I subscribed and liked and you were right, my carving skill dramatically jumped to the next level.
Really?? I was just joking about that
😂
LOL, I caught that too!
i like people like you lmao
Your good i would buy they look amazing
I absolutely love that you show your WHOLE process. I wish more people would be honest about the tools they use and just show it for the love of the craft. I am a huge fan of rotary tools, and I wish more people showed how they use them.
Please make more videos like this. I absolutely adore watching them and learning the process you use.
Thank you so much :) I am designing the next video right now :)
It is a real privilege to be able ta watch an artist at work. What an inspiration. Thank you for sharing your art with the rest of us. Absolutely beautiful.
There are actually two pieces of magnificent art in this video. One is the incredible wood carving and the other is him😍☺️
Well thank you. i am flattered :)
It turned out amazing. I really loved how the eye has a glossy shine over it making it look realistic like. Keep up the good work
Amazing!!! Also, the view from your house is wow!
My 4 yr old son and I watch your channel all the time as his treat before bedtime. He absolutely loved this one!! He's a pretty big fan. He loved the dragon head too!!
Edward James III That is really cool to hear! I assume most 4 year olds watches minecraft videos all day so it is nice that i can contribute with something else!
Wish you and your son all the best!
Jonas
I love that you show your exact routine even where the spot you go to think and relax and figure out your thoughts. It has helped me and im sure manh other people
Wow looks amazing and the eye feel like Smaug watching you
I really liked the voice explaining what you are doing 👌
Thanks! i got a mic yesterday so i will probably keep doing voice overs :)
Inspiring!! The eye came out stunning. Thanx!
Great looking Smaug's Eye Carving.
The first red wheel carving tool is fantastic.
I used to carve wooden signs about thirty years ago.
That tool would have changed my life. ha ha.
Spot on, and i mean spot on exactly like his picture of the dragon. Awesome awesome job!
That's amazing. I wondered what you were doing when you cut out the eye. Unexpected, excellent finish!
Thank you for all your encouraging comments. it means a lot to me

Amazing job!!!
Amazing talent. Beautiful. I love the Tolkien books.
Oh my goodness, I absolutely love this and I am looking forward to seeing more of your videos . Cheers 🍻
I'm just blown away by your talent! I can't sculpt or carve worth a damn, it's like my brain just isn't able to process stuff in 3D like yours is. Amazing to watch, keep it up! :)
Classic Jonas, What a man you are, The end result, so artistic and perfect, you must be proud. When you were sanding at your Parents house you reminded me of Mike Stinnett minus the little dog Pearl and minus the bushy beard!!! You seem to be comfortable with your life as does Mike, good luck in your future endevours my friend, from John in England.
Thanks John! I am spending a lot of time up at the cabin lately and it is very good for me. It is fun to show a bit "behind the scenes" in my videos :)
@@Jonasolsenwoodcraft Have you seen Cabin in the woods hahaha😁
Smeagol likes it! .... This makes me want to go watch the movies again. Great use of varnish and matt finish. I love it. The eye just draws you in.
Haha thank you :D
Love love love! 😍x that place on the water is incredible, I could spend all day looking at that view x
You've outdone your self my friend. This looks so realistic its like watching the end of the first Hobbit movie. Love your work and love watching you so please, keep it coming because I cant wait till the next one.
Thank you so much! i am very satisfied with how it came out!
You did an amazing job! I would carve all day outside by that lake its a beautiful scenery. I am just getting into carving and will have more videos of my work soon. Keep up the amazing work.
Thank you :D
Gorgeous work and artist!
Beautiful craftsmanship. Beautiful craftsman. Beautiful piece!
Thank you so much :D
You have an amazing talent.
Thank you so much :)
Watch this while playing The Piano Guys - Lord of the Rings/Hobbit mix in another tab. You will NOT be disappointed.
Gotta try that :D
Great shout.
Remarkable, absolutely beautiful. Great job.
You're awesome! Very talented. Thanks for sharing!
Dude I don’t know how you do it but that was amazing once again ! Good job !!!
Wow that's amazing i really like how life-like it looks and the eye turned out.
Cheers
Tim from Wood 4 Nothing
Thank you :D
Just... wow! That is phenomenon attention to detail, and beautiful work!
WOW that just blew my head away , simply amazing !
Awesome art. I would hame fashioned the eye out of colored resin and put a small red LED in the back attached to a motion sensor in from so when anybody passed by the eye lighted up. Beautiiful work as-is tho.
wunderschön.. ich wünschte ich könnte sowas auch ^^
Beautiful pie of art. Just stunning.👍👍🇨🇦
Witam!!Mistrzostwo w wykonaniu tej rzezby!!Duza wiedza ,precyzja i dokladnosc,takze dobry pomysl!!Super!!Dobry filmik!!

Outstanding work my friend! Thanx for sharing.
That is absolutely stunning and beautiful!
Tu es vraiment très doué ! C'est magnifique !
I'm fire, I'm death! Amazing :)
Thank you! I just subbes to your channel! You have a lot of beautiful artwork there!
Thank you! Subbed your too. Please make something from Harry Potter series :)
I am* Fire, I am* Death! If you going to quote a dragon atleast do it right.
