When it comes to heavy tools, and most other tools, i really recommend indexing the handle, with the sides of the handle pointing forward, and backward, when holding it, this gives an intuitive reading on where the striking head of the tools is facing, and makes it much easier to control. Good work though!
I didn’t expect to enjoy this one, but I really did!! Your approach was not what I expected, which is what made it fun to watch!! I will not doubt you again lol!!
Awesome job! The oak looks great in it. Was laughing picturing you showing up at the post office with it wrapped in paper and getting odd looks "Yes, I'd like to post this to America please" For smithing check out Sam Fowler's channel - bet he'd be happy to do a collaboration.
I used this video as a basis for two hammers that I made. One for my lil brother for a Wakko cosplay, and the other was a Harley Quinn mallet with a metal band. Thanks for the video, it was awesome!
Very cool I liked it just worried I am an Axe Junkie and we always worry about grain orientation on the handles we usually try to run the grain with the striking face direction
Almost sure you don’t get spalting in oak (which is a type of fungi, I think there’s too much tannin ). It looks like the stain you get when iron/steel has come in contact with the oak when it’s got wet or was green.
hola Keith,I would not like that mallet dropped on my foot, that is one well made piece of kit,im sure your customer will be more than pleased with the final result, once again well done, and a happy and prosperous new year to you and your partner.
Good video, you should consider getting a lathe. Lots about second hand and you can make use of offcuts and scrap to make tool handles and stuff. The head of the hammer would of been very easy to turn down
Great build mate, watch all of your videos but never really comment because I'm not great at stringing sentences together haha... but thank you for all the videos you have made, they have helped me so much. Have a great new year mate
Nice vid bro. Branching out already. Hope the lock up and van are working out ok for you. Hope you and your good lady had a good xmas and santa was kind to you🇬🇧🇺🇸
I do so love the smell of white oak when machining it in the shop and your hammer is worthy of the great strong man, Gendry Waters...uhm... Baratheon. Thank you for another great video and sorry for yet another bad joke.
Niiicceee!!! Turned out very beautifull and i love the idea you shaped it with planes! I would just suggest you put your logo before oil? And have you thought about burning it?😁 Great job again! Be good! Cheers
Hi Kevin - thank you! The credits are for my patrons who are supporting my channel via patreon. Some of my patron's names aren't visible on my account unfortunately so if you're a patron with an account name that's isn't your own, let me know and I'll get you added! 👍
Great job but wow, around 3.15 it looked like you were pretty close to getting your sleeve or arm in the table saw blade. Hope it was just the angle of filming.
Looks like I'm going to have to check out Alex Steel's channel! Another tidy project, love that your haul of hat and coat stands is still going strong. Have you thought about upgrading to a brand to burn your logo on, would have looked really nice with this old timey style hammer.
Yeah check it out, it's Alec by the way. I'm down to my last few hat and coat stands now! I would like a branding iron as applying the ink doesn't always go well. There's a guy in the woodwork UK Facebook group who makes them so I may contact him!
Interesting to see how you went about this. I had ideas when I saw the thumbnail for the video and was intrigued, knowing your workshop is small. Have you had many issues trying to ship it to America?
No issues so far but I don't think it has arrived yet. I had to complete some customs documentation but it was straightforward. I sent a chess set that I made over to someone else in the US and it arrived with no issues
Rag 'n' Bone Brown That's a shame it only leaves kerfing or a straight cut router bit. Of course, here many trade educators will prefer the router over the dado blade.
As usual always a good view, and of course a well made mallet, worthy of a 5☆ rating,by the way how is your move to your new home going?I sincerely hope all is going to plan for you,in the meantime take care and lots of good fortune in your future
Yeah that's fair enough though - it was worth a punt! I've had a couple of blacksmiths get in touch since posting the video which will be good for future projects hopefully!
Rag 'n' Bone Brown and I’m not trying to hate on Alec whatsoever, I think what he does is amazing and I watch almost all of his vids. That’s really cool you have people reaching out to help you out with metal working.
WOW, just WOW ! that is a serious piece of weaponry :-))))
When it comes to heavy tools, and most other tools, i really recommend indexing the handle, with the sides of the handle pointing forward, and backward, when holding it, this gives an intuitive reading on where the striking head of the tools is facing, and makes it much easier to control.
Good work though!
