Carving An Apex Predator Sabertooth tiger

- Carving an animal like this was a big challenge and i early on decided to have the teeth and tongue separate from the rest and also in a different type of wood.
Will this be the video that takes me to 100k subscribers? I am not sure, but if it is not i will keep trying untill i get there! :)
Thank you all for the support! I have had days during this project where my motivation was running low, but many times when i felt this a single comment or message has turned the tide around. It is unbelievable how many great peeple there are out there.
I also plan to make an investment in some camera equipment and a better microphone. I feel like the iphone 6 i am using is doing a pretty good job, but it does tend to over expose the scene with light at times.

You are amazing. As one of your biggest fans, watching you take a project from sketch up to finish, is something I look forward to.
Props on the amazing carving! I agree with what you say about the uncertainty of how the final product might come out, but then being surprised by the outcome. It's definitely a great feeling working on something that is way out of one's comfort zone and having the result look good. it takes a lot of patience to not get frustrated when something goes south. Keep up the good work!
Thank you! yeah it is a rollercoaster ride to do a project like this. I must admit that i have had a few failed projects i havent finished because i messed up the start
Great piece Jonas..like the contrasting teeth 👍
Thank you Andy :D
Your work is a great inspiration ! I can't imagine how much talent and practice is needed to create such a sculpture with your hands
Woow, this is fantastic Jonas, I can't wait to see what else you make. Keep it up man you're doing awesome ✌🏼
Great vid :D
It's not until I tried powercarving myself that I realised how good you are x)
Not only that you are a good wood carver but your an AMAZING drawler (I look up to you from now on-)
After watching your new wolf sculpt I just had to watch more of your work! you are amazing at this type of art keep it up!.
First off, love your work! This peice looks awesome! You don't think you could try making a D&D monster, like a Beholder? Might be a little complicated but it would had been pretty neat to see!
Не верю, я смотрел видео от начало до конца, и всё ровно не верю что такую красоту можно создать руками. Очень красиво.
Wow fanfreakingtastic job, great to see how other carvers make their way through the wood to a finished piece. I will watch for more of your work.
Yey! Finally! Great job.
*What a beautiful companion!!😱😱😱. With this project you have secured the 100 ... subscribers*
I know you. You are also a genius
Thank you! ye man! this has to be the one :D
Beautiful work and great video! I always have hesitation when I start a new carving. I am more comfortable with stuff I do often but there is a bear on my bench right now that has me nervous. Just have to dive in!
Amazed from not only that wonderful carving, but that sense of perfection, you are not only a gifted carving expert, but also great in drawing.
I can draw that front elevation and side projection, but I would take hours or even a day to make it perfect like that.
Watching this makes me want to take my clay and make something wonderful. I have no experience in wood carving. I really love your videos, keep up the good work.
Thats so good!!!
Well done man!!
This is awesome! I love how you experiment the way you do but do it with pure logic and it works out so perfectly! I'd love to achieve this one day, given that i have the proper tools and all. Love your work!
Thank you so much :)
Love your contents. Always humble, simple yet nicely executed. Keep it up, it's going to work for you!
Absolutely beautiful work!
Reminds me of some of the things my grandfather made. Amazing woodworker but that eventually faded after a stroke but I'll be damned if he doesn't try
Man....I wish I had a fraction of your talent sir....amazing!
Thank you! :)
It's a masterpiece! You did an amazing job😁 ur very inspirational for us beginner woodworkers 👏
Thank you so much! means a lot that you let me know that!

That is awesome. It looked so good and then the stain went on! And then the Danish oil went on!!
And then the teeth and tongue went on!!!!!
I am very impressed!
It just kept getting better!
Top shelf dude!!!
Amazing Sculpture Jonas!! I love it!
I can relate to the experimenting and learning as you go along. I do the same thing. My problem is, a lot of times I don't remember how I came to the final result on something and I have to experiment all over again if I try to make a duplicate.
Keep up the great work. I look forward to seeing more.
Thank you! Yeah it is a journey! I guess the best thing to do is to get to know the uncertainty and befriend it :)
This is amazing!!! I absolutely love it! I can't to wait to see what else you may do!
Thank you! :D
AMAZING because of you I started to carve and I really enjoy it your videos have a crazy quality and your finished products are just beautiful

