That's pretty neat. The audio output sounds like it has a distorted human voice quality to it. Kinda creepy lol
Listening to the quadcopter has been the best way for me to tune.
Thanks for the shout out!
use a microphone in reverse polarity to filter the gyro data
@@marc_frank xD Great idea
I never even knew about BlackboxSticksExporter, will definately check that out. These open-source vids are amazing.
Great way to show what we all know about noise, very helpful!
Super interesting! I used to tune just by listening to the motors until I got smart and started using black box recently. Thanks for all of the info!
Fortnight Videos!
Interesting tool. Great video Mark👍
I can only say thank you very much. Always very helpful!
Amazing, all these low res digitized waves sounded like the digitized sound on the commodore 64 . Great video as usual
Love it sounds like zombie throat singing. Just in time for halloween.
Informative as always.
Sounds like alien trying to communicate
Genuinely amazing and I guess it will help me explain this stuff to less tech savy people! Thanks
Awesome, thanks for sharing.
SPRacingF7DUAL and SPRacingH7EXTREME have had the PID-Audio feature built in for a while now; with it you can listen to the quad's PID output WHILE YOU ARE FLYING. Just wire the audio output from the FC to your VTX's audio-in, enable PID audio and connect headphones to your goggles. They also feature a microphone too, so you can balance PID-Audio output with microphone input.
I seriously love this amount of detail! Just wish you would slow down a tad on the technical bits a tiny bit. Love you dude 👍👍
I know right? He is a knowledge machine and it's hard keeping up sometimes! Thank goodness I can tap my arrow key and skip backward 😁
You could always just adjust the YT playback speed to 0.75 or 0.5 if it's too fast to keep up 😉
Really, really interesting! 😃
It's pretty impressive that the unfiltered sound correlates very well to the motor itself.
Great video, Mark! Thanks! 😊
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Boom like #100. ;).
Good stuff man thx 🙏
This actually is really cool, and works. I took my new Flywoo Explorer LR analog, turn on overclocking to 108mhz, like my other 411's is default, since 4.2. then installed blheli_M, the noise before was 715 FFT at the end of a flight. once enabling RPM filtering 0/200/90/350, left the filters at the default 1.3x. The FFT after flight is now 412 almost half. The best part is if i Load i log into this program, i can 100% hear the difference on the 2 different Logs. Without then with Bi Direction Dshot. Pretty feakin cool, kinda makes sense cause the noise is a hz frequency.
Awesome! nice to know that it serves its purpose :D
Great video.....
Do you look at peoples explorer logs? My mind has just melted.
Wow I'm first at something haha love ya work mate
Thanks info
Since we are talking about noise Recently I go to know about new Rush Fpv Power Filter Board whose main aim is to replace Capacitor on our esc.. it claims very low esr rating and has tantalum capacitor instead of electrolytic capacitor.. and can be installed on other esc as well but I guess nobody is talking about it but you being from a enginnering background might understand how is it and explain it to us because I see that particular product can bring change to how we deal with capacitor and yes I'm not sponsored by them 😅
Hi thank you for the education.
Question if you can help. 5inch drone when battery full in air and punch out for exceration there is wobble or oscillation. As voltage goes down it goes away. 5s in question flies great in 4s also flies 10000 times better since watching 2 battery tune. Hope you can help I thank you again for your videos. Ps I’m using the sliders 4.2.8. Bl32. Hglrc f760 stack.
This is a wonderful idea!!!!!! I have been into quad copters for almost 2 years now. I have been studying black box & how to read it for a while.
I’m going to give this a try on my new GepRC Mark 4 6S sbus version.
I’d like to see what a properly built brand new quad copter looks like or sounds like I should say.
Thanks for the awesome videos Mark keep them coming please 🙏🏻
Also could you do this again but with your best quad copter or should I say your quietest quad copter what a quad copter should look like on the sound meter. let’s say what we would want our quad copter’s to look and sound like on the graph.
I’d love to see what a quiet copter looks like on the sound meter.
Can do!