Wow, I would absolutely love one like that! Great job!
5:20 so satisfying!
WoW you create amazing things out of wood! I bet you create many things not only out of wood as well! Your Amazing!
Beauty. Well done.
Brilliant project, i really enjoyed that.
Thank you!
Very nice project Keith. I bet the new owner was over the moon with it. Great video mate 👍🏼👍🏼
Looks great..THOR wood be jealous👍
Great job. Looks awesome.
I didn’t expect to enjoy this one, but I really did!! Your approach was not what I expected, which is what made it fun to watch!! I will not doubt you again lol!!
Cheers!

A unique request executed perfectly. 👊👊👊
Awesome job! The oak looks great in it.
Was laughing picturing you showing up at the post office with it wrapped in paper and getting odd looks "Yes, I'd like to post this to America please"
For smithing check out Sam Fowler's channel - bet he'd be happy to do a collaboration.
Haha, I wish I'd filmed the wrapping of it actually. I had to get creative with it! I'll check out Sam Fowler - cheers!
Awesome! Hope you two can do a collaboration.
Sorry I didn't catch what you asked on the stream this morning - got a phone call just then.
Gareth Davies I'm sure Keith will appreciate your VERY kind offer lol!
now that is a head banger of a mallet, nice job
It looks fantastic, Keith.
Thank you!
Not many people get to see a video of their custom order being made... Very Cool!!
I used this video as a basis for two hammers that I made.
One for my lil brother for a Wakko cosplay, and the other was a Harley Quinn mallet with a metal band.
Thanks for the video, it was awesome!
That was a cool build Keith!
Really good Keith, great job...
WOW! Can't believe how round you managed to get the head, maily by hand! Great video Keith.
Amazing project, thanks, I always learn something new from your videos.keep em coming.
Thank you!
Love it. Great video, thanks.
It’s nice to see you grow
Mate. That was cool! I think I'll have to make one
Wow. Beautiful!,
That turned out awesome! A real baseball mallet.
You should send him also a big scoop for digging the snow away.
Love it Keith, it’s a well crafted piece of workmanship mate 👍👍👍
Great Job!
Great job mate!!!
Great job keith, I like the mallet
This is awesome Keith. You do amazing work, really great.
Thanks Constantine :-)
That thing is a beast!

You've made the absolute most out of those coat racks. Fair play mate!

Great video thanks for letting us see it
Thank you!
So cool.
Great video Keith!
Cheers!
So fun I love your videos
Cracking build mate looks epic, the thumbnail hilarious 😂
Very cool I liked it just worried I am an Axe Junkie and we always worry about grain orientation on the handles we usually try to run the grain with the striking face direction
Rag n' Bone = Throne? Great vid Man!
How has he not got 100,000 or more subscribers it’s amazing the things he can do some other wood workers on UA-cam are nothing compared to Keith
Thanks Jason very nice of you to say!
“This isn’t really necessary but looks cool” 😂 Nice one. You are stepping up your game
Thank you!
That a really cool build ! congrats on 40k as well!!
fab job keith! really loving the quality and content of your videos. It's great watching your story unfold. I see you heading to great heights!
Thank you!
You weren't wrong!
Now let’s see you do some chiseling work with it. 😂😂. Great work 👍
That would be fun to try!
Cool job that K
Thanks Scott
Almost sure you don’t get spalting in oak (which is a type of fungi, I think there’s too much tannin ). It looks like the stain you get when iron/steel has come in contact with the oak when it’s got wet or was green.
Could be! There were a few massive nails in the oak so it may have been staining from that
its hammer time
Very nice Keith! Always resourceful! Happy New Year!
Thank you Henry
Texas size mallet the way all mallets shld be! Lol
hola Keith,I would not like that mallet dropped on my foot, that is one well made piece of kit,im sure your customer will be more than pleased with the final result, once again well done, and a happy and prosperous new year to you and your partner.
Thanks Colin and Happy New Year to you
What do you do with all the shavings? Have you thought about binding them with wax and selling them as bbq/fire lighters?
Good video, you should consider getting a lathe. Lots about second hand and you can make use of offcuts and scrap to make tool handles and stuff. The head of the hammer would of been very easy to turn down
Wow when i first subbed to this channel you had about 200 subscribers well done mate
Thank you for being a long term subscriber!