I like the smaugs eye myself and it is sold to USA. But i am happy i did that because the customers where such great people!
Those theeth: "Om nom nom nom nom nom nom". Dude like this is wicked! Trebuches, Sabertooths...keep them coming :D

You'r the best!!!👌👍
Absolutely stunning. Excellent craftsmanship and skill. Cant wait to see what's next.! Cheers!
I totally feel the same, dude! The stuff I make, while not phenomenal is still better than I expect nearly every time!
yeah! Maybe that feeling is a must have to achieve something like this?
Yaaaaay you answered me! I'm happy now!
Jonas you are incredibly talented I’m very impressed and I’ve been wanting to try craving for a while now and find your work very inspiring. I’m not sure what amazes me more how good it is or the fact that there are people who actually dislike this video?? Keep it up mate you’re brilliant 👍🏻 👊🏼
Thank you so much :)
Замечательно выполнено ! Супер !
Да!!!Супер!!!
I love how it looks almost iridescent as you turn it back and forth!
oh, a few years ago I got tired of fighting with my dremel and flex shaft so I built an articulated mount for it that made my life much easier, I made an instructable of it under the user name sixsmith, the instructable is title Articulated Rotary Tool Stand (ARTS).
Thank you! yeah i should try to find a better solution for the dremel
dscrive do.

