Would have like to see footage leading up to this point. This only tells a small part of the story.
Very nearly much worse. The crane jib nearly goes over the top in recoil in which case it would have taken out most of the equipment and people on the deck. This perfectly illustrates the downfall of floating cranes. The buoyancy is stored energy like an elastic band. When the main wire broke all that energy was released. I work in the offshore industry but you could not pay enough to get me to work on one of these. When something goes wrong it goes very seriously wrong.
I believe that the inclination of the boat was due to the ballast tank filled with water to counter the lifting weight. Once the load has been released those ballast tanks made the vessel to heel.
Well it didn't go completely wrong and it was 7700 tons on the hook.
@@stefanotranchellini9673 yeah, it's standard procedure to fill up the ballast opposite of the crane when lifting
Then you dont drive car, get on planes might a fact you must not even leave your house all of those are bigger chance of getting killed but you knew that right?
@@TheMusicHeals.kjhjhhg wanna come to my party? You'll be fun. 🙄
This will be down for a very long time for stress testing and damage inspection. Very costly failure indeed.
Just went into the shaming corner for acouple of weeks. It was a load test, you kinda expect it to go wrong. And thats kinda the purpose too, to se the weak spots and make sure the rights stuff break off
Worked cranes for 20 years, never had or seen a catastrophic rope failure. Seen damaged strands and bundles, but with 100 % safety factors on the ropes rated capacity from the crane manufacturers its just a replace ASAP. Interested to see the outcome of this..
Could have easily been another Orion disaster.
Я отработал в SAIPEM 20лет только хорошие воспоминания остались. Жаль что в Казахстане этой компании больше нет.
The crane is bigger than the boat...
As a veteran boom flipper, I was holding my breath.
I was working on this vessel November and December of last year (2021).
Unfortunately this accident didn't come as a surprise to me. A real shame that's has happened and so glad no one was injured.
Apparently the Saipem 7000 has a few nick names,.
The widow maker and the death Star, to name a couple.
what nationalitys is working there ? just curious
@@provenxreaperx mostly Indonesian and on that job, Italian.
Indo riggers and deck crew
Italian Micoperi were running the job
What’s wrong with S7000?
The Saipem 7000 has a bad history of safety too, the stories i heard from people who have worked on that vessel makes me not want to go there
I was there for 3 years and please don't go is racist and horrible.
Test passed. Didn't flip over backwards and split the boom. Ship didn't sink. 👍
Main load block gone ... Hoist cable failure?
That was scary! Was the crane deemed safe to use after this incident?
yes but only in china
Grande Saipem
Big crane but no herrema slepnir
Sleipnir is huge, saw her up close when they lifted of the old hotel from ekofisk last year 🤗
A thing that size moving in ominous ways is a very bad day.
"Death Star" alright...
How this happened?
ua-cam.com/video/sqO0id-NRzc/v-deo.html
Main wire snaped
Con queste immagini non si possono avanzare ipotesi . Si può sapere cosa è successo per causare uno sbandamento del genere ? Si è sganciato il carico operava solo una gru su un lato
How can we apply??
Load test accident or load test fail?
What's hapnin

Why are cranes always failing? human error.
Whatever happened, that was really lame!
Saipem 7000 is old and should have been scrapped years ago. No company will want the 7000 on their project and who could blame them. There looks to be quite a few serious safety and integrity concerns that need addressing asap!
I agree with you 100 %
I've worked on her and the health and safety culture was a bit dodgy.
Don't think many companies will be looking to hire Saipem.
They have only just been let back in the North Sea to operate apparently.
The vessel is ok, it all depends on the way the company utilities it. Yes it's old and has a bad rep for safety and it's not a cost effective vessel by any means.
Just needs a good company to run it more safety.
On the other hand, it prob has no more years than 5left till decommissioning it.
They'll just lower the hire rate. Some genius will use it.
@@doodlegassum6959 Does it really matter for work like offshore wind farms? It is not high value or critical business, would be a waste of money to use something better.
@@gearloose703 considering what those things costs - who wants to use a crane barge operator with dodgy reputation ?
Especially considering the lead times for new blades and generators if for some reason the builder looses one or another.
Some engineers will be look'n for new jobs
Reminds me a little bit on that Liebherr crane: ua-cam.com/video/xYu0f57XAz0/v-deo.html
Nothing to see folks, waste of time.
Hello friend, how do I apply to the company Saipem? As a structural welder, code D1.1, give me a contact or an email to send my CV, this month it's my email. Thank you very much.
7000 is just a number, 7000 tons would be more impressive.
Rotate your damn phone
I would normally have an issue with this but given it appears they very quickly got their phone out after the crane had failed I thought I'd let them get away with it this time.
Why the heck would you want landscape to see a lot of irrelevant stuff on the side and a much smaller view of the crane itself, only to fit it in frame? 🙄