@@uavtech awesome 👏. If we’re talking about your next video I’d have a few suggestions me being a new quad pilot. I’d suggest showing a good copter on the meter a bad quad copter as well.
Then I’d want to see how to make adjustments to attenuate the vibrations/sound on the problem axis.
Sounds like we just thought of your next video possibly?? I’d love to see it thanks again for all your help you respond so fast it doesn’t matter how old your video, amazing simply amazing job.
@@uavtech I have a question I can only trust you on this! I’m preparing to flash my ESC GepRC Mark 4 6S Sbus version. The ESC is BL Halle S 45 amp Dshot 600. My question is should I use the JESC or the JAZZ software? I don’t want to run into any trouble and I’m not too worried about paying a couple dollars if it’s going to save me any problems. But I would use the JAZZ software if it just as good ??????
What are your thoughts I guess there’s a better way to hit you up about this stuff ha ha LOL
Thank you for the great video.
Can I make a suggestion and make a video on how to tune based on the size of the battery? For example, what would be the differences when tuning an EMAX TinyHawk S fir a 1S and a 2S?
I reckon the change would be fairly minor, but there would be some. Best advice is this video: ua-cam.com/video/hgLUX5uWaNI/v-deo.html
Sounds interesting 😂
What's the fastest an f411 processor can log? 1.5k seemed just fine on betaflight 4.2.3... You're logging at 2k just fine on an f405... Is it just log size to be concerned about now?
thanks... something new )
Nice! Sounds like the FFT looks...
Cries in Infinity FC with no blackbox chip :) I probably need to solder it manually as I sometimes miss the blackbox traces :)
Just tried this and it works well you can hear the motors in unfiltered but when listening to the filtered gyro prop wash sounds like wind
I tried this out, but I habe an issue or a question: I notice a ticking sound every 0.5s in the filtered gyro or so, that is not there in the unfiltered one. Even more interesting bc I have turned off all gyro filter but the rpm filter. Do you habe any idea mark? I can send a log if you want...
If NASA says they get wave or alien try to communicate, maybe they will looking for gyro sound unfiltered .. (justkidding)
Hey there UAV Tech, watched lot of your vids about blackbox, im having an issue where i watched the balckbox logs, after settings up the filters and such in betaflight 4.2 there is still a huge spike in noise "max motor noise" at around 420hz, how can i get rid of it? or what im i doing wrong? also my motors have huge auxelations when my throttle raises to about 30% throttle, do you have a video that explains such probblems and how to tune it right?
thank you
Do you have RPM filter setup and still have the Dynamic Notch enabled? Set DN max to 500 in your case and see if it helps.
@@uavtech ok i will try that, rpm filter is enabled and max dynamic notch was at 350, ill set it to 500 and see if it helps. Thank you
@uav tech for a frame that has a lot of "noise" do i use the betaflight default dynamic notch filter setting or do i use the dynamic notch filter setting you recommended on BF 4.2?
I would get RPM filtering working so the Dynamic Notch is free to jump on peaks. Just do the RPM filter setup for 4.2 with the associated Dyn Notch settings.
@@uavtech thanks you.
It's alive!!! IT'S ALIVE!!!!!
Wasn’t there an FC a while back that let you tune by sound _real time_? Like you could listen to gyro sound through your audio channel?
Yep, SPracingF7 and I think H7 does it as well. Not positive about the H7.
As a music maker and somebody who's done a lot of sound design, it sounds like filtered out sounds used in dubstep lol
hey something i dont understand is what is the direct result of flying a noisy quad? will it destroy your gyro? or is it just something that can effect the performance of flight; if so is it something that can be left untouched. The reason im asking is because the topic of gyro noise is spoken quite less often in the fpv community.
It limits your flight performance because it will then need more software filtering and lower PID gains. Both add delay for the quad to auto-correct for prop was performance etc...
any way to run this on mac os?
Would be cool to look at older/different firmwares to compare. Older is better from what I hear :)
No. That is FPV Flat Earth "science".
FaceBook University gets it wrong way too many times.
