Most 80's bands these days sound like covers of themselves. Tears for Fears remains authentic and their music has aged very well, like themselves. Amazing!!

Authentic? Totally rips off Matthew and Son by Cat Stevens. Not at all authentic and zero originality. Also the singer has a dreadful voice, luckily for them, bad singing was fashionable in the Eighties.

@Quinceps maybe, I'm not an expert but I've seen groups from 80s sing and there's a BIG difference, they have to improvise with their aged voices but still do great, whereas this is no different from when I put on the original, sound for sound, syllable for syllable but like I say, I can't say for sure

Pleasantly surprised to see them performing the song true to the original. When I saw them in the 2000s, they went with the Gary Jules version: slower, acoustic and less '80s.' That didn't surprise me (especially since the cover charted higher and is no doubt perceived as more timeless), but I prefer the original. I assumed that they'd stuck with the slower/modernised version, so it's nice to hear that they returned to the 80s classic.

Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for the daily races

Their tears are filling up their glasses

    No tomorrow, no tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you

    Mad world, mad world
Children waiting for the day they feel good
    Happy birthday, happy birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
"Hello, teacher! Tell me, what's my lesson?"
Look right through me, look right through me

We're bombarded with tons and tons of today's rubbish music. 2022 is the return of true music from true musicians. Tears For Fears welcome back!

      Great bands are out there.
Unfortunately the new music industry won't throw the best into your plate. Start with Larkin Poe and Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown.
Good luck. Big Tears for Fears fan.
But some old rockers are lazy rehashing tired material. ie: 50 year old re-releases.

@@frankboyd. I think you miss a point. The way music is arranged nowadays is completely different to former decades. Young people don't like old music because they're not used to listen to that type of sound and of course they want to hear their "own" music and artists but not what daddy was listening to. Older people miss the old sound and arrangements and it doesn't matter how talented new musicians are, they simply have a different point of view how a song has to be made. Compare "Everybody wants to rule the world" with any nowadays charts songs. Boomers miss that sound and it doesn't matter how talented new musicians are. But to be honest I also miss artists like Queen, Dire Straits, Tears for Fears, The Police, Kate Bush, Fleetwood Mac, Prince etc. in music charts. They mostly produced their songs by themselves. Today 10 music producers do it for most of the nowadays popmusicians. That's why songs arrangements are pretty the same. A modern pop song boomers like was "Blinding Lights by the Weeknd"
      Guess why...
