I have watched and admired everything you have done...Despite all the odds YOU got the Hour Record, deserved beyond belief. That was the preserve of the elite of professional cyclists...Till Graeme Obree came along!!! With a lot of guts, hard work, lateral thinking and of course the usual Obree hating officials...YOU overcame all this...With a superb attitude like you have, you will conquer anything you put your mind to...You are welcome at my Dinner table anytime...Thanks a million...stapes...
It is funny that his reasoning about head first vs feet first, even though it is not completely right, makes a lot of sense and, several years after this interview, this is proved by the fact that the fastest "bike" on the hour (Russo's Metastretto) is a recumbent but it is one in which the rider goes head first ("in reverse"). Really a visionary this man...
Still using bits and pieces which look as though they came off the Ayr bypass? I worked in the area for a few months a couple of years ago and it's one of the cleanest roads I have ever cycled. I have worked with engineers with all the formal qualifications and the kudos of working for large multinational companies and I don't think I have come across even one with such a level of engineering genius. Graeme could have completed the engineering degree he started at Glasgow University, gone to work at BAE Systems at Prestwick, and never cycled competitively outside Scotland or earned any money from his sport. But instead we have this. Less than 9 1/2 minutes and I have seen more practical engineering than all week at my day job. Learned how to fill in a new form though!!!
Good Sir . . . your beastie bike . . . . WOW ! how nice is that . . . however . . . my Super Scorpion didn't reach the impressive 130 miles per hour . . . until we put a 26" wheel at the rear . . . your bike go fast . . . with its current design . . . but put a large wheel at the rear . . . and your bike won't argue when you ask it to climb the speed ladder . . . it won't run out of energy.

Keep going Graeme. I'm looking forward to seeing this bike run in anger.
Awesome logic , true champion .

never happened.
It did: In May 2012 he set the prone bike record. It had already happened when you post your comment six years ago...
