Only real musicians understand how amazing this is. Music is Communication, it doesn't matter if the words you are using are complex or simple, what matters is HOW you say it. This guy is straight up poetic on the drums, but I'm not going to lie, I used to think this was just simple shit, but after studying music more thoroughly -- jazz, funk, dynamics, and technique it became clear to me why this guy is such a renowned player.

Exactly. One of the things that I don't think that I noted is that drummers like Steve have MASTERED pocket playing. Take any young cat (like myself), and we may be able to groove, but we are going to make mistakes. A drummer of Steve's experience can make a groove go for HOURS and NEVER make a mistake. That's what we all want to aspire to. That's what a real drummer does.

Keeping the OLD School grooves alive with Steve Jordan. He's done his homework and brings it to every song he plays. That's what it takes to survive in the world of drumming.

Found this again....watched like 35 times. Again. Sheesh. Yall it the swing in his foot, so laid on the backside of the beat, its mesmerizing. One of my lifelong favorites, this guy. Ninja level grooves. I could drive an f150 right down the middle of the backbeats its so wide. Steve Jordan if you this , props man. You changed the way I played and approached the drums years ago. I thank you sir! I'm a better musician from the change. #groovemachine #myfavoritepocketplayer