It seems that every time you surpass yourself with such beautiful pieces
Wow! Is an amazing and beautiful job. Congratulations. I love create things and I love see others create.
What a beautiful piece of art! It is astounding the way you finished it off. The pupil turned out amazing! What type of multi tool do you use? I have a Dremel, but you're seems to have a little bit more power than mine. I'm truly curious. Many blessings to you!
I just use a dremel 3000 at the moment 🙂
I would have never guessed. I saw you use the grinding stones as you were placing the last bit of detail on that beautiful piece. I've never seen a grinding stone used that way. Fantastic video! Many blessings!
Check out the world of Foredom. Truly the next step in the world of rotary tools
I am by no means an expert and I'm a huge fan of the final product but I thought from the thunbnail that you were going to use orange resin and form it to shape so that you could potentially put a light behind it and make it glow or just have a more eyball looking texture! That could be cool for a future project!
Yeah that is true, but i like to stick with just wood. I feel like it is more authentic that way 😃
Jonasolsenwoodcraft you should do a huge wall mural out of little pieces of wood carved into a scene from the Hobbit move like when the dragon is looming over Bilbo and looking down at him with one eye you carved the eye now all that is needed is the rest of the scene like the gold, Bilbo, pillars, etc. that would be very awesome.
Such a beautiful piece of work! Subscribed and can't wait to see more.
Awesome work and that eye 👁 wow
This is amazing! ♥ I loved the "another woodcarving tip is to subscribe to this channel", lmao. I don't see a lot of channels that do wood carving using hand-tools-- most of the ones I see seem to favor wood-turning-- so I absolutely adore your videos!
By the way, would you be willing to do a "tour" of your workshop and show what tools you have and what their primary uses are? I'm trying to get into wood carving/wood turning and I'm not really sure where to begin, or where to learn about the tools used in this craft, and I learn best from videos. Thank you! :)
Thank you! well it is funny that you mention that i use hand tools, but actually a few people are mad at the for using powertools :D
Yes i can do a tour, but then i will have to do a lot of cleaning first :D
Good job ☺
What a beautiful piece of wood!!
I m so glad you gave us few minutes of your amazing job. From France
heh you shouldnt have glued the piece in the back. either hinged it or even just pinned it... could have kept something back there... would have been poetic hehe keep a secret in the eye of the dragon..
"Find what you seek behind the Dragon's Eye!" XD
And dragons are fond of gold, so...)
Shut the fuck up and let him do whatever he wants
Emz Z he didnt say anythin mean he just gave him a cool idea .... think before opening your mouth next time please
Its a really cool idea! Wish i had done so 😃 perhaps i will make more of these eye wood carvings 🤔😃
Would be awesome ;)
Fantastic work as always. Do we have any chance to see metal carving from you?
Thank you! hmmm im not sure about that
Wow the eye looks real ! Beautiful !
That's incredible craftsmanship!
Oh mah gah I love it
I'm too
Thank you so much :)
OK, well, this is my new favorite carving of yours. Is this ever going in the shop? I want my grubby hands on it, BADLY! ;) GREAT WORK!
Thanks :D im not sure if i will sell it or not. I feel like this one will be a big landmark in my artjourney so im thinking about keeping it :)
@@Jonasolsenwoodcraft This? Landmark? No way! This is just a comma in the paragraph of your career! Obviously I am just kidding and trying to get you to part with it! ;) I completely agree, this thing is probably the most beautiful and technical thing I have seen made in a LOOONG time of watch UA-cam. If I were you I would never part with it, unless to hand down to a child!
put a price on it and make another one to sell. I have a feeling many people will pay a lot for a piece like that
@@williamheafner2396 Great idea
Jonasolsenwoodcraft I'm an artist myself and yes I agree some work shouldn't be sold
Absolutely awesome
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
wow amazing.
can you please tell us what kind of wood you use?
Yes please! I wanna know too
From past vids, he says he uses mostly Birch.
May I ask how you take care of the amount of dust that the Dremel creates? Because I tried doing it in my basement and I ended up getting dust in places that I didn't think it went
I dont and its a mess all over the place!! But i got myself a fairly cheap industrial vacum cleaner that i will use. The best option would be to get some kind of dust collector close to your workstation
Stunning piece 🤙look forward to more
Beautiful Art Work I've enjoyed seeing you make this beauty!
3:53 missed a perfect oppertunity to hold up over your own eye and say: "I SEE YOU"
Loved it, man. Absolutely fantastic. I want it. Maybe trade me a sculpt sometime? 😉
Thanks my man! Yeah maybe in the future, but honestly i have huge problems parting with my biggest projects :)
Fantastic craftsmanship. You have a great talent.👍
A beautiful piece of workmanship!
Is good 😁
You need to make a full size Smaugs
That would take a year :D
hahaha 😂
smaug is one hell of a challenge, even the designers must have had a little trouble drawing him, so your job with this piece was amazing to watch, respect!
Gah Fawkes yeah i especially love how his personality is so well presented in his design
yeah, that wicked thing just expresses both fear and passion at the same time, it's crazy XD
Absolutely fantastic!
Breathtakingly gorgeous!
thank u i*m learning a lot
Thank you back for the support :)
I see Fire ....
