  • We divide Zone Blocking into 3 Families.
    1) Inside / Tight Zone - Playside A gap to backside, can bounce; downhill run
    2) Mid Zone - Playside B gap, look like wide zone and hit tighter
    3) Wide Zone / Stretch - Playside C gap to backside, can bounce; not an outside run, a wide run that hits inside the tackles who have just moved wider

This really wasn't about zone blocking families. Instead, it was about the running back target points. I was hoping it would be like your previous gap blocking families video.

In my mind, this is how to split them up. What were you looking for?

@@theassistantcoach Because it was entitled, zone "blocking" families, I had assumed that the blocking would be different for the different type of zone plays. My understanding of your reply is that the blocking is the same, and it's only the RB target point that's different. Gotcha. Thanks.

@@mjciavola Did you watch more than just the first minute? Or did you stop there or did you skim through? There is quite clearly footwork for OL discussed alund the 3:57 and 6:28 marks.
Additionally there is conversation around minute 11 for the mid zone tactics.
RB and OL must know what each other is doing in order to block effectively.

@@theassistantcoach Yeah, I saw it all. I guess I was looking more than listening. Thanks.
