever you're going into the game, hold L+R and press XYBA at the same time and you'll hear "luigi time!" or something and play as luigi

Still cool though I found something new after years of playing it 😂
7:04 had this happen three times in a row yesterday. Thought I was just super lucky, didn’t know there was a reason !
I got 18/27. The ones I missed were the white mushroom house, card game, N&B, 32 bit, Luigi title, Megaleg, Remix 10, crab, and water jump
Can't believe I've never heard of the white mushroom house. I've also been playing Mario 3 since I was a kid.
NSMB DS was my first videogame ever, and I knew about challenge mode. I really hope to discover something knew about this game one day

Hey now,
each to their own!
I personally love the series 💙
Super Mario 2 and Super Mario Land growing up was the best!
I've heard about the aggressive Hammer Bros. +1
Had no idea about the Lost Levels 1-Ups. +0
I knew about Wart in Zelda, he's also in Smash Bros Ultimate as a Spirit. +1
Yes the Bombshell Koopas couldn't bounce around due to technical limitation I believe, funfact they're called Nokobon in German. +1
I have NEVER seen a white Toad House in SMB3, or the anchor. And I didn't know about the card trick either. +0
Knew about the Mario World show, even though I never really watched it (unlike both of the other shows). That's where the Mama Luigi meme is from. +1
Yup, knew about the Building Blocks in Super Mario Land 2. +1
Had no idea about the Mario 64 thing. +0
Knew everything about Sunshine, love that game. +1
Can't remember if I've seen the Luigi Title Screen in SM64DS before, but as a kid I really played around in those menus a lot, so maybe? +0
Yeah the NSMB Secret Code is a classic, also called "Einbahnstraßenmodus" in German. +1
I had no clue the Mario Galaxy boss was supposed to be a Zelda idea. +0
NSMBWii secret is something I believe I've heard of before, but TOTALLY forgot about. +0
Never seen that King Whomp expression in my life. +0
Yea I've seen the ghost in Super Mario 3D Land before, because I loved watching "creepy secrets in Mario games" videos. +1
NSMB2 Rainbow Courses are definitely a thing I've had appear on my playthroughs a bunch of times, but I never looked up the criteria. +0
Bonus Items in NSMBU were something I got all the fucking time, even without trying, it honestly got kind of annoying at some point. lol And yes I knew the item you get is dependant on the number. +1
Knew about both of the SM3DW facts, if you use a Tanooki Twirl or Cat Scratch on the slot machine you'll hit two blocks at the same time btw. +1
Yeah I know about the Fly Minigame, I was NEVER able to beat the hard version of it for the last amiibo costume and I'm mad about it to this day. +1
I know about Remix 10 in Rhythm Heaven but I honestly never even drew the connection for Mario Run, despite having played that game more than most, tbh. +0
I THINK I've heard about the Odyssey facts, I definitely knew about the 1-Up one, but Rosalina's Observatory is so much cooler wtf +0
Heard about the Mario Maker 2 lava trick. +1
Bowser's Fury: true why do the crabs not have cat ears, I always wondered about that +1
speaking of wondering, I actually didn't know about the water crouch jump.. +0
Total Points: 13/24
Legitimately surprised I only know the Mario Maker one, neat!
I'm pretty sure most people who have played through super mario land would know about the bombshell koopas since they aren't really hidden in the levels
what's the name of the music that played when you talked about the lost levels?
hammer ro charging is actually used for the min a press tas of super mario bros. now thats the advanced version of that fact you didn't know
Very informative list! I only knew about the Super Mario 3D World ones and the NSMB DS one as well
I surprisingly knew 19/24, though I'd partially forgotten about most of them.
Neat video. I knew most of these for the games I've played. Does anyone have a more in-depth explanation of the Mario 64 one?
Mario sunshine and galaxy have a special spot in my heart ❤
I really thought this was going to be one fact that is true in every Mario game, like a fact that every Mario game shares, instead of one fact for each Mario game, and I did know about the aggressive hammer bros, I always waited to long to make my move lol
Nsmb and nsmb Wii also has a reward for matching timer digits
Last 2 digits = small house
All the digits = bigass house with op stuff
Match the 10 digit of your bonus stars, with the 10th and unit digit of your timmer. so if you have 3 star points currently timer at x00 so if the number of start points is 13, then timer X11, you will get the 1-up before the score is calculated, they are mush better way to get a 1-up so that is why that one as been overlook.
i got 16, a bit less than i was expecting but not bad :3
that nsmbw one shocked me though, that was my first mario game and first game in general i owned as a kid and ive replayed it a ton since then and ive NEVER heard of that secret room
I actually didn't know (or rather Hadn't noticed) the creepy HUMAN ghost in Mario 3D Land. Talk about nightmare fuel indeed☠️!!!!!!
Nintendo is a perfect example of enemies to friends
Lego and Nintendo competed
And now they are working together so they could make Lego Mario
(Which explains why it had 2 Mario items, the star and POW block.)
And frankly, many games featuring Mario weren't originally conceived as Mario games either like "Dr.
Mario Galaxy (2008)… the boss WAS the level.
Shadow of the Colossus (2005)… all the bosses were the levels. 🤯
I always felt like when i was changing to assist mode in Oddysey it would make a cool beat
Where's Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island??
While Miyamoto declares it a mainline game, it isn't listed on the official site
Not really a mario game. It's more of a yoshi game.
I understand why people say mario 2 isnt a mario game. But c'mon. If it wasnt for that game there would be no shy guy's, birdie am i missing anything? Those characters are iconic and still in the games to this day.
Actually In super mario3d world you can use the koopa shell function to get it in the perfect section to get infinite one ups
In Yoshi's Island (SNES) In the level select screen hold the select button and press: x,x,y,b,a for free mini games.
Also, the Mario World cartoon is fun...but both it and the Mario 3 cartoon pale in comparison to the Super Mario Brothers Super show.
I already knew from personal experience, without watching any videos, about the mini mushroom pipe in super Mario bros Wii
1:16 Bro was about to make Yume Kojo a mainline Mario game.
That ghost from super mario 3d land looks _very_ similar to the "hell valley sky tree" ghostly figures you can find in a world in super mario galaxy 2
yeah
Nintendo recognizes Mario Bros. 2 is a reskinned Dokie Dokie Panic
But which of the two is more iconic?
9:38 Fuck no ew got me laughing XD
3:25 at least there is lego super mario now. A shame the lego games haven't done anything with mario. Cool sml2 level.
I knew all of them besides the Mario Odyssey one 😅
I knew 19 of these. Guess I'm quite a Mario buff.
SMB3 is the only Mario game where you can swim in lava (if you're invincible).
Mario Odyssey secret was so cool👍
"-About EVERY Mario game"
"I got 24 games for today."
Brah what
I actually got 7:00 3 times and didn’t know how I did it
Thanks!!!
i think in second mod that when you throw chairs it was like items with the scroll wheel on your mouse
I knew:
smb
mario land 2
sunshine
nsmb wii
3d land
new Super Mario Brothers 2
nsmbu
Super Mario Maker :D
and smm2
Wonder
you missed the one in new super mario bros on the DS where you could play as luigi, that one was always my favorite as a kid
on the title screen whenever you're going into the game, hold L+R and press XYBA at the same time and you'll hear "luigi time!" or something and play as luigi
It's L+R+A on a file that has at least 1 star on it. That's in NSWB2 as well.
6:49 in NSMB wii then you get a power-up instea.... oh, you already mentioned it after
Fun fact:Gamecube's prototype name is dolphin
(Atleast thats what i remember)