You should send those shavings to Peter Brown
Great job as always.
3:16 you and that table saw, always giving me the jitters! Although I'm guessing it's more the position of the camera.
Looks great! I'd hate to drop that on my foot...
Great build mate, watch all of your videos but never really comment because I'm not great at stringing sentences together haha... but thank you for all the videos you have made, they have helped me so much. Have a great new year mate
Thanks Jack, you and me both! :-) Happy New Year!
Haha, Thank you Kieth :)
Nice vid bro. Branching out already. Hope the lock up and van are working out ok for you. Hope you and your good lady had a good xmas and santa was kind to you🇬🇧🇺🇸
Thanks Chris, all good here hope you're well too
Love this project! I'll bet the shipping costs as much as the commission. 😂
It was less than 1/3 of the cost of the mallet.... still expensive tho!!
I do so love the smell of white oak when machining it in the shop and your hammer is worthy of the great strong man, Gendry Waters...uhm... Baratheon. Thank you for another great video and sorry for yet another bad joke.
Hahaha! Thank you!
Lol love the thumbnail dude
I don't usually like being in them but thought that this one needed it to show the scale of the mallet! 👍
If you make any more and are after a UK blacksmith that'll reply to your messages... ;)
Thanks man! Have subscribed to your channel and will check out your vids - hope we can work together some day looks like you do some great stuff!
Rag 'n' Bone Brown I'm sure we can! Looking forward to it!
Niiicceee!!! Turned out very beautifull and i love the idea you shaped it with planes!
I would just suggest you put your logo before oil? And have you thought about burning it?😁
Great job again! Be good! Cheers
Good project...The thumbnail for the video is fantastic! next time, wear a kilt ;)...
Would of been much easier with a lathe ,,looks great 😁,,pristine work
I wonder if it was for Gallagher....Nice.
Finally you enter the pro league: you are now using the word "character" to describe defect in the wood, grats!! :D :D
Haha! 👍
Would be nice to see my name in credits, another great video..... Happy new year and look forward to more videos
Hi Kevin - thank you! The credits are for my patrons who are supporting my channel via patreon. Some of my patron's names aren't visible on my account unfortunately so if you're a patron with an account name that's isn't your own, let me know and I'll get you added! 👍
You are now the wood version of michaelcthulhu
PDC*
*Pretty Damn Cool.
Thanks!
I see you use the same chip collection method as me, getting the wood square is just half the battle.
I was hoping for a demonstration of the damage you can do with that thing. ;-)
I had to resist the urge to smash a melon with it!!
Great job but wow, around 3.15 it looked like you were pretty close to getting your sleeve or arm in the table saw blade. Hope it was just the angle of filming.
Nice job, but....The grain of the handle should be parallel to the head, not perpendicular. Much stronger and less likely to split.
Hi Keith,
I was wondering if you are still thinking of getting the Charnwood W629 table saw and if so it would be great to see a review
Looks like I'm going to have to check out Alex Steel's channel!
Another tidy project, love that your haul of hat and coat stands is still going strong.

Get on it! Stretch goal for a gofundme?
What do you use on your computer to do up examples ?
you put your mark on top of the BLO?
Yep and sealed with spray varnish
Interesting to see how you went about this. I had ideas when I saw the thumbnail for the video and was intrigued, knowing your workshop is small.
Have you had many issues trying to ship it to America?
No issues so far but I don't think it has arrived yet. I had to complete some customs documentation but it was straightforward. I sent a chess set that I made over to someone else in the US and it arrived with no issues
I would recommend you purchase a stackable dado blade for your table saw.
They don't sell dado blades in the UK- safety regulations.
We're not allowed to use them!
Thanks Colin!
Love this!!! Are u selling them?
Keith, how much more of that wood do you have remaining from those hat and coat stands. Seriously mate, they have been used in everything! 😂
Quite a bit left actually!
How much did that cost to ship I wonder?
Another great project.. Alex Steele far too important now I'm sure he blanked some other maker on UA-cam after he made Alex a stool
Hate to say but Alec is way too big now to do projects like this to help you out.
Really sweet project and I might wanna build one of these next!
What size chisel goes with this mallet ?.
Everybody Gangsta till he gives this to a Mouse
Is there a reason why you didn't round the head before you attached the handle? Wouldn't that have been easier?
It wasn't difficult with the handle on
