First of all, thank you for the informative video! I recently serviced a CECH04 and fitted it with the 19 blade fan. I planned to leave the OS untouched, but want to control the fan via an additional controller as in the video. How can you roughly tell the percentage on the controller since it doesn't seem to be labeled?
Without the in line controller the PS3 would manage fan speed based on thermals. You can totally do it, but it wouldn't allow you to set a preferred speed. I personally prefer software mods to adjust the fan. Hope this helped
What percent should I have the knob turned? I turn it down when I play PS2 games because it is so loud and assume it doesn't need to be up as high. I don't want to burn it out though.
Hello, ive got 15 & 19 blades fan. From my tests , the 15 blade push more air from the right side, no matter low or high speed. The 19 blade pushes more air from the back than from side. Also, 19 blades is more quiter
Hi, so for you what is the Best fan 19 or 15 blades ? If you have a CFW, can you share the température and your noise impression, I have 60Gb compatible PS2 and make some noise when turn on, thanks
So, I have a several PS3's CECHAO1, B01& E01, can I just do a straight up fan swap, that is a 15 blade for a 19 blade without any software or other modifications and the console work ok and run cooler?
I would just swap out the fan and let the system control the speed. Adding a CFW will definitely improve cooling as you can adjust the fan speed to whatever you want. That's my two cents worth .
Nice video. Answers questions many have. Honestly the best thing is just to delid the cpu and gpu and repaste it. Syscon will keep it around 70c no problem
Glad to see I'm getting my money's worth regarding the Fan. :)
It was a great choice! I was really surprised with the difference between the two! I am truly grateful for the opportunity to work on your console!
I say the 19 blade fan would be what I’d use, 1 degree could make the difference between the console running smoothly or it throttling or worse, YLOD
As would I! I love these systems and hope to keep them up and running. I'll be doing the swap in the future for sure.
1 degree could also be the difference of margin of error. Lol.

It is a guess from 0% to 100%. The one that is in this video only made about 1 full turn if I remember correctly
It would've been appreciated appreciated if the console was tested with custom firmware, so you could get direct fan speed and temperature readings.
I agree! The owner didn't want any software modifications. I prefer CFW
@@GFL_Tech I guess I can understand that, but it would've also been possible to put CFW on temporarily for the video and then flash back OFW.
Can you just swap out the fans without having to install anything else? If so what would the default fan speed be? Cool video

Will this affect the heat in an old ChechC03 fan the old one that can play PS1, 2 and 3
Why is the sticker on the back with the serial number and model number upside down?
gotta thank youtube algorithm for leading me here
great video
Thank you! Glad you liked the video!
how did you get such low temps? i delidded and used liquid metal and still avg around 60-65C on both rsx and cell
This isn't accurate package temp as I was using a thermal probe on the heat sink. The actual temp is much higher
Where you bought 19 blades fan? Amazon or Aliexpress?
Ebay
@@GFL_Tech Thank you
I confirm that on cfw I get better temperature results and I m working only at 25% of the 19th blades speed.

thanks for posting a video, awesome setup!

I noticed the 19 blade fan is louder when i switched from 15 blade.

Hey, how can I get in contact with you?
Mainly through comments and email. Do you need something?
@@GFL_Tech Wanna do some hardware modifications to my console. What’s your email?
great video
Ok with out the fan modding which fan is better the 15 or the 19
Depends... There are 3 types of 15. If you have ceche model, D14 will run coolest, on other hand G14 2af is quietest.
This have the YLOD ,and we Fix that : b
buddy why dont you hack this with HEN/ and install temp fan controllers much more accurate then that
He says in the video he prefers Software Mods and using a Subscribers PS3.
