    For me personally, this one video taught me more about how to paint subs then anything else I've seen on the net. Simply stunning. Thanks for sharing such great talent.

      Many thanks again, this kind of comment is a reward for me 👍 🙏 That's not intended as I have no pretensions, but it's good to know that some people learn from my video 🙂

    Fantastic! Using the screen for the SHT was brilliant! Love the grass skirt effect also. Served on 88’s and Sturgeons, love this!

    I enjoy watching your videos. Especially your submarine builds. I kindly ask that you advise as to how you build your dry dock blocks. Thank you for your help.

      Many thanks for your interest 🙏 I'm really glad you enjoy watching my videos, it's kind of a reward when I read that 🙂 I'll make a dedicated video about my sub's display stands, it's very easy to do and doesn't take so much ressources and time 😉 Many thanks again for following me !

    Enjoyed your submarine videos! My main two challenges before starting on my sub projects is finding a way to replicate the 'brick pattern' insulation rubber tiles, and trying to find anything on painting the controllable-pitch propellers on these naval ships that match the copper alloy in real life (unfortunately G-Factor Models doesn't make the accentuate brass propellers for LA fast attack submarine model kits).

    • @ghkmodels
      @ghkmodels  Рік тому

      I couldn't find a good pattern for tiles... It might be possible by creating an original photo etched grid I think 🧐 For your painting issue, maybe you can mix differents metallic colours ?

    The coating on 688i boats IRL looks more like a brick pattern than a grid pattern. Next time you might want to use a brick stencil rather than a screen

    • @ghkmodels
      @ghkmodels  Рік тому

      That's totally right ! But I felt to find the good pattern in my stash... sorry 🤗 Thans for your interest and comments 🙂

      @@ghkmodels I don't relish criticism so I'm not really but one correction you may want to make is Greenville had a shrouded propeller. If you can't find a picture, an American Navy shrouded submarine propeller or "screw" is all brass throughout, the shroud isn't black like the Russian ones. 👩‍🔧
      Edit: American submarine screw shrouds are also extremely thin, only little wider than the propeller itself. Keep it real 👍

    It's pretty, I would like mine to brand new though, do have a video for that paint job?

    • @ghkmodels
      @ghkmodels  10 місяців тому

      Forget the weathering and keep the basic paint 😉 Have a look on pics of real subs, they're always some shades of black/grey, never a uniform black, even new. Hope this helps, sorry for the delay to answer your question 🫣 Thanks for your interest !

    Not criticism, but want to point out that one way to add something to these fairly plain models like submarines is to add details like open hatches, a lowered outboard motor, lower the anchor down some. Want to go nuts? - cut off the Sonar cover and build the Sonar equipment behind it, there are photos online.
    👩‍🔧

      I thought about representing sonars, it could be a cool thing as you said, but not on every models ! 😉 Thanks for the suggestion 👍

      @ghkmodels  Рік тому +1

      No fit problems, as the demarcation between black and red is on the joint 😉👌 Many thanks for your interest and comment 🙂

      They don't put the hull number on US subs anymore

    • @ghkmodels
      @ghkmodels  Рік тому +1

      Good point, thanks for answering, no more hull number on US subs. France recently did the same for some of our ships... Thanks for interest ! 🙂

      In port US Navy submarines are identified by their "brow banner" that is zip tied to the walkway or "brow" railing. For crew photos the front line holds the brow banner at waist hight in front of them. 👩‍🔧

      There are exceptions made for change of command ceremonies, first launching, and the decommissioning ceremony, then the hull number is placed on the "Sail." Otherwise, during normal operations it's like they said. 👩‍🔧
