I have always wanted to do this anytime I am at the coast (Oregon). It's a seemingly primal natural urge to dig creeks and channels to make waters meet, or simply add channels to existing rivers. And my god is it so primally satisfying to watch the results of it like this!
"tannic water from the surrounding pine trees" That's also why the Suwannee River is brown. We lived in NW Florida for 22 years. A short walk to the Suwannee and a nice drive to the Panhandle. Long ago we discovered there are less people up around Mexico Beach. Back home where we came from, there's also a small river from a swamp area called the Dead River in Illinois Beach State park that we used to carefully cross to go farther beyond the park to enjoy the beach alone. At times, that little river was so swift a smart person wouldn't cross it.
@@30A What Zenas is getting at is, in the thumbnail you show a fly-over view of a dark looking river held back by a sand-bar. On the thumbnail are the words "Watch This Lake Breach Into The Gulf" which suggests that the video is going to show footage of that dark water breaching the sand-bar and flowing into the sea. Which would show the contrast of the dark water mixing with the blue sea "Where The River Meets The Sea" but you don't even show what is advertised on the thumbnail. Instead you show a ground view of a breach already in progress minus the ACTUAL breach. I too got drawn in by the thumbnail thinking I was going to see the footage shown in the thumbnail. So like Zenas, I was disappointed to find out none of the footage is in the video..
One time me and my dad dug a trench to watch the water trickle into the sea, and after about ten minutes we filled the ditch in as to not let the water flow out any more. We came back the next morning to find the tide had reopened the trench. We were mortified watching the entire lake draining into the ocean.
No! It’s brackish water which is a mix of saltwater and fresh. It fills up in our coastal dune lakes then mixes with the saltwater in the gulf from time to time. The brown color comes from the tannic in the water.
Coastal lagoons like that one are nurseries for many fish. If the creek doesn't occasionally breach the sandbar, those fish can't get out into the ocean when they are ready to. Also, the lagoon is not really fresh water. You can see from the marks on the sand that the waves flow over the sandbar at high tide and carry salt water into the lagoon. It is probably brackish water at best.

Your thumb nail says "watch this lake breech into the gulf." What we really get is "watch this river flow into the golf."
We are sorry you feel that way! Our local dune lakes empty out into the gulf which is a beautiful site to see.
*bait and *gulf.

They were using a fisheye lense 🌍
@@mrsstaff7876 nah, fisheye lense causes curvature distortion.
@@timothybax3089 That’s because the lense distorted it so it looks flat. It works both ways you know 🌍
