And got another question for you: I’m looking at the storage hanger from PRx to store it, how do you store your vests and plates and/or what do you recommend?
After finishing the video… awesome. You have a great collection of weight vests. I really enjoy a good weight vest work out. Try to use mine in my dynamic cardio days.

@@NoFate247 Doing great!!!! Making progress. I'm just a beginner, but I'm really working on leg strength and overall body strength with a strong core. I appreciate all your info!!!
Great video. Since I have ironmaster kettlebells, I went with the iron master vest. It's a love hate relationship with that vest. It brings the pain for sure
Looking to purchase a weighted vest, hopefully this week if I can decide on one. I have been looking at North Gym, Wolf Tactical, Tribe WOD, and a couple others. I am leaning towards the Tribe WOD but not sure how compact it is, have only seen reviews by giant men who are 6'4" and I am only 5'10". I want something fairly low profile for agility work and calisthenics. The Tribe WOD seems to be almost a clone of the 5.11 but way cheaper. I was also looking to add CATI curved plates. Do you have any experience with this vest and/or plates? Thanks.
Afraid not. The cati curved plates were some of the first to come out but I think they are all thy same now. I think the tribal wod is just a 511 copy as you mentioned
I think another option is the GoRuck backpack which is mostly used for Rucking however also very comfortable for bodyweight exercises, pullups, dips etc. Plus has benefit of being comfortable for 45+lb Rucks which get heart rate up a lot and burn a lot more calories.
I grabbed a 40lb DSG vest with a gift card 5 years ago, like that I can progressively overload in 2lb increments. Haven't found a need to upgrade yet, but I know what affiliate link to use when I do.
Imo the big drawback of a weight "vest" is that it does not cinch around the waist/abdomen. For rucking over distance with heavier weights, this puts all the strain on the shoulders and it's a pain, literally. I got the highest priced Kensui vest, with extra padding, but now for rucking I just use a hard frame day backpack with weight plates wrapped inside towels. I also have the basic Cap 20 lb weight vest (Walmart), which does cinch around the waist, and for the price I recommend it. Drawbacks are: hard to change weights (little sand baggies) so I just leave it at 20 lbs, and gets gross if sweat reaches the sand baggies. You gotta take all baggies out to wash the vest. But easy to put on and take off, and does not shift that much. Lastly, if you want to do weighted pull ups and dips, just use a lashing/loading strap or the strap from your rings set to hang weights from your waist.
Nice video! I like the kensui ez vest, although I don't have it and it's out of my budget. I never knew that weight vest can have curved plates, and good points to call out.
You’re awesome man! Your coupon code saved me $42. And thanks for recommending the curved weights. This was actually the very first video I watched since I was looking for a weighted vest and it saved me a bunch of time and money. Thanks again bro.
Went with the North Gym & bought 20lb plates for front and back. Looks like it's a bit shorter than the Wolf Tactical, which I imagine will be better for doing burpees and other dynamic movements. I also think the side load will prove to be beneficial for longevity. Just ordered - looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Hey Jonathan non related to the video but I was looking at alpha lion pre workout does the burn over stimulate at all? I tried the regular pre and it was good and so have an affiliate link with them?
I've been watching a few of your videos on weighted vests. I appreciate your energy and sincerity. That being said, I wonder if there are other options for achieving the same results, some of them lower in cost and some of them free. I would like to see you explore them, in another video, even going into some that won't work and why, if needed. The first thing that comes to mind is the horse stance from martial arts training, which is a form of a squat. And then there are squats, with and without weights. I think it is called incline push ups. Then, there are weights that target a specific part of the body, rather than just making you x pounds heavier. Such as ankle weights, which can be used on either the wrists or the ankles. Another option for some people is using hills, mountains or stairs, depending on what they have nearby. Most people have access to stairs, somewhere near them! And they can usually be accessed for free. I think using stairs can give you the same rigor as a 1 hour walk in about 15 minutes. So, it isn't a question of how much of a workout you are getting, but one of time management. My goal isn't to become a fitness warrior like you. I'm training to take a vacation. When I'm on vacation, I tend to stand and walk for hours, and I'm overweight. When I'm at home, I'm pretty sedentary and just walk around or do simple errands. So, in comparison to you and your audience, my fitness goals are modest. Then, there is the whole stolen valor issue. I'm not a veteran and I don't want to look like a soldier, security guard or a policeman. All the weighted vests you keep showing me would make me look like I'm wearing a bullet proof vest. I can do it, but I think it would screw with my mind something terrible and I would end up ditching it. And spending $200 on something just to ditch it, and in my city, it is hard to sell things on Craig's List, would feel awful.
Lyle McDonald recommend a weighted vest while losing weight. Start light, for injury prevention and move up to 10% of bodyweight. Wear while active. Helps maintain lean body mass while dropping weight. Great review. Will try the airsoftt vest. Thankyou.🏋🏻
I still don't see why any of these cost that much. A cheap backpack with waist straps from the big box store cost like $20-30 or so, will hold 20lbs easy, and it uses more fabric. So you're paying for form factor. And the steel plates, why so much? Yes, steel costs money and there's 20 lbs of it, but we don't need quality steel here. Whatever cheap recycled steel is available will work, and plates for dumbbells are around $1/lb. Since almost all of them come from overseas where materials and labor are cheaper, why $200 as a starting point for a decent vest?
@@NoFate247 No, I am just wondering why the steep price increase for basically the same thing. Even doubling the price of the weights and backpack, it would cost like $130. I do have a weight vest, a 40lb sand thing like you advise against, but that's why I was watching; to get advice on an upgrade. I just bought the Perfect Weight Vest (made by the same company that makes Perfect Pushup and such). I paid $80, and it's 40lb adjustable. The main criticism I could find was that it wasn't good for crossfit, which isn't a big deal to me.
