HOW TO: Steelhead Knots - The Turle Knot

Deschutes Angler, its employees and many of our fishermen friends have used this knot as their go-to knot for traditional and modern Summer Steelhead flies. When one is swinging flies, they want to make sure the fly is presented in line with the leader - this knot ensures this happens.

Thanks for making this video. Someone showed me this knot ages ago and I had forgotten how to tie it. This vid was a great instruction. I used to fish the Deschutes river almost every weekend when I lived in Oregon. Great river!. I miss fishing there!😎

Thank you! I'm not saying I'll give up my beloved improved clinch knot when the light is dim and the no-see-ums are biting my hands, but I'll try. Your graphic on the tilt of the fly weakening the hold on the fish did it. This was great video. Short, sweet, and informative! Thanks again.