@@uavtech I was reading the comments on probably the biggest perpetrator of that thought process he had said "it has the feeling of a lot of latency" and you commented " because it does, alot!!! "
Great app! Just noticed that pitch and roll are tuned well, but showing more noise on Yaw access. Any idea what the cause may be?
All were Roll. Unfiltered --> Filtered --> D-term.
@@uavtech sorry, I should have been more specific. I was referring to my own log.
Hey Mark, hope your Halloween is going well. I can't find anything on (pidsum_limit) what exactly is this setting on your preset page? Thanks for any help
By default, the PID Sum is capped at 500 (50%) output. You rarely go above 50%, but it can occur so we want to remove that cap so it is out of the way. You can look at your PID Sum in Blackbox. It is the sum of your P.I.&D terms added together. That is the PID command to the Mixer. The Mixer then tells the quad what motors need to spin up to hit the desired PID Sum commands for Roll, Pitch and Yaw.
The bigger the quad, the higher the PID Sum limit will need to be. For 5" and above, we move up to 100% so we don't restrict the PID commands in any way.
@@uavtech thanks so much for explaining this to me! This without a doubt fixed this bounce back I couldn't stop no matter my pids. This fixed 5 of my light weight freestyle / racing quads. Extremely grateful to you! Wish you and your family well
@@uavtech what would ever be the benefit of putting a cap on the pidsum? Seems like an extreme limitation
I think it is really old, and noone removed yet. Idk. I struggle to think of a reason. Especially since I-Term has a limit as well so it can only wind up so far.
@@uavtech I'm mostly a line of site pilot. I spend most of my time below 50% throttle. When you have a really light powerful craft leaving this pidsum stock 50% really makes it impossible to stop a nasty bounce back, especially with a fresh 6s 1050 battery. I fought with it for a year with pids all over. Up down and everywhere in between. I then watched your video on RC signal and FF jitters. So I updated all my radios and turned off ADC. Still no improvement. It was a little better running low FF values. Now I can raise my pids back up run higher FF values without issue. This pidsum was absolutely the answer. I've never heard of it before learning from you. I think it's one of the best tweaks from stock BF that I've ever learned. Thanks again!
We hear a lot of high frequency noise and harmonics in this sample, and looking at a frequency analysis, that is all down from the important stuff.. what's below 200Hz. I would love to see some compensation for human hearing... And maybe some low pass filtering of the audio so you can focus on what's important to the quad, rather than what's important to humans...
You can't really hear the frequencies important to the quad (sub-80hz stuff).
No video about ExpressLRS?
Working on it. More technical.
I this noisy gyro the result of bad tuning or bad hardware?
Hardware
@@uavtech thank you for the answer, I got some bad oscillations around 200Hz with some modulation and now I know where to search for it
Sounds like the voice from Papers, Please. 🤣
Damn dude, this is getting complicated. Quality stuff but here I was hoping for a release of "Pid-tuning for dummies.... explained" ;)
You want this video: ua-cam.com/video/hgLUX5uWaNI/v-deo.html
@@uavtech My goto video 👍🏻
d-term, what a jerk. amplifying my noise.
Also, can we get betaflight to overwrite blackbox so on a 16MB flash we at least always have the last minute of the last flight?
That would be ideal. I not sure how that can be coded.
can we use our gyro data to smooth out our video?
Not that I know of. But that is what ReelStead does with the GoPro built in Gyro.
@@uavtech Certainly seems like a good use for that data for people who don't use GoPros.
@@slinkyfpv probably an idea for a new project xD
It sounds like throat singing.
when i play the file nothing happen, what i do wrong ?
Unknown. Does the log have Gyro_Scaled debug recorded?
@@uavtech I checked for several log files from different People. In any case is same problem. I will check again.
@@TheTomeksup If the problem still isnt fixed, please raise a new issue on the github page and upload the log
Damn sound like a devil calling you, Mark. :-P
I've one doubt These gyro signals are going to flight controller then how is it creating a sound
Because it is the same vibration as sound. The software is just playing the gyro signal; that's all.
7:09 OMG sounds like it's possessed, creepy af
LOL - this coming from a "George Romero" 😂
@@sunsetpark_fpv true story