From your imagination to a sketch to reality. Wow how real the saber tooth tiger looked. You have incredible talent.
Dude this came out so cool!! I love the contrasting wood colour too. 😊
Thank you! :D
Cool, I really liked it!
I haven't had the balls yet to go full 3D with my carvings haha :D nice to hear that you aren't sure what you are doing lol, I will give it a go!
Thank you for sharing your techniques Jonas - such beautiful work!
Great job bro! I like your idea how to make tooth and tongue. I thout for a long time about that problem. You"ve show us like real dentist. Thank you for your channel and for your work!
Thank you :)
I would not mind longer vids. I know alot of people try to keep to the 10 min mark. But its much more fun to see more in depth vids. Great stuff as usual though!
Hey i totally see your point. I am debating what i should include or not every time i make one. A lot of the elements has kind of a very similar approach so i try to balanse it, but that balanse is hard to perfect :)
I Appreciate the feedback. It makes me concider how i am going to approach my next project
@@Jonasolsenwoodcraft AN IDEA FORMS! What about you make longer editions for patreon? Just wait untill I get my first paycheck so I can join!
Wow that was so cool watching your carve this.
I love the dark and light of the wood as you turned it. Great effect.
Thank you! yeah it gave it a cool effect!
Bravo! The carving and your reference drawings are absolutely amazing! Well done! 💖😱
Thank you!
It is fricen awesome the way the face is nearly black from the front and as it turns it pops to this bright yellow that is the coolest all natural effect I have ever seen you didn’t have to do anything other than wood chosen and placement within the piece of wood very well done 👍
Thank you! i was going for that effect, but i did not expect it to be that good :)
Very nice work, love the tiger and thanks much for the video
Thank you so much!
อ.นอด
very beautiful Your hands is gold
You are a fantastic artist my friend! I learn a lot from you!
Thank you! :)
wow this is so cool!! You carved like real !
I am gonna love your carving
That’s awesome I would have left the rectangle price in the back and slimmed it down a bit and used it as a truck hitch accessory
Awesome as usual Jonas, in the last year I've been playing with bass wood doing some faces, not very good ones at that lol, would be cool to see your take on an old man, long beard, wizard looking guy.
You are unbelieveably talented. Really fun to watch!
Thank you! that is good to hear :)
Wow these are incredible. I would love to have one for myself! Im willing to pay too. ;)
magnífico, really like it
I love seeing how you first draw a design from two angles and actually use it. When I make my pendants, I generally just freehand it. But you can truly draw very cool wildlife! It was nice to see you teaching yourself more, on Instagram! Great job!
Thank you Iona :)
Amazing sabertooth tiger. The tongue is especially pretty,. the way it was so smooth! I wish, I'd have your talent, mate!! Excited what to see next :)
Thank you :)
Holy heck that's cool
Jonas your skills are amazing. I really enjoyed this video. Have you considered doing a larger head?
Hello! I am sorry that i did not reply to this. Yes i am considering making a bigger head all the time. I just dont have the material yet, but i will soon :D
Always amazed by your projects. Great job!
Damn you burn my working day instead of watching your videos unstopable. btw they transfer a lot of energy to me in a new day. Thanks bruv keep working with heart and bless you all the time.
Thank you so much! And many blessings back to you!
Bra jobba Jonas, gratulerer👍
Tusen takk :)
Well done I say!
Nice job on that tiger 🐴
Man You are a trully master of wood. Awesome,a wesome creation!! Congratulations!!
I'm happy to see you're uploading more!
I just want to know who the clowns are that gave this video a thumbs down!? Excellent work, as always!
Thank you :)
Finally
Ah, the Smilodon; one of the most recognisable non-dinosaur prehistoric creatures. Great carving, the finished project looks amazing.
I'm amazed I manage to lead a reasonably stable life as an adult, so imagine the amazement when I actually manage to carve something! XD I think a lot of creative souls unnecessarily doubt their work/abilities enough to be surprised at their results. But you do wonderful work, definitely inspirational for a girl like me who mostly does everyday objects like spoons and butter knives.
Thank you! nice to hear people are thinking the same as me :)
Amazing :O For future videos, maybe you can do a little tour through your collection of carvings? Would be nice to see. Maybe you also can compare them to see if you made progress and where you could do thinks better next time. Love you vids, keep going :D
Thank you! Yeah i might have to make some kind of video like that :)
man, This is really amazing. I hope that someday I reach this level :)
I am still at level 1
Thank you! I wish you good luck on your journey :)
I watched most of your videos.
actually you inspired me to start learning power carving. keep enjoying us with these amazing videos.
That is very cool to hear! :D
Woow! Really amazing job! I´m impressing...Thank´s for sharing.
I make so many different projects that most of what I do is also experimenting so I totally understand. Nice projects man. They are flawless.
Wow, great job, the colors really came out looking amazing. I really wish I'd be able to do this as well as you :D
Thank you! :)
Great video I hope you keep it up how long did it take you to make it and how much would you charge if you wanted to sell it??
Hmm i think it took me 20 hours in total. Would perhaps sell it for 700 usd or something, but the price is high because it has much value to me personally
Jonas Olsen Woodcraft ok thanks
I'm amazed at just how much your channel has grown!
I love how you present your amazing content in a simple yet effective way.
Sir,I am a wood &bamboo craftsman in assam.assam all 3d art&craft newly started craft Chanel 😮
Forget about carving, i cant even draw like him
very beautiful, Next time if you make something like that make a complete body..
Thank you! Yeah i want to do that as well. i just gotta find a big enough piece of wood :)
@@Jonasolsenwoodcraft yes completely body ....

Impressive project and huge success. Congratulations
Love this Jonas! It’s so nice, I wish I had a talent like this xx
Thank you so much! :)
Jonas, nice to see you using a push stick on the band saw buddy, those fingers are precious and you need to keep them. Stay save, and take care from England. Amazing work again, just awesome. What was the wood that the tongue and teeth were made from?
Hello i appreciate your concern a lot! i am being very careful, but i am sure that i could be even more careful! I should definitely keep my workshop more clean for the safety reasons :)
@@Jonasolsenwoodcraft Please don't feel I am criticising your work, simply a gentle reminder to stay safe is the only message I am sowing. Stay safe.
No worries. I took it as s nice gesture :)
manda mais videos como esse .
You do very nice work. I enjoy watching you take your art from paper to carving.
Thank you! nice feedback. I will keep showing you the darwing/designing in my next videos

Потрясающая работа! Так классно передали изображение на древесину)
А вот когда гравером высверливали отверстие для клыков, почувствовал эту боль как в стоматологической клинике))
Well done! This is something I'd totally get into!
