Video about getting 365 day streak in THM. Not meant to be a criticism of THM, I still like it. But I am cured of participating in any streaks on any cyber platform
I can totally relate with your experience, as I had started doing the same thing (room farming) as you. I did complete a 60 day steak and I completely lost interest from THM, I dropped it for a few months, but now I have started out again but this time not caring about streaks and just enjoying the process of learning something that I find interesting at my own convenience. Really great that you brought this thing up, I believe many others have similar experiences.
I started learning Python in the MIMO app. after 60 days or so doing Python exercises and keeping my streak going, the lessons were too hard to do passively and actually required active focus/taking notes/real learning. Did I take the opportunity to proceed with Python training as I intended? No - i switched to intro level SQL and then entry level HTML to keep the streak going. This video is 1000% right, the longer you go, the more it becomes about the continuation of the streak and the less it becomes about actual learning.
Thanks so much for leaving a comment. I keep hearing people saying similar things. These tools are good, but there is definitely a temptation to farm low level challenges to get that streak, and then at the end of the day you have a streak, but what does it mean? Thanks for watching :)
There's even a badge for 1500 days streak LOL that's complete nonsense. If anyone needs 1500 days to spend only on this one platform, then it probably means they didn't get far. Do these badges even give you anything except for having a badge? I mean like points in the ranking or anything
1500 days is just over 4 years! The badges are just badges and don't impact your rank. Technically, one could get a 1500 day badge and still have a low rank(compared to other users). I see this especially on LinkedIn, a post showing off a lengthy badge but still somehow at level 4 or 5. These folks are definitely farming. I farmed near the end of the 365 day badge and I felt guilty but my motivation had changed from learning to maintaining a streak. I quit cold turkey from THM and with all honesty never doing a streak attempt on it again and likely any other similar services. Thanks for leaving a comment!

I got my 30 day streak today lmao and i can definetely relate. I have also been farming rooms for some days and that really shouldn't be a thing.
