You can use trigonometry to block movement like cos90 is 0 then you can't move.Something where you use trigonometric functions as game items.Of course you know better
You *could* take your 4D game and add these orbs as quaternions as the way to move through the dimensions. That would be really neat! I think you actually need 2 Quaternions to describe a 4D rotation though (it's called an "isoclinic rotation"). There's a formula here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotations_in_4-dimensional_Euclidean_space#Isoclinic_decomposition
Thanks for the insight! I didn't put those 2 together yet. I might have to think about a way to visualize where you're going to end up. Since you're not just rotating in place, but pivoting around
Found your channel about a week ago and I have to say - WOW man, the amount of skill you have starting from art ending with music! All the best to you!
You are so talented in everything!! you draw good and model good and you're good at math and sports and you are also really funny! its like someone merged all the gamedevs to create the perfect one! lol
I dont think anyone noticed the (maybe unintended) joke with explaining square roots: in dutch (a language spoken in Belgium and the Netherlands), the square root is called a “wortel” (carrot). I’m not sure if Jelle is from the dutch speaking part of Belgium (Vlaanderen), but his name seems to suggest so.
Just found your channel and I really hope you get famous, man You explain these complicated concepts in a simpler manner than most college professors and apply them by putting them in games Feels like an insane amount of work, and that's not even counting the recording and editing
As someone who has been trying to learn math way too late in life, this video has really helped my understanding along; thank you! You make some neat schtuff!
These videos are up there with the best quality content I've ever seen on UA-cam. You're just a genius. Game development, 3D modelling, mathematics, music making, problem solving, 3D printing, engineering, electronics, graphic design, physics, video editing, imagination, humour, storytelling, narration... I could go on and on. Your talents are boundless. You are amazing
From the title I was expecting jelle to find a way to project thoughts into our mind so we would imagine the game but I’m not disappointed in the slightest
This is so awesome! I have an idea: make a meta game, like a game in which the game is playing a game, and in this game the game is the first game if you know what i mean... That will be complicated :D you don't have to ofc, just an idea. You are such a great creator!
I love this! I was confused that you used carrots to talk about square roots but then I remembered! Square roots in Dutch translates to vierkantswortel! Which directly translates to Square Carrot in English! Amazing! Or I thought about it too much but I mean... Jelle is Dutch
i think you the the most smart and genius man ever even not your skill your imagination is also to great! imagine who thinks of making random numbers, fractals, turning real world into games! its very and another secret i think the fonts that you used in this game is exactly looking like a android game called candy crush saga ? Thanks for entertaining us!
Which school course should I make into a game next? Or you know, I suppose it could also be about something else 🤣
🤔
Romeo and juliet
Derivative or trigonometry
It can be something like circle on x y graph turning clockwise and counter clockwise

Whoa
Cool! Now write that in English ;-)

@@SurrealBackrooms lol
K
Who else loves it when Jelle says "Let me explain"?
Everyone
Yeah I love when he makes the things in real life to explain his game's concept
All things in the whole world
My favorite part of Jelle Vermandere was when Jelle said “let me explain” then proceeded to explain all over the place
Upbeat music starts playing while Jelle gets the 3-D printer started.
Found your channel about a week ago and I have to say - WOW man, the amount of skill you have starting from art ending with music! All the best to you!
Thanks a lot!
Jellie is probably the most underrated person in history! Ur a legend :D
I mean, you probably don't know who the most underrated person in history is because they're so underrated
@@NICK.... makes sense
@@NICK.... true 🤣
Lol
Nick Lol
Definitely think u should expand on this idea and make a full title. It's awesome and I would 100% buy it
You are so talented in everything!! you draw good and model good and you're good at math and sports and you are also really funny! its like someone merged all the gamedevs to create the perfect one! lol
Agreed
You should make a shooter game controlled by a laser pointer!
The speed you produce these games at this level of polish blows my mind.
Well you know, Gotta go fast!
How you manage to consistently portray these abstract concepts time and time again just boggles my mind.
How do you imagine this complex mathematics in a game?, just amazing.

Oh, it was definitely intended 😅
@@JelleVermandere wait you responded hahah, also this was a huge inspiration for my brackeys game jam entry lol
One of the best dev channels out there! You'll explode soon, I'm sure!
Those are some complex carrots...
Just wanna tell you, you make amazing videos !
Yeah, I didn't have any roots laying around, so carrots work to right ;)
Just found your channel and I really hope you get famous, man

Really cool video! I love how you used things you picked up in your past projects!
Very clever.
Something like this could be used to train your intuition on how complex numbers work.

