PLOT: In an adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s seminal novel The Price of Salt, "Carol" follows two women from very different backgrounds who find themselves in an unexpected love affair in 1950s New York. As conventional norms of the time challenge their undeniable attraction, an honest story emerges to reveal the resilience of the heart in the face of change. A young woman in her 20s, Therese Belivet, is a clerk working in a Manhattan department store and dreaming of a more fulfilling life when she meets Carol, an alluring woman trapped in a loveless, convenient marriage. As an immediate connection sparks between them, the innocence of their first encounter dims and their connection deepens. While Carol breaks free from the confines of marriage, her husband begins to question her competence as a mother as her involvement with Therese and close relationship with her best friend Abby come to light.

It was very interesting what she said about the character of Carol in the movie vs Carol in the book. And Carol in the movie was both way more developed and also more sympathetic. Some of that no doubt was the script, but a ton of it was because Cate Blanchett is such a good actress.
A lot of alcohol is drunk in the book, always and everywhere. This is not expressed in the film.

I noticed that Cates newly adopted baby daughter is middle named Patricia, also Rooney used that name once! I really hope its not coincident!!!!😍😍😍 Rooney loves her and its easy to see, but maybe shes not allowed to push it furrther under circumstances… thats why i sometimes feel sad for actors and actresses, on one hand they experience more and ordanary people but once the casting finished they need to cut their feeling and move forward. how could one survive the emotional loss if her dream once came true yet would be gone so quickly. seriously its better never than ever 😣
