Thanks for the nice review. What bortle sky did you test the SHO filters?

This was a great review! What bortle reading sky were you in when you took the filter images that you show in the UA-cam video? And also was the moon out or not? I’m just wondering if I need to look at even narrower band filters for a bortle five zone.

Nice Review Ruiz! Looks Like a Great Set Of Filters, all In one!

Nice rundown on the filters. I have the 2" Optolong Ha, SII and OIII filters an have found them to be excellent for the price. I was quite worried about the possibility of halos before purchasing them as I have both the L-eNhance and L-eXtreme filters and they suffer quite badly from halos but as you stated, there is no issue with halos with the Ha, SII and OIII set.

Thanks Logan for the information! I am about to buy them too:)
      Cheers !

What LRGB filters do you use, if I may ask ?

@@AstroB7 I have the Baader LRGB filters. Was trying to get the Baader HSO filters but they weren’t available at the time but very happy with getting the Optolong narrowband ones instead.

@@LogansAstro Cool, thank you! Do you think Optolong's LRGB 2" could be good ? I want those. I think the only thing that changes is the parfocal and maybe the contrast, but i want your opinion. :)

@@AstroB7 I would hope they would be fine given that the SHO ones are good (for the price). But filters can be very hit and miss, even in the same brand so without having tried the Optolong LRGB, I’m probably not qualified to comment on those (especially since the Optolong L-eNhance and L-eXtreme have quite bad halos.). Perhaps google some reviews on the LRGB ones

I have the Asi533 but when I do go to upgrade to mono I’ll certainly be looking back on this video 😊

Thanks for the review! May I ask, What's your take on the 183 mono camera?

Great review, Ruiz. I'm in the market for new narrowband filters so I will give them a study

I use all chroma filters. 31mm unmounted. All 3nm for the narrowband except 5nm for HA. $500 a piece. And I think the LRGB set is also $500. They are good filters for sure. They are literally worth more than gold by weight. With light pollution and even the full moon they are a game changer. I imaged the Pleiades, Andromeda and Triangulum with no additional light pollution filter under bortle 6 in LRGB. I used the asi294MM in bin2 and the pictures came out way better than my first attempts using a dslr. I thought I needed an lp filter for my skies, but it really just needed better equipment for broadband. The results looked looked very much like it was from a darker location. As far a narrowband goes, well that’s obvious as one would expect. Simply amazing. Actually I can do a 4min sub with the 3nm s2 filter on the Orion Nebula and the core won’t be blown out at all. Mono gives a ton a control so whatever filters are used, the only real downside might be halos. None of the chroma suffer that, but they are not parafocal either. The narrowband ones are almost parafocal with only a very slight focus offset on one. Could almost get away without refocusing, but personally I like as much perfection during acquisition as I can get. The one negative a can say is that LRGB is a pain. Very difficult to get even color distribution. Cooled Osc would be a better choice really for broadband. LRGB mono helps slightly under light polluted skies, but it’s hardly worth the effort. It was nice to add ha to the galaxies though.

An important thing with setting up a filter wheel, which doesn't seem a problem with a mix like this, is the filters match in thickness, otherwise it should probably affect backfocus.

I got a set of Optolong LRGBSHO filters , all works fine except the Oiii filter. It has halos for some bright stars.

Nice Review Ruz....... 2022 might be my year for attempting mono........but well see. Although the OSC approach does make it easier, and the Baader UHC-S works well with it.

Hey, great video! I just bought this filter set but in 2”. And i have a EAF
But how do you take flat frames?

    1. Optolong LRGB Introduction
Optolong LRGB filter set is designed for maximum contrast and with extremely high gradients for clear differentiation of colors. The LRGB filter set divides the spectrum into its components red, green, blue and luminance.
OIII emission overlaps on blue and green filters with maximum transmission to allow high efficiency and natural color imaging. Gap between green and red filters serves to block out the primary Sodium light pollution line at 589nm and improves color balance and separation.

The one and only filter according to OPT is the Icarus filter to shoot in daylight. But, cannot find anyone using one? Wonder why?

Think I'll be getting these for my 183MM to get me started. Chroma as little pricey to start out with !

Nice review but way out of my budget so I'll be sticking with OSC for quite a while yet.

There website shows RGB being parfocal and my set is, I shot LRGB and not needed to change focus, they are OK as a filter set.

Interesting then. I certainly noticed mine requiring refocusing even between the broadband set.