Awesome video as per usual ! The explanations where great. And the rainbow effect was super cool
Thanks Zyger!
found you in the UA-cam cosmos yesterday. I loooovvveee the effort you put into your videos!
Love it
I feel very bad after i watched this video...You said you start gamedev 2 years ago? Then i will need 20 to be here :( Amazing job, like always!
From the title I was expecting jelle to find a way to project thoughts into our mind so we would imagine the game but I’m not disappointed in the slightest

OOOOOOH WEE look at that slick masking and editing. Hot damn!
I will make a feature movie only starring me one day 😅
Oh i was waiting for a new video
This is a great idea for a game plus the aesthetics, it's amazing! Brilliant job
Thanks!
Seeing imaginary numbers in a Unity project is a bless for any engi
WOW!! your level of editing, programming, animating and knowledge(and making faces😂) is out of the world
Ye
Sweet edits!!
You will never stop surprising me with those ideas ss
I just watched most of you videos and thought to myself when will the next one come out
Right on time

Thank you very much!
Now make one with octonions. They're basically complex numbers but mathematically 8-Dimensional
1:00 looks like Jelle got hungry and ate a piece of carrot ! :D
haha, I deny everything!
Deine Videos sind echt gut und sehr lehrreich
I loveeee the "Let Me Explain"
*"The human brain is the most complex structure in the whole entire universe"*
_-Human Brain._
Lmao
I've definitely seen that comment somewhere else beforeee 👀
This man could make anything fun
Started watching u since yesterday
Dude u have a lotta content here
Nice one
Welcome aboard!
Jelle the math teacher! Also been loving playing robroyal on the discord server
Roboyal for life!
Master of all aspects of Game dev👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾new fan💯💯💯💯
i had an idea to make a game with complex numbers, but i wanted to make the whole render like so, and maybe also some physics equations.
*As a wise man once said :*
_"Only when a mosquito lands lands on your testicles will you realize violence isn't always the answer"_
I mean you could carefully pinch it off and then slowly rip off its wings and legs
This guy is really fun to watch
my brain get exploded please help
I completed it!!! It was AMAZING.
He is back, nice
You just wrinkled my brain man.

Nice to hear the dutch accent, didn't know our country has such great youtubers
Nice video
Such an insane concept, wow! 👏
Yay, the legend is back!

"Make it look like we solved it" is genius
awesome game, might be nice for people who want to learn complex numbers.
Yay, new jelle video
Love the 70s Vibe Groovy man
"let me explain" comes in every vid of jelle's
JELLE IS BACK YUSSSSSS
Anybody notices the use of carrots, which is 'wortel' in Dutch, and 'wortel' means square root in dutch too
I love your videos so much. i watch them almost everyday
Jelle, you are a genius
thanks Pascal!
poggers! it’s a new upload!
Thanks for the knowledge dude
I just realized... is this game just a hallucination simulator?
I have no idea what you're talking about 😅
wow the game was pretty fun
Hey Jalle. Are you going to make open world games? And when will we see it on steam?
I love how he eats the carrot at 0:59
Well done !
the fact that he forgot that 1i is just i and -1i is just -i triggered me lol
there are a few things different from a complex plane
1: there is no origin
2: there are no other numbers than i and -i
Keep this man safe.
Ouch
You are the reason I started doing unity 1 week ago:)
good luck!
I am so glad I found Jellie
me too!
I wanna say, I am learning to develop games, and you are a good source of knowledge
i found a glitch where in the final level you can clip into the top part of the level and cheese the entire thing.
Oh boy 😅

even your game is running besides this you tube tab lol
The one thing that everyone I have come across with agrees on, is that quaternions are black magic
2:19 You use Procreate too? Noice.
5:31 Yes. Infact BaBa Is You has a pretty small tileset for tiled objects.
You deserve so much more subs
haiiii i like this vid 👍🏼👍🏼
Im sad by the fact that you dont get the recognition you deserve
Perfect the joke with the vierkants wortel
Only the Dutch will know 😅
Could you make a 3D game that's played like a 2D platformer
So I’m guessing that you’re obsessed with astronauts and orbs xD
Jelle the man who mixes coding with math to the point you colud call his video "educational"
1:12 little did he know that in Dutch we use the same word for carrot as for squareroot
ik weet meer dan je denkt 😉
@@JelleVermandere hahaha ik hoopte het al (is eigenlijk ook wel te zien in je naam zie ik nu😅)

Nice, we just did imaginary numbers in physics
cool!
a man hit his head and this is what happened to his idea
Did you just take a bite out of that carrot piece in 1:00?!
